Divine Emperor of Death

2474 Trying Reason

Patriarch Klavius possessed a complicated expression on his face.

Just now, the Divergent in front of him revealed a sliver of his character, but he also knew that the other party never went to look for trouble by himself. This dual characteristic of evil and good had his head spinning in confusion.

After all, eliminating the evil Divergents was always a service to the entire world. Even if it wasn't for the betterment of his clan, he would still take part in eliminating such vermin.

However, he claimed that Isabella was supposed to be greater than his life. What was that supposed to mean when he had many women, especially two women who were immortal inheritors as wives?

"Young Divergent, no one would believe that you managed to court two immortal inheritors at the same time. Their destinies are grand, like that of a shooting star. Their fates are to shine like a bright star or disappear in the vastness of space like a comet, but simultaneously, they are also not the same as they might become enemies in the future, so it is illogical of them to choose you unless they decided to give up their cultivation path."

"What the hell is logical about love?" Davis's lips curved, "I just said that Isabella is greater than my life. What do you think is logical or even reasonable about that?"

"You could just make it up. Besides, there is no precedent to any man having two immortal inheritors as wives as far as I know unless that man fooled them. They all more or less ended in divorce or bloodshed."

Patriarch Klavius shook his head, "Are you sure-"

"What others did in their lives doesn't matter to me. I have my own way of doing things."

Davis frowned as he boldly interrupted, "As long as you can get your Earth Dragon Clan to let go of Isabella, I can make an effort to return the sincerity. If not, I can only pay with the blood of your people."

Davis's expression became cold with a bit of intimidation in his voice, causing Patriarch Klavius to become stunned before he coldly smiled.

"Vehemently arrogant indeed. However, we both exchanged questions and answers. I still want to see if Isabella is being held forcefully by you or not before I make a final decision."

Davis's expression was still unamused. He felt that there was no need to show Isabella or Shirley to them as all they wanted was to secure them as resources and, in reality, had no care for them. But at this moment, he narrowed his eyes as he received word from the Nine-Treasured Immortal Ordeal Palace.

Closing his eyes once and breathing out a sigh, he waved his hand.

A golden-robed figure with purple hair appeared by his side, causing Patriarch Klavius's eyes to flicker, recognizing that the last inheritor was truly an unattainable beauty as it was rumored. He couldn't believe a mortal like that existed as his interaction with mortals were way less.

Isabella's expression was indifferent as she saw the scene in front of her, recognizing them as the people from the Earth Dragon Clan. Not only was their aura all too identifiable to her, but she had imagined that they could've possessed a good relationship if it weren't for all the things that had happened before.

She knew everything as she had listened and seen from within the Nine-Treasured Immortal Ordeal Palace, while Ellia had also filled her in about other information.

"Greetings, Earth Dragon Patriarch." Isabella cupped her hands, her purple eyes appearing rather cold rather than warm, "As someone who received the graces of the Earth Dragon Immortal who bestowed me with this inheritance, I guarantee that I wouldn't be an ungrateful inheritor, much less a terrible individual who would go back on her promises of helping the Earth Dragon Clan."

"However, my life and my child's destiny belong with my husband. Any outsider who concerns themselves with my life's affairs is my absolute enemy. Don't think of obtaining me through scheming or any other methods. It's useless. I would rather die than be forced to be with someone else or even be confined to a cold cultivating palace in the Earth Dragon Clan."

"…"

Patriarch Klavius's brows raised as he heard Isabella's words. He could really hear the determination in it, but he was also shocked to hear that she had a child with him.

In that case, wasn't it already too late to separate them?

He couldn't help but narrow his eyes.

"I didn't expect you two to have reached such a level of affection for each other. Is it the same for the other inheritor?"

"Of course." Isabella nodded heavily, "We would've explained ourselves if only you hadn't sent people to kill our husband. That's already offensive enough for me to consider if I should ever support the Earth Dragon Clan in the future."

"Big words from you two, who have not even reached the Immortal King Stage. However, since you seem so determined, I'll try to convince the elders in the Earth Dragon Clan to stop bothering you two."

"Truly?" Isabella's brows raised in doubt.

"But in exchange, a part of the immortal inheritance should belong to us. Otherwise, there's no way I could agree to this matter, much less those old fools back in the Earth Dragon Clan."

Patriarch Klavius shook his head, causing Isabella to giggle with innate disdain.

"I don't care. I'm confident enough to grow secluded in the Aurora Cloud Gate before I come out to kill you all one by one. Do you dare to test me?"

"Ahaha." The Earth Dragon Patriarch also lightly laughed, feeling that this was humorous.

A being who was not even an immortal was threatening him? He couldn't help but shake his head in amusement.

"Miss Isabella Davis, I'm not being threatening right now, and nor are you intimidating. It's impractical, as all I want is for my Earth Dragon Clan to flourish. As long as the immortal treasures you possess from the inheritance can convince the elders to leave you alone as your husband spoke of sincerity, why not take the offer?"

Isabella's expression had eased when the other party had called her by using his name but then, as she listened, her eyes narrowed.

"That's my husband's opinion. As for mine, that thought was thrown out of my head the moment the Earth Dragon Clan sent an army of immortals to kill my husband."

"Kill? I only told them to capture him. It was the Fire Phoenix Clan that was intent on killing him, if you don't know, not to mention your husband somehow turned it around and killed our soldiers. Who's the one bearing a loss? You or me? I'm already incensed enough to have lost an entire Division over this matter. Do you think it's going to be easy for me to convince the grand elders?"

Patriarch Klavius appeared to be angered as he explained, finally waving his hand.

"If you don't want this outcome, then I'll simply leave it here. The others from the Earth Dragon Clan would appear to trouble you even without me having to take action."

"Then-"

"Enough. You two think you're in any position to negotiate? It seems that I gave you two younglings too much face."

Patriarch Klavius harrumphed in derision before he turned to look at Elder Aradiel Furiose.

"Elder, this junior is thankful for your patience. As you said, the Earth Dragon Clan will settle this dispute through the official channels, so I'll take my leave then."

"Please…"

Elder Aradiel Furiose stretched out his hand as he gestured, causing the entourage of the Earth Dragon Clan to leave.

Patriarch Klavius gave them one last look of warning before he shook his head and left.

"So the talks failed," Davis articulated as he released a breath. His tone was as though it was as expected.

"Mhm." Isabella's expression became complex as she turned to look at him, "We don't have a choice, do we?"

"Nope, it's always do or die until one of us regrets it."

Davis lightly smiled, causing Isabella to look at him with affectionate eyes. It had been a long time since he cuddled her, making her want to experience that passion they held for each other.

However, a cough echoed beside.

"Lad, you better have evidence for your self-defensive actions when you killed their soldiers."

Elder Aradiel Furiose pointed at Davis as he questioned, causing Davis to instantly turn into a 'good' disciple as he cupped his hands with bright eyes.

"Of course, the evidence is with many people as they witness me being barraged by the Fire Phoenix Clan, Earth Dragon Clan, and even some assassins. I imagine not only would they be sold in many quantities, but I can also say with assurance that the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan would be willing to aid in proving my innocence."

"You better be innocent in this matter, or you're getting expelled at the very least. Hmph!"

Elder Aradiel Furiose gave off an oppressive air before his figure disappeared like the wind.

Davis blinked, wondering why this old man kept his act even till the end while asking him for self-defensive actions.

Why help him when the old man had no evidence that he did no wrong?

Was it because the old man knew that he met with Saintess Lunaria and came back alive to see the light of the day?

In that case, he was marked a good or law-abiding Divergent for the moment?

Davis imagined a few scenarios of how this would've gone but certainly didn't expect an overpowered Immortal Emperor to step in and resolve the issue. Instead, he was hoping for the Immortal Kings to fight and the aggressive parties to offend the Aurora Cloud Gate so he could sit back and watch and even see if the Aurora Cloud Gate was worth being in.

Nonetheless, he returned his gaze to his third wife and asked.

"What were you about to ask the Earth Dragon Patriarch, Isabella?"
