Fallen Fate Online

208 Awakening

For Elein, accepting her position was difficult. She had to accept that she needed to lose, that for her it was an advantage rather than a disadvantage. However, it was not so easy for her.

She was used to winning, and now she needed to transcend her ambition, to then see the new heights she could now reach.

Osvald stood in one place for a long time, waiting for Elein to come to her senses.

Then, she looked at him intently and said, "I don't know if I can take it, but... one thing I definitely have to do. Thank you for saving me. If it wasn't for you, I'd be in a dark basement right now instead of on this bed."

Osvald nodded, "Sure. It's my duty. After all, I made a promise to your grandfather that I would always look out for you. I'm glad Fallen Fate came along, otherwise at my age, it would have been hard to perform stunts like that on the bridge."

Elein smiled bitterly with a slight nod. Osvald was the only person close to her since her parents died just a couple of days after she was born in a plane crash.

Her grandfather taught her everything after that, but even though he was the wisest and strongest man Elein knew, it had no bearing on his age. Before death, everyone was equal.

...

Zayne was the next to wake up, he had received the most wounds, and his mind was seriously laden with various events. However, someone very close to him was a little faster.

A girl with black hair and green eyes woke up. She was in a hospital room, but everything around her was completely different as if she were not in her hospital.

Crackle. The crackle. The crackle.

The first thing she heard was an unusual crunch as if someone was eating chips, and Mia was right.

Sitting next to the window, was Luke. In his hands was a packet of particularly spicy chips, which he continued to eat while staring at one point as if it was already at a reflex level for him.

"Who are you...?" Mia muttered with a confused expression.

Luke didn't respond in any way, he didn't even seem to hear her. Mia repeated several more times, and only then did Luke come out of his thoughts and turn to her.

"Oh... Are you finally awake?" Luke smiled. He looked at Mia, then at the chips, and held them out to her, "Do you want one?"

Mia quickly shook her head, "No, no, no. I guess I'm not ready for something that spicy, and I'm not really hungry..."

Luke shrugged nonchalantly. If Mia said no means he'd get more, and in fact, that option suited him more than any other.

"So... Who are you? And why am I in the other room?" Mia asked in puzzlement.

Luke sighed, "I'm a friend of your brother's. Well, he probably doesn't know it yet, but we'll fix that soon." Luke looked out the window, "What about your second question... Well, you should have phrased it somewhat differently. You're not in another room, you're in another hospital."

"What...?" Mia's eyes went wide as she turned, looking out the window.

Outside were not the familiar city streets, roads, and old buildings that were around her old hospital. She saw a garden, a low brick fence, and a few ornamental fountains next to fruit trees. It looked like a tiny paradise.

"Why am I here...? What is this place...?" Mia muttered with a dazed look.

Luke sighed, "You have Alice to thank for that. Just so you know, only politicians and various very high-level government officials are treated here. Without her help, you never would have ended up here, even if you had the money."

Luke answered her question, but it didn't help her at all because now Mia had even more questions and was completely baffled. She didn't know who Alice was or why this girl had helped her.

"Agh... You don't seem to understand anything at all, well, I've never been good at explaining things. I think you should watch this, then you'll find a way to find out the answers to your questions."

Luke stood up, shook off the crumbs right to the floor, and handed Mia the phone that already had a definite video open.

"Bye." Luke waved, walking quickly out of the room.

Mia didn't stop him as her gaze was fixed on the phone screen. She watched as a woman with a katana sliced her hospital in two, and her brother, stepped in to try to protect her.

Luke and Alex found a reporter who had unique footage and that's what Mia was watching right now. She couldn't believe what she was seeing as her brother had inhuman powers and was literally turning into a creepy beast.

Then, she started watching the next video, it had many variations, as many media outlets were filming Zayne's fight on the bridge.

When the video ended, Mia put her phone aside and looked out the window, directing her gaze toward the sun.

Her eyes sparkled, and a happy smile appeared on her face, then she murmured, "As long as he's okay... I wonder who took him off the bridge? I'd like to meet him..."

...

"Agh!" Zayne woke up abruptly, getting out of bed with his eyes wide open.

He felt very strange; he felt sick and good at the same time as if his mind and body were acting differently.

"Damn... My head is splitting apart... but... this lightness all over my body... it feels really good..." Zayne muttered, clenching and unclenching his fists.

He looked around and realized that he was not at home. He was lying on a wide bed in a room with various paintings on the walls and several ancient vases on the stands.

Zayne nodded. He realized he was at Galahan's house, not because everything around him looked expensive, but because outside the window, there was nothing but thick clouds.

'Only Galahan I know lives this high up... Damn, I still can't believe there are people who enjoy this view every day...' Zayne muttered inwardly, climbed off the bed, and headed for the window.

He had seen this kind of scenery several times before, but it was impossible to get used to it.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

Suddenly the room shuddered slightly, as several paintings began to sway, then everything calmed down.

"What...? What was that?" Zayne tilted his head in confusion as he heard sounds familiar to him.

He descended to the lower tier, made his way to the wide door, and opened it. He saw two silhouettes attacking each other, occasionally using skills.

The left shadow's arms were covered in water, while the right shadow used bright red flames.

After a while, they stopped, as their strength was running out, and noticed Zayne, who had been watching their fight the whole time.

"Oh... You're finally awake." Alex smiled, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

"Agh... Agh... Agh... You slept a hell of a lot, you know?" Alice muttered, breathing heavily. Her stamina was much less than Alex's, she was having a hard time keeping up with his pace.

"Looks like you wasted no time..." Zayne muttered. He was surprised that these two were sparring right here.

Alex grinned, "Well, we just got out of Fallen Fate Online an hour ago. You have to be in the real world, too, and keep in shape, don't you?"

Zayne nodded.

He looked around and asked, "Can I go home? I've wasted a hell of a lot of time because of all these events. I have to get back to Fallen Fate."

Alice shook her head, "Unfortunately, you can't go home yet. I don't know how, but the reporters found out you were living at Alex's house, so now they're constantly on duty there, waiting for you to show up."

"But..." Zayne was confused.

"Don't worry. Have you forgotten that I promised you a new capsule? I've already arranged everything. Come with me." Alice waved her hand, gesturing for Zayne to follow her.

They walked through several doors before stopping in a wide room that was the size of a full apartment. It had everything, a bed, a bathroom, a kitchen, and of course a new capsule that Zayne could use to log into Fallen Fate Online.

Tap.

Alex put his hand on Zayne's shoulder.

"I can guess what you want to ask. Yeah, it's all part of Galahan's house, don't worry, he doesn't mind. What's more, his house is so big that you could get lost there alone. It's no big deal if you live here for a while." Alex smiled.

"You and Alice too...?" Zayne asked.

"No." Alex shook his head, "Luckily no one is following us. We're going home now, I'm going to go play, and Alice has a lot of work to do. After all, the government hasn't sorted out all the problems yet."

Zayne nodded, he headed toward the capsule, then his eyes went wide and he stopped.

"What about Mia?" Zayne flinched.

Alex smiled, "Don't worry. Alice made sure your sister was okay. Her treatment continues at the best hospital in town."

"Pfffft! It's no big deal." Alice snorted.

Zayne smiled weakly, looking with sincere gratitude at Alice, who seemed unwilling to accept it.
