Ch44 - “Do your wounds still hurt?”

Ye Fei sniggered. So there was an advisor pulling Yan Xiao’s strings.

He suddenly recalled what had happened in the northwest. Yan Xiao had already left, but because of the security camera, he immediately returned. He was kept in the dark, but it did not take a detective to know Cheng Minghao’s work.

For a friend to do the job of a mother, this should be the first in the world.

“Just go home,” Ye Fei grabbed the car keys on the table, glanced at the table, and ensured that there was nothing missing. As he walked out, he told Yan Xiao, “Don’t go shopping.”

Yan Xiao remained silent. It seemed that he was disappointed with being unable to give Ye Fei a surprise.

Ye Fei stepped into the elevator, pressed the floor where the carpark was located, and elucidated, “Seeing you once I get home would be the best surprise for me.”

“I’ll go back.” Yan Xiao said immediately.

Ye Fei gave an obligatory “Okay”, and after saying goodbye to him, he hung up the phone.

On the way home, Ye Fei kept thinking about his relationship with Yan Xiao. Couples usually have a long break-in period when they are together. But amazingly, this issue never cropped up between Yan Xiao and him.

Yan Xiao was far too tolerant and endured too much because of him, giving Ye Fei the confidence to open up. He did not have to foresee Yan Xiao’s thoughts, nor did he need to worry about betrayal. No matter what, Yan Xiao deserved his unreserved trust.

Ye Fei’s biological family was terrible, and he could not be said to lead a happy life in both lifetimes. But Yan Xiao’s unbridled love was enough for him not to feel regret.

The days of unbridled sweetness flowed like water, and soon it was the seventh anniversary of Feixiao Technology.

Ye Fei had already told Gu Ruijia about this appointment. On the 17th, he did not go to work and went directly to Feixiao to attend the event. Gu Ruijia had agreed to man the company during this time, but a last-minute event canceled his plans.

“My brain wasn’t fully functioning when I woke up,” Gu Ruijia lamented as he spoke, “I just poured a glass of water on the computer, and now it can’t be turned on at all.”

“Can’t you use a hairdryer to blow at it, and give it to the repair shop tomorrow?” Ye Fei frowned and put down the chopsticks he held.

“How is that okay! I store a lot of confidential information on my computer,” Gu Ruijia listed to Ye Fei one by one what he held on his precious computer, “Forget the business reports, I have over ten years of photos in my hard drive. If this is all gone, I will go crazy.”

“Just go a bit later,” Ye Fei loudly retorted while checking the address of a nearby computer store, “Isn’t Feixiao’s anniversary party starting at seven o’clock?”

After the rapid development of Tianxi in the past six months, it was no longer a small studio set-up. In-house dramas and movies were in full swing, and many actors had been signed on. They had also gathered and improved various resources. At this time, they could not leave the company with no head.

“Okay, don’t worry, go get a computer.” Ye Fei thought for a while and nodded in agreement.

During this period of time, he had taken a few days off, and Gu Ruijia was the one in charge. Although he regretted that he could only join the seventh anniversary of Feixiao later, they really had no choice.

After finishing the call, Ye Fei told Yan Xiao about the situation and changed his plan to go to Tianxi.

He wanted to get off work earlier, but as luck would have it, the number of work commitments increased. Whenever Ye Fei felt that he was almost ready to leave, there would be more work to be done. He was busy until six, before he was able to escape and hurry to the anniversary venue.

“Have a conversation with the staff?” Ye Fei recalled Yan Xiao’s extremely poor comprehension ability when communicating, and held back his laughter, “Can they even talk on the same channel?”

Cheng Minghao understood what he meant, and guffawed. “You think too much. They were talking about company development and welfare, there isn’t any room for misunderstanding.”

“That’s fine.” Ye Fei followed Cheng Minghao around a corner, and was about to continue walking forward when he looked up and found Yan Xiao standing there.

“Speak of the devil,” Cheng Minghao looked at Yan Xiao, pointed to Ye Fei and announced, “Brother Xiao, I brought him to you.”

As soon as his voice fell, a burst of music suddenly came from the venue.

Cheng Minghao gave an “Ouch”, turned around and told Ye Fei, “The party is about to start, let’s go in quickly.”

Ye Fei nodded and was about to stride forward when Yan Xiao grabbed his wrist.

“Have you eaten?” Yan Xiao asked.

Ye Fei did not even think about having dinner, so he indifferently returned, “No.”

“Wait here,” Yan Xiao stated, heading towards the side, “I’ll go get you something to eat.”

“No need,” Ye Fei stopped him, “I’m not hungry at all, just go in first.”

During the day, Yan Xiao had sent him the seating arrangements. Their seats were at the center of the front of the venue. They were VVIPs, and their every move would be watched.

If they had entered late, the audience would know that the boss, Yan Xiao, was late.

“Let’s eat a little,” Yan Xiao insisted, “Otherwise, you will be hungry.”

Ye Fei was unable to dissuade him and thus compromised. “Then take less, I won’t be able to finish it.”

“Okay,” Yan Xiao let go of Ye Fei, and walked towards the waiting staff. After an exchange, the two disappeared together at the end of the corridor.

Five minutes later, Yan Xiao came back with two sandwiches.

“Your company’s corporate culture and administration are really good,” Ye Fei tore the package and took a bite of the sandwich, “They even have this kind of thing ready.”

Yan Xiao chose not to reply and merely stroked Ye Fei’s hair to the side for him.

“It’s been a long time since I cut my hair,” Ye Fei swallowed, “I’ll cut my hair after I finish this.” He looked up at Yan Xiao, “Brother Yan, are you going?”

“Going.”

“I thought you didn’t like the salon?” When Ye Fei mentioned this, he recalled what had occurred when he was first reborn. He gave a playful wink to Yan Xiao and asked, “You were trying to escape from the hair salon the last time, right? Why did you agree later?”

Yan Xiao still maintained his solemn expression, but glanced to the side, attempting to hide his thoughts. He acted as if other matters concerned him. “Let’s go in.”

Ye Fei threw the wrapping paper into the trash can. Seeing that no one was around, he scratched his palm with her fingers and smirked. “You like me so early.” He paused, as the strangeness of the event occurred to him.

“Then why have you never shown it?” Not only had he not been obvious, but Yan Xiao’s taciturn face had caused Ye Fei to think that he did not want any interaction with him.

“You don’t like people who are not reserved.” What made him think so? Ye Fei was about to ask for further clarification when he noticed that they had entered the venue. He could only swallow his words and control his expression before they sat.

Feixiao Technology’s anniversary party was quite exciting, and many well-known stars were invited. The employees were so enthusiastic that they almost broke off the glow sticks in their hands. Ye Fei was infected by such a frenetic atmosphere, and also hummed and waved his hands in unison. However, as he inspected the cast, his occupational disease scratched away.

Tianxi only had professional actors but no traffic stars nor pop idols. He had been looking for people who could sing and dance, but was unable to find someone suitable. He did not expect to meet such a talent here.

Ye Fei raised his phone, took a video of the energetic little fresh meat on the stage, and sent it to Gu Ruijia.

[Brother Fei: What do you think of him? Is it suitable to come to our company for development? ]

Gu Ruijia quickly replied to him.

[Diligent Gu: Qin Feng?]

Ye Fei stared at the stage until his eyes started to hurt from the flashing light. He turned his head slightly and leaned against Yan Xiao before he started typing—

[Brother Fei: Yeah, he’s one of Feixiao’s guests.]

[Diligent Gu: Very good, my cousin likes him very much, did you like him? ]

[Brother Fei: Mmmm. ]

[Brother Fei: Good face, tall stature, and good body proportions. I heard that he can even play musical instruments, so talented. ]

Yan Xiao had been peeking at Ye Fei from the corner of his eyes. As such, he could detect when Ye Fei had bent his head down, and wanted to see what was happening. Unexpectedly, his eyes found Ye Fei’s phone screen.

—Very good, my cousin likes him very much, did you like him?

—Mmmm.

—Good face, tall stature, and good body proportions. I heard that he can even play musical instruments, so talented.

Yan Xiao pursed his lower lip, his eyes darkened as he glimpsed Ye Fei’s face.

The enthusiasm in the venue decreased as the stage changed its cast and a new celebrity performed a ballad. Ye Fei peeped to the side, and met eyes with Yan Xiao.

“Are you looking at me?” He smirked and was about to continue his conversation with Gu Ruijia when his wrist was tugged at. His palm was emptied. When he reacted to his phone’s disappearance, it had already made its way to Yan Xiao’s hand.

“Okay, I’m not playing anymore.” Ye Fei was not worried, and thought that Yan Xiao merely wanted him to pay attention to the stage. He shrugged his shoulders and let him off.

The person in charge of the party planned the program well. Ye Fei quickly became immersed in it and forgot about his phone.

By the time it was over, it was almost eleven o’clock in the night. Yan Xiao ignored the hesitant eyes of the executives behind him, held Ye Fei’s hand tightly and walked out of the venue, ordering the driver to drive home immediately.

Ye Fei saw that Yan Xiao was in a bad mood, and after reflecting on the past night’s events, he could not tell what had offended Yan Xiao. He concluded that Yan Xiao must have been annoyed by the loud beats of the music during the performance, and thus closed his eyes to rest.

When passing a convenience store, Yan Xiao suddenly ordered the driver to stop.

“What’s wrong?” Ye Fei opened his eyes.

“Ye Fei,” Yan Xiao called his name and asked without answering, “Do your wounds still hurt?”

Ye Fei was dumbfounded by Yan Xiao’s words. “It’s okay now..” He rolled up his sleeves and raised his arms in front of Yan Xiao, “Look, there are no traces left.”

Yan Xiao gave a noncommittal reply and opened the door of the car.

What’s with the mystery? Ye Fei did not know what medicine Yan Xiao was selling in his gourd. He decided not to concern himself and pulled on the blanket to continue sleeping.

After a while, Yan Xiao came back with an opaque plastic bag in hand.

When the car started again, Ye Fei yawned and asked him, “What did you buy?”

Yan Xiao looked at him silently, and firmly held his hand. He did not answer. Ye Fei was too sleepy and did not ask any further questions. Instead, he nudged Yan Xiao and leaned on his shoulder, remaining in blessed bewilderment until they reached their house.

The sound of their digital security lock ‘dinged’ as they crept into their home. Ye Fei stepped into the house and turned to ask Yan Xiao, “About tonight…”

Ye Fei’s sentence was never finished. Instead, his world spun, and when he came to, he had been pressed aggressively into the door by Yan Xiao. The automatic lights flickered on one by one, and Yan Xiao’s eyes had grown possessive as Ye Fei stared in confusion. Ye Fei’s vision turned black, and in the next moment, his lips were bitten by an aggressive kiss.

They exchanged heated breaths, curling against one another. Their chests heaved in unison, and Ye Fei’s neck felt numb. His waist weakened, and he could not help but reach for Yan Xiao’s arm to steady himself. Yan Xiao’s lips were burning, and he deepened the kiss. Ye Fei’s neck turned to the side, as he quietly sucked in a deeper breath.

Something dropped, making a softened thud as it hit the carpet. Ye Fei subconsciously glanced over, and his eyes widened.

The bag that Yan Xiao had been carrying in his hand when he came out of the convenience store was now scattered at their feet, revealing its contents — condoms and lubricant.
