I Became A System

Chapter 29 - Sister's Affection

"Why did you walk out?" I asked in confusion.

I can understand her, in some manner but really, this proves that sometimes I can't understand her.

My comprehension level is really this small that I even question my identity.

She just sighed while dragging her foot into the backyard garden.

There were trimmed bushes and the trees that cover the walls outside behind it. The air was also breezing nicely as I noticed that the wind brushing through the leaves was just calm.

"I just don't want to be overwrought in that room. I mean, I don't want to talk about it."

"Well, it clearly shows that you were affected by those words."

I am also confused about that girl. Why did she react like that? I know that they don't have good memories, so I can't comprehend her behavior.

Did Ellena become a sister figure for her? Why did she ask, why Ellena left her in this hell?

That's a mystery. The Diana that I knew was a timid and introverted person, so I can't tell if that was normal for her.

"I know. I don't want to talk about it. Even I tell myself that I already moved on, I still can't! That was my fifteen years of living and it's engraved to my memory that much."

I heard Ellena's words of complaining. This is new for her. It may be her first time complaining, apart from the day we got connected.

Ellena is a person who doesn't question things directly. She is like a river that receives the stream from other places then transfers it.

It was at least what I can see.

Confused? Maybe she is. But her mental development was fast that I concluded that she really was a genius but she only needs the perfect environment.

"So what are you going to do?" I asked.

If Ellena chose to choose to leave this manor at once, I don't have any issue with that. It was Amber who came here to convey a message to Diana.

"Nothing. I'll let Amber fix this. I can't manage it."

Unbeknownst to Ellena, Diana was just at her back, standing, listening to her complaints. I was also stunned to only notice her this time, but I have nothing to do with this anymore. Ellena should face things, rather than ignoring them.

"Sister?"

Ellena's eyes widened as she heard Diana's voice from the back. She slowly turned her head after she made her trademark tired expression.

"I already said I'm not your sister." She insisted. Looking at Diana's depressed eyes, she persists in denying Diana's words.

Diana, on the other hand, just chuckled in despair. I know that this girl's head is somewhat not normal, and I know I can't judge her since her life was extremely different from Ellena's.

"Stop lying, I know you are my sister."

"Why do you keep on insisting?"

"Why? Why are you not admitting it?"

"Because I'm not your sister!"

Being Ellena, I know what she feels right now. I think that she is just escaping reality, or perhaps wants to keep her identity secret.

She still keeps on denying that she is not her sister which is really not true. Sighs... I can't comment on this anymore, this is a matter of time.

"Why?... Am I really a that bad person?" Diana started trembling her voice while asking. She still looks into Ellena's eyes.

"Why do you say so?" Ellena asked.

"Mother and Father said that my sister left because she hated me."

Wow. What a lie. Why do they even need to lie if the motive is obvious? She was deemed as a cursed child and they want to get rid of her in their life. Simple as stupid reason as that!

Even the servants knew about this matter. Why would this girl be unaware of it?

"And so? Why does it involve me? When I'm not your sister." Ellena pressed.

"Stop lying. I know you are her. Your eyes and lips are just the same. The only that's different was your hair and aura. But the rest, you are still my sister."

Diana's eyes were sharp. Is her ability perhaps was perceiving through disguise? I don't know if her rune was really a mage rune but still, I commend her sharp eyes.

I think of it as a thing that was really different from this family. The mother was thickhead and the father was strict. They're both stupid.

"Then I just look like her," Ellena said.

"Stop lying! I know your rune! Your rune is the most uncommon rune that no one can be the same."

She really is good at inspecting things. She observed the difference in people's runes and over a year, she still remembers Ellena's rune.

Before she could continue her words, she started crying.

"After you left, I felt I was left in this hell. Our parents' attention was all over me and their expectations are just too high that I can't be compared to you."

"Our parents were stupid. I know that. But I can tell that my sister was the greatest person. Ever since you saved me, I can't help but think why I barely see you."

"Every night, I tell myself, I will pay my debt to you. I will also save you. But I didn't. You left. And the reason was that you hate me. You hate that our parents' attention was only for me."

"That's stupid. Stop crying." Ellena said.

I can finally see in Ellena's eyes that she is sympathizing with this girl. I know that Ellena is really fond of feeling that way when she sees people crying.

"Then why did you leave me? I thought that you saved me because you love me."

"Why? I was only barely 11 that time. I still haven't build up my strength to save you."

"Save me?" Ellena was baffled. This thing... Diana was insisting on this matter. She already said that she was going to save Ellena...

"I know that you are not stupid as how father tells me. You even learned things on your own. How can you be stupid?"

Wow... I think I really need to change how a perceive things. Even children in this world are already this open-minded and smart to understand things. Perhaps, the harsher the environment, the fastest the mind will mature.

It was really true. But in some matters, there are things that result in destruction, in illness... Childhood is the most important phase in people's life. It dictates how the perception of that people will be in the future.

I can tell, this situation right now is the same yet different in angles.

Ellena was neglected while Diana was lied to. They have the same experience, and it is to obey their stupid parents.

I know. I know. That calling people stupid are also stupid. But what will people tell me? They can't even see me. Or even hear me.

I can tell what I want to tell because I can observe everything that happens in Ellena's life.

"Why are you doing this?" Ellena asked.

Perhaps Ellena was doubting Diana. Maybe she thought that telling Diana her real identity, which is obviously discovered, would only result in bad things. Or matters that are hard to manage.

"Why? Because I love you! Why can't you see that?!"

"What? Then... why did..."

I see... Ellena's confused right now. While Diana is bursting into tears, she can't understand everything.

I guess it's just hard for her. Perhaps she wasn't expecting this that she didn't prepare her mind for this.

"You are my sister right?" Diana asked but Ellena didn't reply and just remained silent.

Diana smiled sweetly, wiping her tears after seeing Ellena's expression.

"Thank you!" Suddenly, Diana hugged Ellena, making her surprised, widening her eyes before looking back at Diana.

"H-hey."

"Thank you! And I'm sorry if I wasn't there."

"W-wait."

"Can you tell me? What happened? I know that you really don't hate me. I can tell it right now!"

Ellena was left dumbfounded. Can't react properly in this situation. Perhaps she was thinking everything, how to properly admit herself.

"I... I am your sister..." Ellena said in a low tone.

"You don't have to tell me that again. I can see people's feelings and I know that you finally admitted."

So... it was her ability? Her ability is to look at people's feelings and based on situations, she can assess what people are telling and who they are.

Also, by using information about that person, she can tell what really is right. What a smart way of using that ability.

Is it perhaps a mage rune? That's only the possible rune.

"I... am a cursed child... They cast me out..."

"I knew it. That was all a lie after all."

"You're believing me?"

"Yes. I can see your feelings. I can tell that you're not lying."

Ellena lowered his head before speaking. "Don't look at my feelings. Stop that."

"Why? Oh. I'm sorry."

"I'll have to talk with mother and father." Diana was starting to get into the mansion but Ellena halts her.

Even I would halt her. Why would she do that? I know that it isn't a betrayal but still, she's trying to hide her identity. Can't she understand it?

"I decided.. I'll leave this house."
