Chapter 29: Finding Nono

_

After listening to Tsunade’s words, Cain finally understood what had happened in the meeting of the Jonin.

It took Tsunade several days to prepare a report on medical system reform. Still, the Third Hokage probably thought it would cost too much and couldn’t find a good reason to justify it, so he had to delay it.

However, Tsunade believed this matter could not be delayed, perhaps because of her brother’s injury. She believed that the earlier a sound medical system was established, the more ninja comrades could be saved.

“If you think about it, the Third Hokage shouldn’t refuse this good thing. There isn’t much initial cost.”

Cain rubbed his chin in confusion. Upon hearing Cain’s words, Kato standing beside him, wanted to explain on behalf of the Third Hokage, thinking Cain didn’t understand Konoha. Still, before he could say anything, Cain continued, “Tsunade-san, could it be that you scared the Third Hokage by making too many demands all at once?”

Tsunade frowned slightly when she heard this and said in confusion, “Too many? I only proposed what is necessary for medical system reform. To put it bluntly, the old man lacks foresight.”

“Even if there is reform, it should be done step by step. If the Third Hokage gives you so much responsibility all at once, you might be the first one to die of exhaustion,”

Cain said, looking at Tsunade’s proposal and continuing, “Adding medical classes to the school curriculum and sending two medical ninjas to teach students in grades five and six. These two things don’t require additional funding or much effort. The post-war Konoha Hospital also does not lack personnel, so the Third Hokage should agree.”

“As for the research and summary of medical ninjutsu, you can take the lead in the Konoha Hospital and do it without affecting the treatment of patients. The Third Hokage has no reason to object.”

“And promoting emergency manuals, preferably targeting female ninjas. If someone doesn’t want to learn, we can do nothing. After all, they will be the ones losing their lives on the battlefield.”

“To sum up, proposals that do not involve financial support should not be a problem. As for the rest, after the first few items take effect and the medical ninja team expands, the Third Hokage will naturally not ignore your next proposal.”

The lack of recognition and resources for medical ninjas is also a problem. Although Tsunade is a well-known Jonin in Konoha, her reputation only spread after her battle with Hanzo of the Salamander and being granted the title of Sannin. The “Legendary Medical Ninja” title will only extend after she completes the medical system reform.

After hearing Cain’s words, Tsunade’s eyes lit up, and she said, “That’s good, but what if the old man still refuses?”

Cain said impatiently, “If he still refuses, it means he has a problem with you. In that case, you might as well resign and come work for me. I’ll give you 500,000 Ryo per month.”

“Is there really 500,000 Ryo?” Kato, standing beside him, saw that Tsunade was interested and quickly coughed, “Tsunade, the Hokage doesn’t have any problems with you. Konoha Hospital really needs you!”

“Kato-san, please don’t worry. I’m just joking. Even if Tsunade-san is willing to come, I won’t accept it. I’m a businessman,” Cain said. He was unsure of Kato’s attitude, but this ninja was also a powerful Jonin in Konoha. That would be bad if he went to Danzo or Hiruzen and said something against Cain.

Cain was already very cautious in Konoha, relying on a non-existent force to deceive the high-ranking officials of Konoha. The current trade was just maintaining a balanced line. With his seemingly friendly relationship with Tsunade and his consistent image as a businessman, Cain would be in danger if someone were to destroy it.

“Kato, it was just a joke.”

Tsunade could see that Cain was cautious, so she also spoke up to Kato. Still, after Cain finished speaking, she had already thought of a way to persuade Sarutobi-sensei. Then she shifted the topic to a light mood.

“Oh, Cain, we have guests. Would you like to offer some pastries? The cake that Kushina bought last time?”

“You also know Kushina?” Cain pretended to be puzzled, then continued, “100,000 Ryo each, no bargaining, and this time I brought a few high-end cakes. 400,000 Ryo, do you want them?”

Coughing, Tsunade choked twice after hearing this. “400,000 Ryo. Why don’t you just rob a bank?”

“Good things come at a price. I’m talking about the number one cake in the ninja world.” Cain shrugged and said, “Besides, as an ordinary person, why should I rob money from ninjas?”

After the discussion of the medical system reform was over, Tsunade and Cain chatted about other things. Kato could not interject. Whether it was Tsunade or Cain, he only met them today. While he might be more familiar with Tsunade, they were just fellow villagers.

Kato could only sit aside and drink tea, occasionally nodding and chuckling along. This situation continued until Kawakami came to report to Cain, and Kato was able to leave.

“Are there three orphanages in Konoha?”

After hearing this news from Kawakami, Cain nodded and then thought for a moment before continuing to ask, “Can you take me to see them, Mei-san?”

Mei Kawakami quickly replied, “Of course, boss.”

After that, they packed up, but Cain also brought a box with 450,000 Ryo. Since he had decided to donate money, he would donate to all the orphanages in Konoha. It was not bad to have one more good name in Konoha, and one 150,000 Ryo was not much for Cain, but it could provide a month’s worth of food for hundreds of war orphans.

When Cain arrived at each orphanage and explained his intentions, the directors would be very excited and call all the children to thank him. At this point, Cain casually asked about Nono Yakushi, hoping to get some information. Still, he had no luck at the first two orphanages.

However, in the third orphanage, Cain found a little girl who should be Nono Yakushi.

When Cain inquired about her with hope in his heart, the orphanage director’s response finally gave Cain some information.

“The child’s name is Nono Yakushi. She was attending ninja school because she was very smart. Still, recently she heard that the orphanage was financially tight and insisted on dropping out of school to come back and help her fellow orphans. Luckily, Mr. Cain came today, or else…”

After hearing the director’s explanation, Cain nodded and smiled at her. “It’s better to be able to go to school. If talent is wasted, it’s a pity. Let me support this child. If other children in the orphanage are suitable for school, I will also support them.”

Although there was no tuition for the ninja academy, food, drink, and equipment expenses were not small. Nono Yakushi usually practiced with the wooden shurikens she made herself, which could save some money. Still, it was not very helpful for her training.

Although the orphanage director wanted to help Nono Yakushi become a ninja, he was powerless regarding money. Now that she heard Cain’s promise, she couldn’t help but thank him profusely. “Thank you so much, Mr. Cain. I really don’t know what to say…”
