2949 Failure

"…!"

The Immortal Kings gathered in this region were stunned at the sudden appearance of the Emperor of Death, the person they had been looking for so long that they went to war with the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan, who supported him.

"You!- What are you doing!? Escape!"

The Starlight Jade Wolf King yelled out loud as he took his giant blade from Great Ancestor Zenflame's neck and flew towards the walls of the city.

However, he was already too late.

Patriarch Killian Zenflame and the surrounding foes were already upon the Emperor of Death, surrounding him as they hurled their deadly attacks that even a Level Three Immortal Emperor wouldn't survive!

*BOOOM!~*

Flames, ice, sand, wind, water, lightning, darkness, light, sound, soul attacks, and even poison!

Myriad elements flew everywhere like giant raindrops, each one aiming to tear apart flesh and blood of the Emperor of Death! The enemy had attacked together without any plan or coordination, striking fast enough before anyone could respond.

Their speed and power made the scene seem ethereal, exploding upon the comparatively small figure of the Emperor of Death with wrath!

"It's over. You cannot escape this time, Emperor of Death. Your death is inevitable no matter what you do."

Patriarch Killian Zenflame grinned with utter confidence as his gaze then fell on the distant Starlight Jade Wolf King, who had stopped, unable to rush and save the Emperor of Death in time.

The others also caught a glance at the Starlight Jade Wolf King's stunned expression. A single look at the situation would make anyone realize that there was little hope of victory for the Starlight Jade Wolf King, not even if he had ten lives.

It made them grin, knowing that this war finally turned in their favor because of the stupid decision of the Emperor of Death.

"Young fools really do like to show off."

"It has been the downfall of geniuses from the beginning of time."

"Hahaha~ Even Anarchic Divergents aren't free from that rule, I see."

Patriarch Zenflame looked down on the helpless man and said these words calmly, "As the leader of the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan, I'm sure you can understand that your fate has been sealed. There will be no way for you to save yourself, not even by running away!"

His tone was again calm and cold, completely different from the excitement and rage he had shown earlier when facing the Emperor of Death.

The Starlight Jade Wolf King had his head lowered. His overflowing undulations at Level Nine Immortal King Beast Stage suddenly became silent as though he was going to give up. Seeing this scene, everyone knew this was inevitable.

He was going to surrender. There was no longer any meaning in this battle since the Emperor of Death was dead. They couldn't sense his undulations as the smoke cleared, not to mention they repeatedly sent waves of wind to clear the obstruction as fast as possible, leaving only the torn spatial cracks that were rapidly restoring themselves.

*Vshh!~*

But suddenly, the Starlight Jade Wolf King's aura spiked, making everyone frown in shock.

The Starlight Jade Wolf King lifted his head, the intense redness around his eyes and mouth contrasting with the white skin underneath it. His eyes were filled with determination that seemed impossible for him to suppress, but the aura coming from him felt like someone else's presence- no, it was changing.

"Oh no! The King is breaking through!"

The Starlight Jade Wolf King's people instantly recognized the change.

Dark clouds began forming above, thundering ever so lightly.

"Hehe~ What a fool. Does he think of himself to be an Anarchic Divergent?"

Patriarch Killian Zenflame's calm expression changed into one of a mocking sneer, and so did the others.

By undergoing this Immortal Emperor Beast Stage Tribulation here, the Starlight Jade Wolf King was basically asking them to harass him to death here.

"Everyone, scatter."

"My King!~" The soldiers yelled out with emotion.

Their King was going to sacrifice himself to give them enough time to escape?

Indeed, the Starlight Jade Wolf King was looking to buy time for his people to escape. He quickly came to this realization, knowing the only way he could obtain more time was to undergo his Immortal Emperor Beast Tribulation, which would stop the opposing forces from getting past him as they wouldn't dare try entering the tribulation's range but throw attacks from outside.

"There's no need to be worried for me."

The Starlight Jade Wolf King stretched his hand and waved.

"Instead, curse me for generations to come! This sin is on my-"

"You failed."

However, someone suddenly appeared beside him. It was none other than Third Ancestor Riyard, his old expression appearing somber and unamused.

"Now run. Let this Ancestor save the day for you." He calmly uttered, causing the Starlight Jade Wolf King's heart to shake.

"No!" He shouted, but the Third Ancestor turned to glare at him.

"Live to fight another day. Even if I don't like it, you're still the King the clan needs."

"Take the others and run! You're just going to make my tribulation harder than it needs to be!"

"Coward! Face your failures and prop up the clan through your own hands! Forget your pride and live your life for the clan if you feel you have sinned!"

The two of them shouted at each other while the Starlight Jade Wolf King barely held back the tribulation from starting, yet to push the final bottleneck that had him strapped to the Immortal King Beast Stage.

The opposing forces couldn't help but sneer looking at this scene. They're fighting amongst themselves at this point by caring about each other?

Instead of feeling moved, they were amused by their ranks failing to heed each other's words.

On the battlefield, that was a cardinal blunder.

Even now, their Divergent Hunt Coalition's troops were surrounding them, disallowing them from escaping easily.

The Starlight Jade Wolf King's gaze shook as he had his fists clenched. He couldn't help but turn to look behind as he sensed a familiar figure who went by the name Leila, the Light Sky Wolf Immortal who brought him his brotherhood with the Emperor of Death.

She was here, still looking at him with a bright smile, ready to die if they failed with him despite all warnings from him. She was carrying his child, yet that didn't stop her from not coming here, stop her from taking responsibility together with him, but it made him badly want to retreat from here and protect her, his family, and his clan.
