Only I Am A Reader

437 Special Swordsman

"What a coincidence, I also have one!"

The man wearing dark yellow clothes reached out to his back, drawing a medieval-style sword with a smile on his face.

'I also got quite the coincidence.'

This crucial event should have been enough to pinpoint the identity of the true protagonist of this plotline. However, Leo only got more and more confused as things went by.

'Maybe… A story with more than one central main character?'

"Yes, bring it on!"

Fire erupted around the crazy-looking woman who attacked Yulia, melting the ice that was about to reach her.

Just like Yulia looked like she was clad in snow, a coat of fire also enveloped Rose, preventing Yulia from instantly freezing her and ending the battle within seconds.

However, Leo no longer paid any attention to Yulia's side, he had his own battle to deal with!

Klang!

'Heavy.'

The medieval sword looked like nothing special, but the force transmitted through it was too heavy for a sword of this weight and shape.

Leo's opponent either possessed more physical strength than his slim body implied or had some kind of ability to add weight to his weapons!

'It's nothing special though.'

Klang! Klang! Klang!

Not to mention using Internal Energy for support, just the physical strength that he had recently come to possess was enough for Leo to handle the weight of his opponent's weapon. Most importantly…

'Did he pick up the sword recently?'

The man's attacks barely had any skills to them. Let alone Leo had further honed his Swordsmanship for over a decade in Murim…

Even just Arthur's Swordsmanship was enough to flatten his opponent when it came to skill alone!

'This is not right.'

Judging from what he had seen so far, Leo could easily end this battle in a few more moves without having to use either Sword Breath or Internal Energy, but his sharpened instincts rang like sirens.

For someone of such a low level to join a team that almost dealt with the Council's Specialists all on their own? Leo naturally had to stay on guard!

'Let's start with a slice then.'

Twisting his sword mid-battle, Leo ignored the unqualified sword attack and went for the arm that held that sword. However…

Klang!

The point the sword hit felt like some sort of hard metal!

Although the White Tiger couldn't exhibit the sharpness of Metal Qi without being imbued with Internal Energy, it was still sharper than any sword that could be made on Earth. For it to be deflected only meant one thing.

'Is he a mutant like me?'

The enemy definitely had an ability related to changing his body. The feeling transmitted through the sword wasn't that of armor or some sort of protective layer. It was part of his arm itself.

Only Leo could tell things in such detail, but that was what led him to consider the enemy possessing something like his Sword Body.

He could either change the property of his body parts or turn his skin into some sort of protective film!

'It's likely a property change considering the increased weight…'

"An actual traditional Swordsman, huh? Haven't seen one of these in a while. I was sure for a second there that you were someone like me."

The grin on the man's face only grew wider under the threat of his arm getting cut off. He was brimming with confidence as he was sure he had guessed the newcomer's Role.

"Hey, Darion. Are we sure we need to check this one out? He is just a Basic."

"Craig! What did I tell you about going off mission protocol? Just do as you were told."

Getting almost punched in the face by Damon, the enemy team's Leader didn't have the attention to spare for his lazy teammate.

"Okay, okay, no need to get angry. This is what he says, so let me show you."

Getting the request to just kill his opponent shut down, Craig decided to finish this quickly as he increased his arm's weight to push Leo back.

"The reason I use a sword is…"

Pretending to strike, Craig suddenly let go of the sword as it shot toward Leo at maximum speed.

Leo could easily strike it back or even slice the sword in two, but he chose to do nothing other than reveal his precise agility.

He needed to know what his opponent was capable of, so he could plan his next move!

Although Leo easily evaded the flying sword, he freed his mask, letting it take the hit instead, and the result was…

"This!"

The mask slowly started changing color before completely turning into stone! Whatever his ability was, this Craig was capable of petrifying his opponent through his weapons.

"Eh, you dodged? Don't worry, I won't turn you completely into a rock that you can't be saved. So, just get petrified quickly and be done with it."

Believing that he almost incapacitated his opponent, Craig had a bored expression as he took a small baton hidden in his clothes.

'This is why the versatility of Roleplayers is annoying.'

The concept of a Role was a fascinating thing to think of, but directly having a Roleplayer as an opponent wasn't as fun.

Compared to the straightforward battles in Murim where Leo only had to consider the physical stats, Internal Energy levels of his opponent, and maybe even the attribute of their Techniques in extreme situations, this was…

'Too slow!'

Leo had many reasons to hold back his ability and show only as much as he needed, but even then, he could have finished this within a few moves.

The only reason he had to drag it on this long was to find out what his opponent with an unknown role could do. Otherwise, things could take an unfortunate turn regardless of how strong Leo was.

However, now that the identification stage was finally done with...

'I thought a skilled swordsman with a good sword would do, but I have to crank it up a little bit.'

It was time to seriously deal with this annoying medusa.
