MMORPG: Crowd Control

130 Assassination

Griselda was stunned for a moment before recalling that Tie Longkun's respawn was finished.

"Right, I almost forgot about him." She said, clearly not feeling a single guilt about betraying him before.

"Yes, he's forgettable, but don't tell him that directly. Just treat him like a little kid."

"A little kid?"

"Mhmm, Tie Longkun is the most naive and innocent person I have met. Though that's probably not a bad thing, to be honest." Lei Zhen said, his tone sounding a bit desolate.

Griselda remained silent when she heard that kind of tone.

"Anyway, let's head over to the central district. He's probably already waiting there for us." Lei Zhen stretched his arms and changed the topic.

"Are you going to keep having him follow us then?" Griselda asked, pointing at the elite guard that was following behind him quietly.

"He's Howard and someone that Kate assigned as a bodyguard to me." He casually introduced him.

Meanwhile, Howard gave a slight nod to Griselda. It was his way of acknowledging or greeting her.

'Great, another copy of Lei Zhen but a mute one this time.' Griselda thought.

Sometime later, the three of them went to the central district and Lei Zhen instantly attracted a lot of attention from the citizens of Yors Castle.

Other players in the area were also surprised by his appearance, who was walking alongside the well-known Griselda.

"..."

Lei Zhen, who was swamped by the frantic citizens, asking him for autographs made him speechless.

When did he become so popular?

Not even Griselda was able to receive such treatment aside from some admiring gaze of the players nearby.

Unwilling to disappoint his fans, Lei Zhen could only reluctantly ask Griselda if she could go ahead to meet with Tie Longkun.

"Tsk, these citizens really don't know who's the real beauty and charm here." Griselda clicked her tongue, clearly displeased at her popularity being overshadowed by Lei Zhen.

Alas, there was nothing she could complain about since Lei Zhen was labeled a hero and savior of Yors Castle.

With Lei Zhen being occupied, Griselda could only go ahead and explain the situation to Tie Longkun.

"Chancellor, my daughter really admires you. Please give her an autograph."

"Chancellor, my daughter is noble and well-mannered. Give her a chance."

"Chancellor, I have a son that is valiant and is enrolled on the imperial guard."

Countless praise and comments came from multiple citizens.

The most shocking part was that some people even tried to sell their daughter like it was a marketing item.

'Am I some horny bastard?' Lei Zhen twitched his mouth.

Why is he being offered their daughter when they haven't even seen his real face yet?

Despite getting offered in such a ridiculous way, Lei Zhen kept his cool and calmly defused their thought of trying to do so.

"Thank you everyone for your enthusiasm, but I have somewhere else to go." Lei Zhen said once he signed enough autographs.

And although some were disappointed by his words, they also understood that Lei Zhen must be busy as the chancellor of their country. Thus, they nodded their heads and made a path for Lei Zhen to safely leave.

Meanwhile, Howard remained vigilant the whole time when Lei Zhen was being swarmed by the citizens.

"You can relax a bit, Howard.' Lei Zhen calmly said once they left the crowd.

"Even if someone tried to use that as an opportunity to assassinate me, I'm not weak enough to be defenseless." He added.

Of course, it was nice to interact with the citizens, but that doesn't mean he would let his guard down and allow some nefarious people to get an opportunity.

He was completely ready to deflect an attack at all times.

"It's my duty to remain vigilant and protect you, Chancellor," Howard said in a stiff tone. He was extremely dedicated to his task and dared not relax even for a moment.

Lei Zhen could only shake his head helplessly.

For a man like Howard who was dedicated to his work, speaking anymore would be just a waste of breath.

Sometime later, he arrived at a restaurant where Griselda and Tie Longkung were chatting happily.

"Did he accept the invite?" Lei Zhen chuckled softly as he took a seat next to Griselda.

Griselda smirked and placed her hand on her chin, "What do you think?"

"Seeing your smirking face, I guessed we should celebrate our newest member." Lei Zhen said and turned toward Tie Longkun, who was busy feeding his mouth with food.

Magnolia was one realistic and immersive game that eating in here actually gives you the real feeling of eating in real life. Also, it would fill your satiety, proving how advanced technologies had become.

Seeing Tie Longkun devouring the food on the plate like it was nothing, Lei Zhen laughed inwardly.

At the same time, he opened his guild channel and saw Tie Longkun's member rank whereas Griselda was the Vice Leader.

As for his name, it was kept hidden from the guild members list.

People could call him unnecessary for keeping his information private, but in this current world, privacy was an important luxury one could ever ask for.

Let's say for example, what happens if someone doesn't like a player in Magnolia and figures out his identity?

And if it just so happened that the identity of that person wasn't someone famous or rich, then wouldn't it be possible to have him dead in the real world, effectively ending the person's career and journey in Magnolia?

There have been cases that happened like this, which was why Lei Zhen was so adamant about keeping his identity a secret.

Who said you can't commit murder in the real world?

As long as you have the money and the right people, then it's easy to get away with murder.

If one was to really irritate a rich person in Magnolia and they managed to find out your identity, then it would spell doom for that person.

'I guessed it's time to put away my facade and begin the next phase.' Lei Zhen thought to himself, feeling that it was the right time now.
