MMORPG: Crowd Control

128 Recommendation

After fixing his clothes, Lei Zhen left his office to make his way toward Princess Kate's office.

Along the way, one of the two elite guards followed quietly behind him.

Of course, Lei Zhen didn't need his protection given he could revive, but it was rejected fiercely by Kate, proclaiming that his safety is a priority as well.

Since it was her goodwill, Lei Zhen could only reluctantly agree to this arrangement.

Meanwhile, Griselda was already waiting outside Kate's office by the time he arrived.

"Took you long enough to come," Griselda said, seemingly wondering what caused him such a delay.

His office and Kate's office weren't that far away from each other.

In fact, it would only take around a few minutes to walk. Thus, she didn't understand how she was still faster than him.

Lei Zhen shrugged his shoulders.

"Unlike you who had nothing to do, I'm quite busy with my work as a chancellor." He said, firing a shot at her.

Griselda could only click her tongue and cross her arms, unwilling to argue with him in the Royal Palace. She had a reputation to uphold after all, unlike him, who had already gained the heart and soul of the citizens.

Despite the teasing, it was meant to be for fun between friends.

"Why aren't we heading in yet?" She asked.

"Waiting for someone."

"Who?"

"You'll know in a second." Lei Zhen calmly replied, keeping it a surprise.

Alas, Griselda wasn't ignorant enough as she walked closer and said, "It's probably the person that sent you this intel, right?"

"..."

'What a blunder that was.' He thought to himself, forgetting the fact that he had shared the document with her already.

With her intelligence, it wouldn't be hard to piece these two together to figure out who he was waiting for.

"Why couldn't you be more like Tie Longkun?" Lei Zhen twitched his mouth.

Coincidentally, Tie Longkun who was working in the convenience store on behalf of Lei Zhen suddenly sneezed for no reason.

'Who is bad talking about me?' Tie Longkun glanced left and right, seemingly trying to look for the culprit, only to no avail.

As Tie Longkun tried to be a detective to find the culprit, Lei Zhen and Griselda finally saw Gerald coming from afar.

Unlike his usual self that was clad in armor, he was dressed up in a suit, almost as if he was a gentleman in some kind of ballroom dancing party.

"Don't even ask me," Lei Zhen quickly responded when he saw the weird look that Griselda was giving him.

Hearing that quick response, Griselda could only shrug her shoulders, suppressing the urge to laugh at Gerald.

Meanwhile, Gerald quickly paid his respect to Lei Zhen when he arrived.

"Is this appropriate to meet with Princess Kate, Chancellor? This is the best outfit I could find and my wife said it was great." Gerald asked, seemingly looking for approval.

"Your wife has great taste in the outfit." Lei Zhen said, complimenting his wife and outfit at the same time.

A white lie doesn't hurt and it really wasn't that bad looking.

Hence, he didn't find the need to say it was horrendously bad for the occasion since it was supposed to be a casual meeting and not a formal one.

Not to mention, Lei Zhen kind of blamed himself for it because he told Gerald to dress up nicely.

Sometime later, the three of them entered Princess Kate's office, only to see herself swamped with piles and piles of documents on her desk.

"If you have more documents, then place them on the couch to the left," Kate said, not even paying attention to who had arrived.

Meanwhile, the three of them turned toward the left and saw a monstrous pile of documents that filled the left couch completely.

The amount of workload there impressed Lei Zhen thoroughly as he clapped his hand.

"You have really grown to be a great woman, Princess Kate." Lei Zhen praised her sincerely.

Never would he expect the day to come so fast for the impulsive and rash action of Princess Kate to become so mature.

"It's you, Lei-"

"Shush, we got company." Lei Zhen hurriedly cut her off when Kate was about to call out his name.

Being cut off, Kate realized that someone else came in with him so she brushed aside some documents, only to be astonished at the sight of Gerald.

"What the hell?" She muttered in disbelief. She had to rub her eyes twice to make sure that Gerald was in fact wearing a suit.

'Did I miss an event or something?' She questioned herself silently.

Meanwhile, Lei Zhen made a small hand signal, telling her that it was all fine, clearly understanding what she was thinking at the moment.

Regaining her composure, Kate turned toward Gerald and asked, "Why are you here supposedly?"

"Umm, I-" Gerald looked extremely nervously as he went on one knee, not knowing what else to say.

Seeing his frazzled behavior, Lei Zhen sighed softly and kindly introduced Gerald and the reason for his visit.

"Well, I was impressed by Gerald's work ethic and efficiency. Hence I brought him here today as an introduction and to get Gerald ready himself for the big work." Lei Zhen calmly said.

His words might be subtle and indirect, but it was clear that Lei Zhen was recommending Gerald as a great soldier to her.

Thus, Kate instantly understood the gist and nodded her head.

"I see…" She said, glancing at the nervous Gerlad. "Since the Chancellor had spoken and vouched for you, then I suppose you should be ready for what's coming in the future."

"This Gerald here would definitely not disappoint Princess Kate."

"Good, I've kept your name in mind, so be ready to receive official documentation in the next few days."

And with that said, Gerald gracefully accepted the words of Princess Kate and left the office.

Just a simple meeting with a few words was enough to satisfy him.

After all, not many people were able to get this kind of opportunity to see Princess Kate.

"Next time, I think I should just send a recommendation document instead of this." Lei Zhen mumbled softly, thinking that he might have harmed Gerald instead with his demeanor and outfit style.
