Rebirth to the Eighties to Get Rich

Chapter 153: Checking Out Shops in the College Town

What Ji Jianyun said was really a problem.

Sister He’s character could be trusted.

In any case, it would be up to Ji Jianyun to decide how much to sell and how much to charge.

But the main problem was Sister He’s family.

Her three children were still young, and her husband had work. Her family had to be taken care of, and that was solely on sister He.

“Since we want to set up a shop over there, we should just make it bigger. Sister He won’t work alone. Let’s make it easier by asking her husband to work for us,” she said.

Ji Jianyun also thought it was reasonable. When the business became bigger, it would not be safe for sister He to manage it alone as a woman.

“Can you find the time to ask if sister He is willing? Also, asked if her husband is willing to quit his job in the county. The job will be paid 30 yuan a month. If he works with sister He, it’ll be 60 yuan a month. We can subsidize them with another 10 yuan for food. If they are going to live there, then I will find a spacious shop for it.”

Ji Jianyun was generous. Since he wants to recruit them, he should be a little more generous.

“Then I’ll talk to sister He,” Su Danhong smiled.

Ji Jianyun nodded. “We should be clear about it. When you talk to Sister He, tell her that it is reasonable.”

“I know,” Su Danhong stated.

As the husband and wife talked about things, they were almost done watering the fruit trees. She didn’t want to come here every day, so she watered a lot of spiritual spring water. The water was not as good as the one on the mountain, but it was enough for the saplings to live on.

In the future, she will just come here every few days.

Su Danhong had a realization and asked, “Why did you plant so many cherries?”

“Cherries sell well, and you like them,” Ji Jianyun said.

Su Danhong smiled at him with joy. Ji Jianyun also looked at his wife  and smiled. They looked at each other for a while, then walked back holding hands.

When they saw the workers, they let go.

Seeing that the work was almost done, Ji Jianyun announced that he was leaving and they were to continue tomorrow morning.

The next day, Su Danhong handed Renren over to Mother Ji. Then, she pushed Qiqi to the town to look for sister He.

This year, Sister He did not go to work in the department store. Su Danhong guessed that her job was gone.

She had asked others about it, and they told her things because she was very familiar with sister He.

Su Danhong went over with Qiqi, and she had a few jin of strawberries hanging on the stroller.

After talking to the neighbors, Su Danhong knocked on the door. “Sister He, are you at home?”

“I’m coming,” Sister He’s loud voice answered, and soon came to open the door.

Seeing that it was Su Danhong, sister He was very happy. “Danhong? Why did you come here? Did you still know the way?”

“I asked for directions,” Su Danhong said with a smile.

“Is this Qiqi?” Sister He looked at Qiqi in the stroller. She commented with a smile, “He is really fair,  just like the children in the city.”

Having said that, she welcomed the mother and son in.

“These strawberries are for my nieces and nephews.” Su Danhong handed over the strawberries.

“No, no, those three don’t need that. Take it back for Renren to eat,” Sister He said at once.

“We grew them, so Renren has his share to eat,” Su Danhong said with a smile, “And I’ve come all the way to bring it here, so why do you want me to take it back?”

Sister He laughed and said, “If you’re here, then you’re here. Why are we being so polite?”

“You also made some clothes for Renren and Qiqi,” Su Danhong said.

After that, Su Danhong asked about sister He’s family and why she wasn’t going to work.

There was nothing to hide. Sister He said, “The department store hasn’t been doing well. They are three months behind with paying my salary. How can I go there to work for nothing?”

Not only here, but also at her husband’s factory. It was no longer a good job. In the past, it could be said that it is an iron rice bowl1 and a job that everyone envied.

But with the trend recently, she didn’t think it would last long.

This was not a secret, but they haven’t said it. While outsiders didn’t know, it wouldn’t be long before the matters about the iron rice bowl job would probably spread.

“What are you going to do? Your children are still in school now, and they can’t drop out of school,” Su Danhong wondered.

“I can only take it one step at a time,” Sister He could only say. “I was going to open a tailor’s shop in the town myself, but my husband said no. If I don’t have a shop, I can stay at home and do it. Anyways, who would pay for it?”

“If you make a good profit after you open a tailor’s shop, you can only earn ten yuan a month at most,” Su Danhong said, “After deducting the rent, there is not much left.”

“I don’t need to pay rent. My family has a shop. It is not big, but it is a tailor’s shop. It’s doable, but I have no plans to do it since the shop is being rented out right now,” Sister He clarified.

The monthly rent for the shop was only three yuan, and money was still money. The family didn’t have a steady income anyways.

“Are you interested in working for me?” Su Danhong asked.

Sister He was surprised. “What do you mean?”

“Jianyun, my husband, is planning to set up a shop in the college town to sell eggs, chickens and fruits during the peak season. We are just missing a manager. Sister He, if you are interested, you can give it a try and get a salary of 30 yuan a month,” Su Danhong said.

Sister He was still shocked and repeated, “30 yuan a month?”

“Yes, the work might be a little tiring, Jianyun’s reputation over there is really good. All the aunties and uncles over there are familiar with Jianyun’s business,” said Su Danhong.

“That happened? 30 yuan a month is really high. Can you afford the salary? Danhong, is what you said really true?” Sister He tried to verify.

She was open with Danhong, because her family really needed this job now. Her husband was going to be fired soon. When that happens, wouldn’t their family go hungry? She still had to support her parents-in-law. Although she didn’t live with them, she had to take some food over every month, and that required money.

“Of course it is true, but you have your children to take care of, right?” Su Danhong didn’t say everything yet.

“It’s fine. I will ask my mother-in-law to come and cook for them. They can take care of the rest by themselves. They are not small anymore,” Sister He said swiftly.

It was 30 yuan a month. When she used to work in the department store, it was only 17 yuan a month, which was pretty decent. But, Danhong had just invited her to look after a shop in the college town, and it paid 30 yuan a month. She was definitely willing to do it without even thinking.

As for children, there won’t be a problem. Her eldest son was 15 years old this year, the second was 13 years old this year, and the youngest girl was 10 years old this year. All of them have grown up.
