Fallen Fate Online

188 The Sword

Zayne's gaze was dark as his eyes intently watched Karin's every move, he knew his opponent was stronger than he was, but he wasn't going to stop because of that.

'I have the first punch that even Enar is forced to defend against, so...I must take advantage of it!' Zayne exclaimed inwardly before stepping forward.

His fist headed straight for Karin, who saw the danger in that blow. Karin's pupils narrowed as she took a step back, missing the blow in front of her.

Whoooooooooosh.

Zayne's fist triggered a powerful stream of wind that left several scratches on the wall in the distance due to the wind that practically turned into blades under powerful pressure.

"Not bad! Show me more of what you can do!" Karin exclaimed with an excited expression approaching Zayne. She quickly attacked, but Zayne was able to dodge thanks to his increased stats as well as the Titles he already had plenty of.

'Wow... This is unexpected...' Zayne inwardly muttered, looking at Karin's palm that passed next to him, 'Before, I couldn't even see an attack like that, but now... Hah, I was able to avoid it in time!'

Inside Zayne appeared a sincere joy because of his success and development, but, acting arrogant against Karin was not the best decision.

Karin stepped forward, raising a cloud of dust as her left hand turned into a blurry mint, bearing down on Zayne's cheek with incredible speed. It was a mighty slap that knocked Zayne aside and smashed his lip, causing blood to rush outward.

"Fuck! That hurt..." Zayne frowned, spitting out a clot of blood and quickly regaining his senses.

"Your reflexes aren't bad, considering your age and the fact that you're a Traveler, that's pretty amazing. However, you shouldn't get cocky. If I were serious, even without using your skills I could kill you in seconds." Karin said in a calm tone, but gradually her voice grew colder, making Zayne wary.

Karin sighed, "How many more attacks do you have left?"

Zayne was puzzled, then he realized what Karin was talking about and his eyes went wide, "Seven..."

"I see... You only have eight moves, just for your own notice it's one of the shortest dances I know." Karin glanced at him.

Zayne's gaze darkened, he decided it was something bad or a flaw in his main skill.

"Don't make that face. The number of moves doesn't mean anything, it's how you use them that counts. Don't forget that the Dance comes from your qualities." Karin raised her finger, wanting to focus all of Zayne's attention; it seemed important to her that Zayne learn something today.

Zayne looked away, at his sword, which now had very little purple flame around it, however, before he could use his weapon, there was still some time left.

'Well... If I do this I might be able to surprise her. Even though it's a friendly fight, I have to set myself some kind of goal... I should at least scratch her!' Zayne pondered, nodded, and dashed forward with a gaze as sharp as blades.

Karin grew wary, she stood up in a fighting stance, ready to take Zayne's next punch.

A blue flash appeared in his eyes as his arms and legs were covered in a thin layer of energy that made all his movements much faster.

Zayne quickly appeared in front of Karin, attacking as fast as he could at all. There was a thin blue plume of energy behind his fist.

Karin swung her arm, easily tossing Zayne's fist aside, then she stepped forward, about to sink her palm into his stomach. However, as if copying her, Zayne did as she had done earlier. He threw her hand away, advancing straight toward her.

'What...? Did he just do the same thing I did? No, he just reacted quickly, this blow wasn't as powerful as the first one, but it's much faster now. It's interesting...' Karin pondered inwardly, preparing to dodge.

Whoooooooosh.

Karin made a sharp turn in one place, puzzling Zayne, then her silhouette turned into a shadow as she found herself behind Zayne.

Zayne shuddered, he felt something heading toward him that sent shivers through his body. He turned around, at the last moment blocking Karin's attack, he gripped her palm tightly, preventing her from advancing any further.

"Hah, I wasn't wrong, on your third attack you got a lot faster, and also your energy got bigger. I wonder what will happen at the very end." Karin smirked, narrowed her eyes, and jumped slightly above the ground.

'What... What is she doing...? I'm still holding her hand.' Zayne inwardly muttered with a confused expression.

Crackling.

Before he could comprehend anything Karin's leg collapsed on his right, exerting powerful pressure on his ribs.

"Agh!" Zayne gasped, with drops of blood flying out from the mighty attack.

[One of your ribs was broken!]

[Two of your ribs were cracked!]

[You began to bleed weakly internally!]

"Get out!" Zayne exclaimed furiously, quickly delivering his fourth blow, creating a burst of blue energy in front of him.

Karin elegantly did a backflip, retreating to a safe distance.

"What the fuck was that?" Zayne frowned, staring intently at Karin while holding onto the point of impact to at least soften the pain.

"Hmm? I thought I kicked you in the ribs, not the head... Wait... I think I got it." Karin smirked, "Did you think my attacks weren't serious? Obviously, I'm not fighting at my best, but if you were wrong, you should get punished for it. Don't worry, I won't let you die."

Zayne didn't say anything, he just stood up in a fighting stance as scarlet wings opened behind him. Karin had seen Zayne use this skill before, but she wasn't prepared for two skills at once.

'Now he will make a lightning dash forward, but given that this is his fifth movement, he will be even faster than when fighting a spider, right?' Karin pondered, trying to anticipate Zayne's every move.

For a moment, Zayne's gaze shifted toward the sword, Karin noticed it and looked that way too, but when her eyes returned to their previous point there was no Zayne.

Whoooooooooooooosh.

Zayne appeared directly in front of Karin, as well as his fist which in a heartbeat should have caved in her face. It was impossible to block or bounce aside as Karin had too little time.

"What...?" Zayne's eyes went wide when suddenly Karin leaned back as a loud crunch of her bones could be heard, as if for this movement she had broken them.

Karin abruptly extended her arms forward, looking at Zayne's fist covered in blue energy passing over her, then, Zayne's stomach sagged as if from a powerful blow, and he was thrown aside with a massive shockwave.

Crackle.

Zayne flew like a projectile to the other side of the cave, colliding with the cold stone wall with his back, causing it to crack and stalactites to fall from the ceiling that collapsed right in front of him.

"Shit... This is bad..." Zayne muttered, looking at his bloody hands and the wide red stain on his coat in the area of his stomach that was rapidly increasing.

He didn't know how much HP he had left, but he didn't need to since everything in front of his eyes was floating, which showed how bad his condition was.

"Get up! You can still fight! It's obvious!" Karin exclaimed sternly, however, it did not affect him at all.

Zayne clenched his teeth, slowly getting up, but as soon as he took one step he immediately fell to the ground.

'Shit... I guess I overdid it...' Karin frowned as she glanced at her ring, 'He managed to outsmart me, so I had to go full force for a while, but... it was definitely a mistake.'

Karin wanted to see what Zayne would do next, she was curious to see his sixth, seventh, and eighth moves, but she knew their fight had to end.

'Well, that will be a lesson to me. We need to help him, it won't be good at all if he dies.' Karin said to herself as her ring sparkled brightly, but, no sooner had the object appeared in her hand than her eyes went wide, and the ring faded.

She stared shakily at Zayne, behind whom appeared the massive silhouette of a black wolf with eyes as red as bloody rubies. The wolf's pupils stared at Karin in a predatory way, as if she were the one in the trap, with a devious smirk.

'What's going on...? Karin was puzzled, 'Why does he have this skill...? Wait, did it activate on its own without his involvement? No way!'

Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.

Zayne stepped forward slowly, breathing deeply and exhaling cold steam. Though his condition had changed, his wounds were still there, so he was in pain and could hardly see anything.

Let's go... Whether it's a practice match or not... There is a strong opponent against you, which means you must do everything in your power to defeat her! Even if it's impossible!' A majestic voice echoed in Zayne's head, then his gaze became sharper.

All he saw was the sword, its flame almost gone as if it were his only option.
