TL: Moonlit

After the initial panic, Shu Shuishui, who was caught, quickly calmed down. These seven humans were the first group of beings he had encountered since entering this world. Although Shu Shuishui felt that encountering seven humans was not as interesting as encountering seven grasshoppers, it at least proved that there were still living creatures on this planet.

Shu Shuishui temporarily gave up struggling and prepared to follow these people. It saved him the trouble of driving himself, especially since, back on Earth, with his adorable face, he never worried about humans eating him.

But the reality was different.

Shu Shuishui was held by the back of his neck and placed on a large leaf. The person then rolled him up several times, turning him into a cocoon-like shape.

Shu Shuishui: !!!

After rolling up the dormouse, the person intended to put Shu Shuishui over the fire while providing an explanation to the others. “Actually, if we had lotus leaves, they would give the best flavor, but lotus leaves are hard to store and carry, not to mention hard to find.”

“Brother Chun, can we eat this? It’s the first time I’ve seen such a mouse.” Someone next to him asked cautiously.

The man who rolled up the dormouse hadn’t spoken yet, but Shu Shuishui, with only his head able to move, shook it frantically.

Everyone: !!!

All eyes turned towards Shu Shuishui, who was being held in the rolled-up dormouse. Even the man holding him was startled.

“Brother Chun, did the mouse just shake its head? Can it understand us?”

“I saw it too. This is so damn strange.”

A young man reached out and poked Shu Shuishui’s chubby cheek. “Can you understand what we’re saying?”

Shu Shuishui neither nodded nor shook his head. He remembered Shu Bao’s advice not to show intelligence in front of humans, not to speak or communicate, unless he transformed into a human form one day.

As the rolled-up Shu Shuishui weighed the possibility of not speaking and being roasted over the fire, the man called Brother Chun, raised his hand and slapped the young man. “Are you stupid? Can a mouse understand anything?”

The young man felt a bit wronged. “I just feel that this mouse is a bit different.” What exactly was different? For example, it didn’t look as repulsive, it was chubby and cute, and after being caught, it hardly struggled, wearing an obedient expression.

Brother Chun was indifferent. “Do you know how long it’s been since I last tasted meat? Besides, it’s still made of meat.”

Shu Shuishui felt desperate. What kind of crazy world was this where they ate dormice rolled up in vegetables? It was unbearable!

Just as Shu Shuishui was about to violently break free from the vegetable roll, the sound of an engine roared closer, followed by a dazzling beam of headlights shining directly toward them.

The seven people huddled together instinctively raised their hands to shield their eyes or averted their gaze. Shu Shuishui’s eyes were also blinded by the light.

At that moment, a series of screams rang out one after another. When Shu Shuishui opened his eyes again, he had undergone a change of ownership! Looking at the seven people who were overturned on the ground, Shu Shuishui had a feeling as if he were watching an action-packed blockbuster with popcorn, under the condition that he wasn’t rolled up in the vegetable and held by someone.

However… this person’s hand… why was it so good-looking!!! Shu Shuishui suddenly became spirited, and both of his little ears trembled with excitement. He even quietly pulled his little paws out from the slightly loosened vegetable roll, then stealthily extended his paw to touch the hand holding the roll, wearing a satisfied expression on his face.

Suddenly, the hand that was touched by the furry creature “…”

Gu Langgu didn’t have a sense of touch, but that didn’t mean he lost his ability to perceive. On the contrary, the artificial neural fibers in his body had a nerve conduction speed several gradients higher than that of humans. So, the moment Shu Shuishui extended his paw to touch the hand, Gu Langgu’s brain received feedback.

[Warning, unknown soft fur resembling a mouse-like unknown creature’s active touch. Consequences unknown!]

[Warning, unknown soft fur resembling a mouse-like unknown creature has achieved its desired outcome. Be cautious.]

[No current abnormality in the body, warning! Increased heart rate, suspected attack by the unknown soft fur creature.]

The above information was fed to Gu Langgu’s brain in less than a millionth of a second, but Gu Langgu found himself somewhat at a loss, holding the vegetable roll like a naive youth suddenly being ambushed by an old hooligan, frozen in place.

The mischievous dormouse thought it had smoothly retracted its criminal paws, then looked at the newcomer with big watery eyes, pretending to be weak, helpless, and pitiful.

Gu Langgu looked at the little pet rolled up in the vegetable, with only the furry head exposed, along with the two front paws that had just managed to break free. The front paws… enmmmm, they looked very squeezable.

Shu Shuishui’s two front paws twitched involuntarily, trying hard to ignore the burning gaze of someone. However, that gaze was not concealed in the slightest and instead showed a strong interest in his paws. Shu Shuishui hid his two front paws behind his back, trying to reassure himself that they weren’t bear paws, so maybe, possibly, no one would want to eat them…

The seven men who had been thrown off the ground also got up, especially Brother Chun, who finally had a chance to eat meat. The vegetable roll that was in his hands flew away, and how could he be willing to let it go? However, his enraged expression softened when he saw the man who had taken his food. “Gu Langgu?”

The others who were ready to fight also hesitated, their uncertain gazes turning to the man who had suddenly arrived.

Gu Langgu’s gaze finally moved away from Shu Shuishui’s paws. In an instant, his pitch-black pupils scanned the situation of the seven people, and a trace of blue light flickered in his deep eyes.

The seven people were visibly startled by the light that passed over Gu Langgu’s eyes, which clearly didn’t belong to a human. They took a step back, having spent only a short time in the Cang Zhan Star and naturally heard of Gu Langgu’s notorious reputation in the outside world. They momentarily lost all their fighting spirit, unsure if Gu Langgu would let them go.

Under the nervous gaze of the seven people, Gu Langgu made a move. Once again, the seven individuals involuntarily took two steps back. However, Gu Langgu merely walked over to the overturned toy car and picked it up.

The people: ???

Before entering the Cang Zhan Star, Gu Langgu had acquired a large amount of confidential information about the Cang Star System, including various notorious criminals and high-risk individuals. While he didn’t have all the information about these seven individuals, he knew quite a bit.

Gu Langgu turned around and got into the off-road vehicle he had driven. The seven people who remained in place let out a sigh of relief, but only halfway.

Suddenly, Gu Langgu’s hand, which wasn’t holding the vegetable roll, produced a handgun. After a few muffled gunshots, only three of the seven people were left standing.

Blood gradually disappeared on the faces of the remaining three, who were now somewhat stunned. They didn’t dare to move and watched as Gu Langgu drove away.

The surviving three individuals couldn’t understand Gu Langgu’s sudden act of killing and how he chose his targets. Consequently, the news of Gu Langgu’s unpredictable behavior and potential to kill at any moment spread once again.

The reason Gu Langgu killed the four individuals was simple. These four were extremely heinous criminals, with a long list of crimes to their name and countless lives lost at their hands. They had taken the initiative to flee to the Cang Zhan Star to escape punishment.

In fact, there were many people like them on the Cang Zhan Star. Besides prisoners of war, it was a haven for exiles, and the people who sought refuge here were a mixed bag. Gu Langgu had no intention of completely cleaning up the evildoers and usually minded his own business. However, today, it was because they had rolled up the little pet and kicked over its toy car, and even planned to roast the small pet while expressing disdain for the absence of lotus leaves. It was simply unbearable.

In the spacious off-road vehicle, Shu Shuishui was placed on the passenger seat, and his own toy car that he had been carried in was placed next to him. After Gu Langgu put Shu Shuishui down, he didn’t make any other unnecessary movements. He simply drove steadily in the desert under the bright night sky.

Gu Langgu possessed powerful enhanced vision, allowing him to see the surrounding conditions clearly at night. He could also scan for quicksand and identify drivable routes.

The vegetable roll was still wrapped around Shu Shuishui, but it had become looser compared to before. Looking up at the man driving seriously, Shu Shuishui’s gaze shifted to the hands on the steering wheel, and his little ears trembled once again, standing upright.

Although the man didn’t speak or make any comforting gestures, Shu Shuishui was certain that he wouldn’t be eaten. It seemed that his glorious and beautiful appearance hadn’t lost its effect. It was highly probable that this man had taken a liking to him, and he was also a good person. As for why he was a good person, it was naturally because bad people wouldn’t have such good-looking hands.

The desert was quiet in the night, with a bright moon hanging in the pitch-black sky. The contrast between black and white, along with the gentle sand dunes, created a strong sense of silhouette, like an oil painting.

The temperature difference between day and night in the desert began to show its terror. Shu Shuishui, who had been cautious not to move, sneezed loudly.

Gu Langgu glanced over and then reached out to turn on the air conditioning.

Shu Shuishui stared at Gu Langgu’s slender hands throughout the process, his furry face concealing a fanboy expression.

With the air conditioning on, the temperature inside the car started to rise. Shu Shuishui felt the kindness emanating from the man and relaxed considerably. He even lowered his head and took a bite of the leaves that were wrapped around him. After such a long time, they were still crispy and had a pleasantly cool taste. So, he extended his paw and grabbed the vegetable roll on his body, directly nibbling on it.

Gu Langgu who had been secretly observing the little mouse the whole time. “…”

After finishing the last leaf, Shu Shuishui sat contentedly in the passenger seat, with his two little ears casually arranged at a thirty-degree angle.

Gu Langgu retracted his gaze, but an involuntary message appeared in his mind.

[Male, small male.]1I don’t know if you get it, but to those who don’t get it, it refers to Shu Shuishui’s private part XD

Shu Shuishui, unaware of it all.

Before long, Gu Langgu’s gaze once again uncontrollably shifted back, and Shu Shuishui raised his head in response, looking innocent.

They locked eyes for a moment, and just as Gu Langgu couldn’t bear it and was about to withdraw his gaze, Shu Shuishui suddenly seemed to have a sudden realization. He stood up from the passenger seat, walked to the side, and grabbed the seatbelt, forcefully inserting it into the slot with a click. The seatbelt buckle of the passenger seat latched on.

Following suit, Shu Shuishui obediently walked towards the backrest and squeezed himself between the seatbelt and the seat, transforming into a fluffy round ball into a semi-flat state.

Gu Langgu: “…”

The author has something to say:

During their previous journey on Earth as a duo of mice.

Shu Bao bought popcorn and chilled cola and called out, “A Shui, let’s watch a movie!”

Shu Shuishui obediently walked onto the small handkerchief that was folded into a mat. In front of him was a “huge” bucket of popcorn and an iPad playing a movie.

The two mice sat side by side in front of the iPad, eating popcorn and drinking cola while watching the movie. Outside the cave, heavy rain was pouring.

PS: Safety reminder from Shu Shuishui, “Remember to buckle up when getting in the car~”
