Chapter 74 – Embarrassment Landing on Ji Yunyun

Ji Yunyun went home. No matter how she thought about it, she was still very angry.

“Your father’s food will be delivered to him by your third brother later,” Mother Ji said.

As soon as this was said, Su Danhong pushed the door open and came in. She was carrying almost two jin of pork.

Su Danhong glanced at Ji Yunyun and then looked at Mother Ji. She said, “Mother, Jianyun bought meat this morning. I had it in the fridge. I remembered that mother didn’t buy meat yet, so I brought it over for you. Don’t try to save it and just eat it. You don’t have to worry about father.”

Mother Ji was also a little ashamed, and quickly said, “Danhong, take it back. Mother doesn’t need it and you do not have to worry about this girl.”

It’s impossible to say that Danhong didn’t hear what her daughter had just said. The embarrassment was coming on a little fast.

Ji Yunyun choked on herself and blurted, “Who would have known that she was eavesdropping on me outside the door like a ghost!”

“She came over with meat to eavesdrop on you?” Mother Ji snapped. “Go eat and apologize to your third sister-in-law after you finish. Otherwise, your chopsticks will never touch another piece of food from your third sister-in-law in the future. These vegetables were also harvested by your third sister-in-law.”

Ji Yunyun was so angry that she slammed the chopsticks on the table. “I won’t eat, okay?! This family no longer cares about me. Su Danhong has everything good, while we have nothing good, okay?!” With that, she ran back to her room.

Mother Ji only felt her head throbbing.

Spoiled, really spoiled! I thought she was a good daughter, but I didn’t expect her to be so spoiled in the end! 

Although Mother Ji was angry, she still left her some food and continued to ignore her. If you want to eat, then you will come out to eat; if you don’t want to eat, then you will go hungry. 

When Mother Ji finished eating, she started pickling some cabbage. After a jar was filled, she brought it over to Su Danhong’s place.

“Mother, you’re here. Have you eaten yet?”

Ji Jianyun and Su Danhong were already having a meal. They quickly greeted her when they saw her come in.

“I ate before I came. I pickled some cabbage for you,” Mother Ji said with a smile.

“Thank you, mother,” Su Danhong smiled back. She helped her move to the table to sit. Then, she scooped a bowl of bone soup for her and said, “Mother, have a bowl of soup to warm yourself up.”

“Okay.” Mother Ji then hesitated and said, “Danhong, that girl, Yunyun…”

“Mother, what are you talking about? She is just an emotionally swayed person, and she still has no experience in life. When she does, she will grow up,” Su Danhong said. She didn’t take the matter about Yunyun seriously.

Mother Ji was relieved.

“What happened?” Ji Jianyun asked.

“Nothing.” Su Danhong shook her head.

“Did your father eat? Mother will take a bowl of soup to him after I finish this,” Mother Ji said.

“Father’s meal was sent to him before we ate, so mother take your time,” Su Danhong replied.

How could they deliver Father Ji’s meal to him after they ate? That was impossible to do. She asked Ji Jianyun to send it to him before they ate.

She also asked Ji Jianyun to buy a big food box1 for Father Ji in town. There was a large bowl of rice that was almost equivalent to three regular  bowls of rice, a bowl of soup, fish and meat, and a small plate of vegetables.

Father Ji ate what the couple ate.

As for Mother Ji, she would sometimes go over to eat. However, now that Ji Yunyun came back, Su Danhong did not speak up to invite her over.

She didn’t want her stuff to be eaten until there was none. She didn’t want to make herself upset. Thus, it was impossible to speak up, especially after today, when she forgot to deliver the meat. She remembered the meat when she was cooking in the evening and rushed to send it over while Renren was still sleeping.

Without saying it out loud, she made a record of what Ji Yunyun said in her mind.

As soon as Mother Ji heard that the food was delivered, she remarked with a smile, “With the way the old man and you two eat, you probably don’t want to eat my cooking.”

Father Ji now ate what was from here. He ate three meals a day, and was full after every meal. Each meal had fish, meat and soup. Although he lives on the mountain, he didn’t have to do any kind of work. If there was work to do, then that’s what Ji Hongjun and Xu Aidang were for. So when Father Ji started spending his days with Lao San’s family, he started looking better than before.

Father Ji also did not criticize them for eating so well. When he did not eat with them, the couple maintained that kind of lifestyle and whatever was not eaten would be given to the dogs.
