Fallen Fate Online

183 Fate Knight

Ice, unlike flame, was not capable of destroying something without leaving a trace of it. However, under certain circumstances, ice could even freeze an entire world or a huge monster, all that was needed was enough power.

As Karin's palms touched, a tiny flash the size of a snowflake appeared between them, then, everything around her was covered in a thick layer of ice, freezing right through, and the scolopendra was no exception.

The body of the huge monster stopped, in a heartbeat, turning into an ice statue as if it had been created by some skilled sculptor, taking into account every detail of his work.

Karin smirked, "It turned out quite beautiful, didn't it? Well, I guess now that I have it memorized, I can get rid of it."

Karin walked over to the scolopendra's head, and tapped it lightly, as if it were a door, and cracks went through the monster's body. The scolopendra had long since died, as all its organs had been turned to ice, so, now, it was nothing more than a statue.

Crackle. Crackle. Crackle

Crackles went through the scolopendra as it shattered into millions of ice crystals, which fell like rain on Karin. She watched it all with her arms spread apart and smiled while pacing from one place to another at a certain rate as if she were dancing.

Karin was enjoying the show she herself had put on until a shadow of something fell over her, and it gradually grew larger.

She stopped, looked up, and her gaze grew serious as she elegantly swung her hand from bottom to top as if it were the last movement of her dance.

The ground trembled as a massive ice spike emerged from It, like the tip of an iceberg, it collided at tremendous speed with a huge boulder from the sky falling directly onto Karin.

The ice spike shattered the boulder into wide debris, falling next to Karin, and sinking into the ground, becoming pillars that covered the entire battlefield.

Karin jumped from side to side, not stopping her dance, until all the debris fell.

A cloud of dust rose, covering the entire battlefield in which only one silhouette was visible.

As the dust dispersed slightly, hundreds of stone spikes flew toward Karin, small and strong enough to tear her apart easily.

Karin smirked as she leaned at a strange angle, her head almost touching the ground without her hands holding herself up. All the spikes flew right over her, not even touching her maid outfit.

"Hey, will you stop hiding? I can smell your Fate Energy from a mile away. Maybe we should get to know each other first." Karin touched her lips with narrowed eyes.

Step. Step. Step.

A man in a black coat, hat, and cane slowly emerged from the shadows. Unlike Klaus, he seemed to need that cane, for his back was quite bent as he found it difficult to walk on his own.

"Karin, the Frost Moon..." The man muttered, staring at her intently with his gray eyes that seemed to have viewed everything in the world.

"Oh... So you know who I am? I'm flattered." Karin blushed, covered her mouth with her palm like she was embarrassed, and bowed low, "Nice to meet you. What's your name? This is definitely the first time we've met."

The man sighed, exhaling cold steam, "Erel Uri, Fate Knight. I was on my way here to discuss the upcoming tournament with the Academy Head, but... I was lucky enough to run into a rat who's been escaping us forever."

Karin puffed up, pressing her palms against her cheeks, "Hey, why call me names? Do I look like a rat? I'm trying to be a nice girl!"

Erel snorted as he snapped his finger, lifting the massive rocks off the ground.

"You killed Oracle... Right in Red Feather City... That's unprecedented audacity, you... Shattered Moon Order, causing too much trouble." Erel wheezed, pointing his hand at Karin, then, the stones headed at her at great speed.

Karin smiled, opened her palm, and sighed as if she were going to blow away the dust. Her breath was like a frosty blizzard that hit the rocks, quickly turning them to ice and causing them to fall to the ground, shattering into small pieces.

"Hey, do you know you're no match for me? You're just a simple Fate Knight, I wouldn't want to kill you." Karin smirked as she glanced at Erel's cane, "I have a faintness for weak men."

Erel frowned, it annoyed him that Karin didn't take him seriously, since even powerful mages were supposed to treat him with respect.

"Oh... Looks like someone took offense, sorry, I didn't mean to push your weak points." Karin shook her head as if she was actually sorry.

Erel sighed, "Well... I was ready for that. Tell me, why did you do it? Even though you're crazy, you're technically on the side of Fate, rather than Chaos.... You definitely had some reason for doing it, however... I doubt you had a personal beef with this Oracle guy. So you did it for someone else, didn't you?"

Karin frowned for a moment at Erel's assumption, which turned out to be quite accurate, then her sly smile returned to its place.

"Though I am dressed as a maid, it does not mean that I act only as ordered. I am free to make my own decisions, and if I killed that Oracle, then it was necessary." Karin tilted her head as she took a wide step to the right, disappearing behind the stone pillar.

Erel grew wary, he looked around, trying to find Karin, who like a ghost vanished in an instant. Though the situation was strange, they were not allies, and it was Erel's duty to punish whoever dared to kill Oracle.

Whoooooooooooosh.

A powerful stream of wind blew through the stone pillars, heading straight for Erel and forcing him to cover his face with his hands, then, behind him appeared a silhouette with cold green eyes, like a snake that had caught its prey.

Karin's hands gripped Erel's head, as she twisted it sharply 90 degrees, breaking his neck and emptying his eyes that no longer held the fire of life.

Erel fell to the ground, without any movement, since everything happened too fast for him to react.

"Shit... I hate fighting against pesky bastards like that." Karin frowned, looking at Erel's body, which gradually turned to stone until it completely disintegrated into shards.

Karin sighed, crossed her arms, and said, "Hey, maybe you should show yourself already. I'll admit, you hid your aura pretty skillfully, I can't feel anything at all."

She was ready for battle, but regardless of her provocations, Erel was in no hurry to reveal herself. All that surrounded Karin was absolute silence and the oppressive atmosphere of the misty forest.

Crackling.

Suddenly a hand appeared from beneath the ground that gripped Karin's leg tightly, dragging her down sharply.

Strangely enough, Karin didn't resist, she just waited for Erel to execute her plan, quite sure of her victory.

"You're too arrogant... This will ruin you!" Erel exclaimed, coming to the surface with Karin and tossing her up, then he struck the ground with his cane, making it shake violently as if before a powerful earthquake.

Long stone spikes came out of the ground, heading towards Karin and about to pierce her from all angles.

'Hmm... How mediocre...' Karin muttered inwardly, then her gaze drifted to the cave in the distance, 'However... I need to get this idiot as far away from here as possible. Agh, I didn't need to fight that scolopendra now I have a headache waiting for me.'
