Divine Emperor of Death

2445 Locked Ascension

A white-robed woman stood on an expansive terrace overseeing a waterfall mountain view to the side and scenery of life teeming directly below it, stretching to the horizon. She stood before the railings, her limpid black eyes taking in the sight of the creation of the Aurora Cloud Gate Law Enforcement Guardian's estate that spanned thousands of kilometers.

Her white hair gently swayed because of the occasional breeze filled with dense heaven and earth energy capable of supporting Immortal King Cultivation while also causing her beauty to brighten the scene as the white veil flailed, slightly revealing her cherry lips.

Her serene expression went through a minor change at this moment before her lips moved.

"You're here."

From behind, a black-robed man appeared beside her, overseeing the grandness of the palace with a broad, impressed mouth.

"Wah~ The scenic view combined with incredibly pure air is so grand and majestic..."

Davis's voice echoed with some astonishment and desire. Such a beautiful place. One could say that there was some desire in his heart to nurture this kind of environment when he could one day be truly carefree without worry.

It would be perfect if all his beauties could also be there.

Thinking that he turned to look at Myria and cupped his hands.

"Congratulations on stepping into the Immortal Stage, Young Mistress Myria."

"Young Mistress…?" Myria couldn't help but crack a smile as she turned to look at him, "You want to see me smile that badly?"

"…" Davis's expression stiffened lightly, but he kept his smile, "Well, you do look like you're a mortal princess who's going to commit suicide by jumping off this terrace. With how sweet Ellia wishes well for you, how can I let you die?"

Surprisingly, his words didn't offend Myria but caused her to laugh lightly as she oversaw the scenery again.

"Indeed, I admit I felt somewhat lost now. It is just… being alone after all this time… it is quite weird. It's too… silent."

Davis blinked at Myria's complex gaze before he turned to look back at Ellia, who shivered with emotion.

Definitely, the process of splitting two consciousnesses from the same soul was not an easy one. Not only he hoped that they could recover from it, but he was also curious about it as a soul cultivator.

"Does it feel like you lost something but couldn't put your finger on it?"

"Yes…" Myria nodded her head as she looked at him with surprise.

He was speaking as though he knew how she felt. However, she imagined that he must've scanned Ellia with Heart Intent to know these sensations.

"In any case, I will soon get used to it like I got used to Ellia's antics once. It isn't a bad change. Now you two can also be together as you please but be more responsible. If I ever see you causing Ellia to cry, as her parent, I will come to ask for justice."

"You?" Davis made an astonished expression before a smirk appeared on his face, "You want to beat me-"

Just as he was about to scoff and boast, he suddenly noticed something.

"Wait… from the start, you sound like you are going to give up on your revenge?" He lightly raised his hand and pointed at her face with some confusion.

Myria's brows squinted. Her expression frowned before she returned her gaze to the vast scenery below, teeming with fun and laughter of the wilderness.

"It's a bit hilarious and shameful that I… actually thought of settling down here for a peaceful life after learning how Saintess Lunaria lived. She managed to acquire what I yearned for. However, after hearing that even she is going to ascend shortly after the incident I brought upon the world, it only says how unmistakable I was in wanting to rush and become stronger as soon as possible."

"Saintess Lunaria is trying to ascend…?"

Davis became dumbfounded.

With the matters he heard from her, he assumed and even almost confirmed Saintess Lunaria had settled here for eternity. After all, so many of her disciples have probably ascended, but she stayed. She had practically lived here for millions of years. For her to now leave, that meant…

"Yes." Myria sounded solemn, "She thinks this safe haven is no longer safe. At least, for the subsequent years, she stressed things would get precarious as more immortal invaders would arrive or at least that the chances were high due to a particular reason which I think has to do with the creator of this world failing to stop such a massive invasion."

Davis gawked, "Because of just one bastard named Fraser…? Or are there more powerful invaders that we don't know about?"

Myria shook her head.

"It isn't to say that there were no immortal world intruders from before, but the scale in which that bastard invaded is truly preposterous this time, bringing down Vacuous Beasts upon this world. If someone from the immortal world actually made the nefarious effort to unleash Immortal Emperor Vacuous Beasts upon the First Haven World, then things would simply be over for them. That's why in five years, Saintess Lunaria is planning to leave for the immortal world."

Davis became shocked over this information. Immortal Emperor Vacuous Beasts? Just what were these monsters? They looked like they crawled out of an abyss or something evil to him. However, he couldn't understand why Saintess Lunaria had to just leave so quickly.

"Wait, why five years?"

"Apparently, every thousand years, there's a World Ascension Ceremony that is hosted in a palace called the Immortal Dreams Palace. Although it's called a ceremony, it is, in fact, a competition between Immortal Emperors. Whoever places in the top ten gets to ascend, and grand rewards such as heavenly resources or miraculous pills are bestowed, allowing them to cross to the next stage smoothly."

"…!"

"However, there is a requirement for them to be able to participate in the Immortal Dreams Palace. They are required to seclude within their powers and only respond to trouble within a hundred kilometers for a hundred years before the World Ascension Ceremony starts."

Shock and amazement filled Davis's soul, but his lips twitched at the end. Is that why he saw no Immortal Emperor until he met one in the Aurora Cloud Gate?

It could be said that he had entered their lair, so it couldn't be treated that they crossed the line. However, why this strange rule?

He couldn't help but ask Myria.

"Do I look all-knowing to you?" Myria side-eyed him.

"Haha…" Davis could only awkwardly chuckle.

The World Master's thoughts were truly incomprehensible when it came to defending their own world. Why would such a powerful entity allow an intruder to dance in their backyard, and why limit those who wanted to ascend to ten Immortal Emperors every millennium?

Davis felt some difficulty in understanding such intricacies. However, he was sure that there must be some meaning behind it.

'After all, if there was no meaning, Fallen Heaven still couldn't be with me… taken away...'

After stepping into the Immortal Stage, Davis underwent a qualitative change not only to his body but also to his soul. His soul force capacity had exponentially increased, and the number of things that could get past his latent subconscious was limited.

Before, it was unknown if the World Master was alive or not since quick action wasn't taken on an intruder, but now, he intrinsically felt that it was part of a bigger plan.

No, he felt that it had always been a part of a bigger plan. Yet, his cultivation base was just not high enough to pick the scent, and instead, he always thought he was in constant danger of being plundered for some reason.

On the other hand, Saintess Lunaria seemed aware of a few underlying events and hence, decided to no longer remain in the First Haven World. Not only was the matter of Candidacy seem highly important to the immortal world, but perhaps, its resources as well.

'The Candidacy was delayed by a few million years that the immortal world could not wait anymore…?' He couldn't help but arrive at speculation, one that he felt was more plausible than any other matter that he could think of with his current knowledge.

After all, if the Aurora Cloud Gate was present for three million years, then the other major powers like the Dragon Clans and Phoenix Clans should more or less be the same. They have had their initial immortal inheritors set up the clans, but the Candidacy hasn't started yet, leaving them feeling that it was a scam.

With the World Master's power, just who would dare to invade this world?

But as more time passed and they sent more scouts to check and see the result, they could confirm that the time between arriving in this world and the time of their death was slowly widening.

'Almost like a barrier of inhibition had been cast onto the World Master…? Like… karmic burden… on such a figure!?'

Davis was shocked at this speculation, thinking if it was ever possible to escape from the bindings of karmic burden, but then, he was suddenly roused out of his reverie.

"You seem to be in deep contemplation, but thinking won't get you anywhere. Let's start with stabilizing our immortal foundations. Care for a spar?"

Myria's voice struck deep through his soul, lighting up his eyes before he smirked and flew into the skies. Myria stepped forward and flew into the skies, following him.

"With that kind of confidence oozing out from your soul, I'll see what you have in store for me." Her melodious voice echoed throughout the area, causing Davis to feel exhilarated.

The only genius whom he thought of as an equal was none other than Myria, so his blood boiled for some action that he could finally get with his newfound immortal prowess. Of course, Nadia had almost reached such a realm, but with Myria, he felt a strange throb in his heart, perhaps because he knew that he would've lost to her if it weren't for Fallen Heaven when they had fought before.

He was itching for a rematch now that his prowess was far superior to before!
