Gu Ren turned his head and looked at the direction of Ye Zhi’s voice but he still could not see.

Gu Ren replied with a sigh, “Sorry, I still can’t see.”

Ye Zhi looked at Gu Ren. From the first time they met, Gu Ren gave her the impression that he was perfect, almost omnipotent. He seemed to have everything that people could ever imagine.

She had never seen him so powerless.

So a perfect person like him had his weakness too. Ye Zhi thought.

Ye Zhi calmed down and said, “It’s fine.”

Her voice is very light and soft, “I’ll take you back to your room. There are fragments under your feet. If I hold you, you won’t be hurt.”

Gu Ren remained silent for a few seconds and then looked at Ye Zhi. Although he couldn’t see her face, he knew that Ye Zhi was standing near him in the dark.

Ye Zhi deliberately said, “Mr. Gu, have you forgotten that we are partners?”

So don’t worry about showing weakness in front of me. I will help you just like you helped me.

Gu Ren heard Ye Zhi’s voice. It was clear as if it could break through the veil of deep darkness surrounding him, a layer of shadow seemed to have faded away instantly.

Gu Ren said, “I’ve troubled you, Mrs. Gu.”

Ye Zhi smiled. She reached out her hand and gently took Gu Ren’s hand in her hand.

In the darkness, Gu Ren and Ye Zhi’s hands held each other. One warm and the other cold, two opposite temperatures intertwined at this moment.

Ye Zhi didn’t fully clasped Gu Ren’s hand. She just held his palm lightly, as if she dared not hold him further than it is.

Ye Zhi looked at the shattered fragments on the ground. She carefully avoided it and gently warned, “Follow my instructions, there are broken fragments here. Be careful not to get hurt.”

Gu Ren didn’t hear clearly what Ye Zhi was talking about. He was thinking of other things. He couldn’t see Ye Zhi’s face but he could smell the fragrance of her body.

The cold touch of her palm was also magnified several times. He could feel the cool touch against his palm clearly.

Touch, hearing and even all other subtle things that were usually undetectable could be clearly felt in the darkness.

Gu Ren couldn’t help but bend his fingers unconsciously. His long fingers accidentally brushed the palm of Ye Zhi’s hand.

Ye Zhi trembled and her breath became a little sluggish, her foot tumbled and lost balance. In the end, she fell forward accidentally.

Gu Ren noticed Ye Zhi’s movements and immediately took action—he reached out to catch Ye Zhi and their hands which were loosely holding each other at first tightened and completely held together.

The two of them were stunned.

Gu Ren was the first one to recover, he smiled and said in a voice concealing slight pleasure, “Be careful.”

Ye Zhi’s heartbeat was thrown into disorder the moment she felt Gu Ren’s light breath brush her ear. She felt her face turn incredibly hot and the temperature kept climbing.

Ye Zhi finally recovered, she stood properly again and separated from Gu Ren. Ye Zhi did not dare to wander this time. She led Gu Ren and walked slowly.

The hallway was silent. Only the gentle breathing of two people could be heard.

Ye Zhi’s mood calmed down and she felt a little embarrassed. Ye Zhi thought about it and said, “I…”

Gu Ren listened attentively.

Ye Zhi’s tone was very serious, “I will not tell others about your night blindness.”

Gu Ren kept silent for a few seconds and said softly, “I know.”

While Ye Zhi was stunned, Gu Ren’s voice continued to ring. The voice was still clear and light but with a trace of certainty and trust, “You are not that kind of person.”

According to Ye Zhi’s character, if she could potentially take advantage of his night blindness, then she would not have been so determined to break off the contract and be rid of being controlled by her previous talent agency.

She would not insist on writing down an IOU after borrowing money.
