MMORPG: Crowd Control

108 Sealing Off

After wasting so much time, Lei Zhen and Griselda finally arrived at the infamous Lux Forest.

Unlike the previous time when there weren't many players nearby, the situation seemed to be different now since many players had gathered around in Lux Forest.

"Woah, are they having a night party here?" Griselda was dumbfounded. She didn't expect the usual gloomy Lux Forest to have so many players gathered around.

"This is probably the aftermath of the war in Yors Castle. With the external conflict uprising, there must be many bountiful rewards of missions in Yors Castle." Lei Zhen calmly deduced the situation.

Given that Lux Forest was a low-mid tier region, many players had already reached a high level that doesn't need to be here anymore.

However, the profits and rewards they get nowadays should be enough to entice them to gather here to farm for monsters and clear the obstacles for Yors Castle.

Since both the princes were secretly executed by the command of Francis Norton, their assets were taken away as well and could now be used as commissions for adventurers.

"This is bad then. What would happen to our mission?" Griselda held an ashen face as she wondered if her mission would fail now.

"Rest assured, I've already used my authority as the chancellor to seal off the swamp entry. Without my permission, no one else can enter and if they are caught trespassing, they shall be imprisoned for a week." Lei Zhen said.

He had long expected such an outcome ever since the internal conflict had been resolved. Hence, he commanded George, the head of the Ministry of Defense to seal off some regions or areas.

How could he possibly let others take his cake?

These players can only have the crumbs and if they are ungrateful about it, then he will take away that crumb as well.

Meanwhile, Griselda looked at Lei Zhen in a new light. "I thought you were just a bookworm, but your foresight is even more frightening."

"Just like how you can have an information channel without looking like one, I can also plan things that nobody would expect."

"Indeed, we do make a good team now. At least I don't have to be worried now about if my teammate is useless or clueless that would drag me down."

"Same for me."

Sometime later, they made their way to the entrance of the swamp and as Lei Zhen had planned out earlier, numerous imperial guards were patrolling.

There was a restriction zone sign placed to warn any players off.

Of course, some players are still courageous enough to try to challenge the imperial guards, only to be knocked unconscious and thrown to jail via a transportation carrier.

When the other players saw even some tier 2 were incapable of fighting back, the thought of trying to trespass was gone.

Not to mention, the swamp had nothing special either on its mind compared to the outer region of Lux Forest.

Thus, the players slowly gave up entering the swamp, but some were still camping near the entrance, seemingly curious as to why it was sealed off from the public.

By the time Lei Zhen arrived with Griselda, the imperial guards instantly bowed their heads.

Who wouldn't know about Lei Zhen and his signature black mask now, especially with a medallion token he received from Kate for others to identify him?

"Greetings to the chancellor," The head of the imperial guards in this region walked forward and greeted Lei Zhen.

Lei Zhen nodded his head. "It must have been hard work for you all to seal off this area."

"Of course not! It is our duty to do as we're commanded to. This is trivial work compared to the chancellor's work."

"Haha, very good. I will make sure to tell Princess Kate of your hard work." Lei Zhen chuckled softly and patted his shoulder.

Even a fool would know the head of the imperial guard was bootlicking him and currying his favor.

Although it was cringe and cliche, Lei Zhen still praised him slightly to motivate him further to guard the swamp against strangers.

After all, a trivial work could benefit him to receive favor from the trending Princess Kate. Everyone would be willing to do it even if they are assigned to clean toilets to gain her notice.

Just when Lei Zhen and Griselda were about to head into the swamp, a person appeared out of nowhere, alerting them.

"Who dares!" Instantly, the head of the imperial guard flashed a vicious glint and was about to kill the intruder.

If Lei Zhen were to be harmed in any way under his watch, then the consequences would be unimaginable.

However, before the head of the imperial guard could make a move, the person suddenly knelt and lowered his forehead to the soil.

"Please bring me along!"

"..."

Silent suddenly emerged in the atmosphere as even the imperial guards did not know if this person had lost his mind or what.

Lei Zhen was equally confused as well since he didn't know who this random person was. In fact, he was about to have someone detain him for coming out of nowhere.

Meanwhile, Griselda made a gasp and held a horrified look.

"What the hell? Aren't you Tie Swordsman? Shouldn't you be in some other country?" Griselda shouted in disbelief.

"You know him?" Lei Zhen turned toward her and asked.

"Yes, he's a famous ranker. However, he shouldn't be here since he was last spotted in a country that was at least 100 kilometers away from here."

"100 kilometers? That's a lot of distance…"

"I'm glad you recognized me, Griselda." The person interrupted when the two of them were discussing.

He then stood up slowly, afraid of the imperial guard attacking him as he raised both his hands up, indicating he meant no harm.

"My in-game name is Tie Swordsman but you can call me Tie Longkun. I've managed to come here after traveling for 10 days and 10 nights without rest. Please allow me to go with you so that my journey wouldn't be for naught."
