Chapter 126: Heartfelt Talk - Part 1

Aside from the ruckus from Uncle Wen and Auntie Jun after they saw the bill, the dinner ended with a smile on everyone's faces. Even the two girls were smiling in their sleep.

It was Sunday night, so they had to drive Yu Mei to her apartment as she had to work tomorrow. After bidding their farewell with Sister Mei Mei, they headed home. Mainly, it was because Eunha and Lin Lin were sleeping. If they were awake, Sister Mei Mei wanted to get them to play more.

As they drove through the road, Ming, Shuren, and Dale slept as well. It seemed they ate too much, so they were sleeping not even five minutes after driving Sister Mei Mei back to her apartment. Only Shen, Auntie Jun, and Uncle Wen were awake in the car.

"Shen." After a momentary silence, Uncle Wen spoke. Shen looked toward Uncle Wen. "Yes, Uncle?"

There was a brief silence followed before Uncle Wen continued. "I know that you have a lot of money, but I don't think you should waste that on something like this. You don't have to invite us to a place like that again. It's not worth spending that much for dinner. If you want seafood, you can tell your Auntie Jun. You can buy the ingredients if you want to, and Auntie Jun will cook. You should know your Auntie's cooking is divine." Uncle Wen ended his words with a joke as he smiled at Shen.

Of course, Shen knew Uncle Wen meant well for him. He was not annoyed, but he would still spend the money whether it was worth it or not. He still got what he aimed for, anyway. It was to make Eunha happy.

"To be honest, I am doing this for Eunha, Uncle," Shen replied as he leaned his back. "You should know about Eunha's condition before you adopt her, Uncle. She was stuck in a rehabilitation center for almost two years. When she was returned to her home with her parents, she spent most of her time with her caretaker. I figured that sometimes I should take her out to play, and coincidentally, I got my payment from the Game, so I might as well treat her to a good place. And I think It's worth it by looking at how happy she is, and she is even smiling in her sleep." Shen smiled by himself as he looked at the mirror. Lin Lin and Eunha were resting their heads on Auntie Jun's lap.

Uncle Wen and Auntie Jun were stunned when they heard Shen's answer. They did not expect to hear that from Shen at all. Especially, they were now Eunha's parents, and it was their duty to think for her well-being. However, looking at Eunha every day in their shop and kitchen, they regarded her as a normal child in their eyes and overlooked her past.

"Of course, we will not go to that kind of place every day, and we can't go that often as I am afraid it might not be good for her too. However, once in a while, I want to bring her to a new place. Maybe we can visit the zoo too later. Eunha was so happy when she saw the fish. Didn't you notice too, Auntie? She was so delighted when she saw the lustrous street lights with the crowd." Shen turned his head and smiled as he looked at Eunha's sleeping face.

"Sometimes, I compare myself with Eunha since our situations are kinda similar, but she's more pitiful than me actually…." Shen paused and shook his head. "She is also the one who helped me to pass my darkest time. Her smile did not fade even though she was stuck in that place, and her strong side is the main reason I am still here. I mean, if she can overcome the sickness she was born with, I, as someone older than her, should be able to go through my issue as well. That's what I said to myself every time she visited my room back then."

Auntie Jun and Uncle Wen listened to Shen's heartfelt words without interrupting him.

"One day, she said she would come out of the rehabilitation center with a strong heart, and she would tour around the world. I want to realize that for her." Shen closed his eyes as he remembered the little girl borrowed a globe from the nurse and dragged the globe with her. She mentioned which countries she wanted to visit one by one. She did not lose to her illness and kept her spirit despite what she had gone through. "She was so marvelous, and she is my hero."

"Of course, I am not going to bring her to tour around the world right now. I think we can start with something smaller like touring around the city." Shen opened her eyes and smiled. "Maybe I should try to get my driver's license first."

Uncle Wen was stupefied to hear that from someone younger than him, but then he smiled. "Maybe you are a better father than me, Shen. I did not think through and somehow neglected Eunha in a way. Talking about her, she never asked anything from us either."

"Hehe, if I meet the qualifications to adopt her. I will adopt her for sure, Uncle." Shen replied playfully as if he was joking. However, he was not joking, that thought crossed his mind, but he buried that thought when he found out the qualification for adoption. "And maybe, she never asked you anything because she has what she needed the most, a family. You two are the best gift she had, I think."

"And you too, Shen." Auntie Jun interjected. "I think you are her best gift."

"Also, let's plan it out, the outing. We should do a regular outing with Eunha every weekend." Auntie Jun added. "But we don't have to go to a place like Aquas. What matters are not the place but the outing itself."

Shen turned toward Auntie Jun as his eyes shone. "Let's do that. I will try to search for some good places for an outing, and let's plan it out."
