MMORPG: Crowd Control

After hearing the introduction of Thalia Frost and her occupation, Lei Zhen's tone became polite as he enquired how to be registered as an adventurer.

"Hehe, based on how foreign and confused you look when you entered, I could pretty much guess the reason for your visit." Thalia laughed and teased for a moment.

"Anyway, to become an adventurer, you have two options to choose from. The first option is the most common one and that is you must kill a designated monster from the bounty hunter list on the guild board." Thalia kindly explained.

And she continued, "The second option is rather uncommon and more time-consuming because you'll have to go through a trial phase with an examiner. Depending on the examiner, you could either have an easy time or a nightmare worse than the bounty hunting option."

Lei Zhen rubbed his chin softly, seemingly pondering over the two options available for him to choose from.

Normally, he would straight up choose the first option since it's straightforward, but with his experience with a Goblin Mob before, there was still a bit of trauma left in his mind.

Who could still be sane after getting chased by a horde of monsters?

'Although it's scary, I would be a fool to choose the more annoying and troublesome option… Who knows if the examiner would be another eccentric person like Robert Knightman.' With that in mind, Lei Zhen had decided on the first option.

However, he still needed to enquire some information regarding the bounty hunting.

"Miss Thalia, does the bounty hunting option require solo action, or could we party up with others to accomplish it?" He asked calmly.

Thalia Frost paused for a moment before flashing a gentle smile.

"Well, that depends on you. If you can find someone to join you, then it just means you are capable of bringing people to your party. As long as you bring the required monster to the guild, then it is mission complete." She said and blinked one of her eyes, subtly hinting at something.

"..."

Thalia could visibly see Lei Zhen twitching his lips, clearly understanding her subtle hinting.

She was encouraging him to simply cheat and buy the required monster to hand it to the guild as a mission complete. Although it was unethical, it wasn't against the rule and no one would care as long as they received what they wanted.

Lei Zhen was rendered speechless and before things become more awkward, Thalia kindly pointed at the guild board for him to choose a monster to hunt.

Given the leeway, Lei Zhen naturally cupped his fist and hurriedly made his way to the guild board.

The guild board was a large rectangular shape with oak wood as the material.

The size wasn't too big considering how it was meant for the new or rookie adventurer, completely unlike the one near the main lobby which was filled with people.

Just when Lei Zhen was brooding over which monster was suitable for him to hunt, a system prompt appeared.

[Player Beautiful Heiress had sent a friend request to you!]

[Accept: Y/N]

'Qiaolian really wasn't joking about her in-game name…' Lei Zhen silently thought, his finger reaching for the 'yes' button and accepting her friend request.

After accepting the friend request, he was quickly bombarded with numerous questions from Tang Qiaolian.

"Lei Zhen, where are you located?"

"Have you leveled up yet and registered as an adventurer?"

"Have you unlocked the guild function yet?"

The messages kept on popping up in front of him, prompting him to have a headache.

How was he supposed to answer all of her questions in one go?

"W-Wait a minute, Qiaolian… I can't possibly answer everything right away when you keep coming up with new questions?" Lei Zhen hurriedly used the voice chat command to directly talk with her.

There was no way he could go against her in a keyboard warrior fight when she was used to inputting numerous patients' data into the computer.

Subsequently, Lei Zhen would prefer to enable the voice command to communicate with her. Otherwise, there would be a long list of paragraphs for him to scroll through.

"Anyway, I was just looking through the list of monsters to hunt to be registered as an adventurer. Also, I'm still level 1 so I'm completely clueless regarding the guild function or any functions, to say the least." He calmly replied to her.

"Pfft, just how ignorant can you be, Lei Zhen." Tang Qiaolian started giggling but didn't go overboard.

Given how she knew Lei Zhen wasn't a gamer, she could subtly understand his dilemma. Thus, she was willing to explain some information to him while enquiring about his current whereabouts.

"Ah, so you are still in the newbie town huh? Don't worry, I'll meet you there in about 5 minutes." Tang Qiaolian said cheerfully.

Meanwhile, Lei Zhen raised an eyebrow in confusion. As he recalled from Shan Lin's words, only low-level or new players like him could be in the newbie town.

Bewildered, he asked her, "How are you eligible to enter the newbie town?"

"Right… you are intelligent in all aspects but when it comes to gaming, you are a complete novice." Tang Qiaolian teased.

"The newbie town is indeed inaccessible for the general, but there are some other methods to enter. And one of them happens to be related to a Hidden Quest."

"I see, no wonder why you're able to enter the newbie town." Lei Zhen seemed to be enlightened and wasn't a bit suspicious of her claim.

After all, his experience with Robert Knightman was unbelievable enough, so he could summarize that anything could happen in Magnolia.

10 minutes later, Lei Zhen waited patiently near a crowded area with a large water fountain in the center. This was the designated location where he would meet Tang Qiaolian.

And to his surprise, a large commotion was quickly gathered around the area, prompting Lei Zhen to search for the source.

"It's real… it really is the Beautiful Heiress!"

"Oh my god… I'm going to stream this right now. I'll definitely get over 100 thousand views with this alone."

"Wait a minute, isn't this the newbie town? I had to re-create an account because I lost a bet and had to start from scratch. Yet the Beautiful Heiress was able to enter here? Could she have reset her level?"

The crowd was both bewildered and shocked by the sudden appearance of Tang Qiaolian arriving.

At the same time, Lei Zhen was equally speechless. 'She does know how to make a scene.'
