TL: Moonlit

Finally!!!! I finally updated this agaaaaain!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHHA XD

Until the end, Lin Hanchuan never asked who the author of this painting was.

He bought medicine for Qi Yuyu and watched him take it until the troubled patient fell into a deep sleep. Then Lin Hanchuan left.

It was late at night when he left, and when he returned to Qi Fenghua’s and Yi Qinglou’s house, Qi Fenghua still hadn’t come home.

The room was empty, with snow-white walls without a speck of dust, and the floor was so clean that one could see their reflection. Anyone who entered this house could tell that the owner took great care of it.

During the early stages of their marriage, Yi Qinglou never wanted to live with Qi Fenghua.

The relationship between Yi Qinglou and the Yi family was very distant. After Yi Wusheng’s death, Yi Qinglou moved back home and tried to console the grieving parents, but he realized that everything was just his wishful thinking.

The Yi parents were indeed filled with sorrow. They shut themselves in, living in a daze, becoming increasingly strange and irritable. They drove away the nanny who had been with them for over ten years and several hourly workers in succession. In the end, they couldn’t find anyone to do the housework, so Yi Qinglou had to roll up his sleeves and do it himself.

Until one day, Yi Qinglou could no longer bear the unpredictable moods of Father Yi and Mother Yi. In the midst of their argument, he heard the desperate voice of Mother Yi.

“I wish it were you who died!”

Before this, Yi Qinglou had always been aware that Yi Wusheng was the one more favored in the Yi family, but it wasn’t until this moment that he realized it wasn’t Yi Wusheng who was loved, but rather he himself who was simply superfluous1suggests that an item, person, or element is not essential or needed..

A few months later, Father Yi arranged his engagement with Qi Fenghua.

Yi Qinglou’s initial reaction was to refuse, but the elegant and refined Mother Yi from a year ago had now become haggard. She looked at Yi Qinglou with a bewildered expression and said, “We raised you all these years, what have you ever done for us in return?”

Yi Qinglou was speechless.

For over twenty years, it was Yi Wusheng who made Father Yi and Mother Yi happy. It was Yi Wusheng who made them proud. It was Yi Wusheng who accompanied their parents at home, and it was Yi Wusheng who everyone liked.

“Now, we only have you.” Mother Yi sighed heavily and said, “This is the first time we’re asking you for something. Don’t you want to do it?”

Only then did Yi Qinglou suddenly notice the streaks of gray hair on Mother Yi’s temples.

Finally, Yi Qinglou agreed to the marriage alliance.

Before the engagement, Yi Qinglou informed Qi Fenghua of the truth, except for the identity of the person he liked. Apart from that, he didn’t leave out any details.

As long as Qi Fenghua objected to the alliance, this farcical marriage could be stopped in time.

But Qi Fenghua didn’t… not only did he not object, but he even showed an unusual eagerness. He personally designed and arranged the decoration of the wedding house, from the overall style to every small detail on the shelves.

Everyone said that Qi Fenghua loved him, and Yi Qinglou believed it too.

Growing up under the shadow of his genius brother, compared to the gentle and melancholic demeanor of Yi Wusheng, who had an artistic temperament, although they had the same face, everyone thought his brother was more handsome and charming.

And the only accomplishment that Yi Qinglou could be proud of… happened to be the thing he was most ashamed of.

Until he left for college in another city, avoiding Yi Wusheng, the two brothers went their separate ways and rarely contacted each other. It was only at the university that Yi Qinglou regained his confidence.

But there seemed to be a hurdle in his heart that he could never step over: as long as he compared himself to Yi Wusheng, he would undoubtedly lose.

Only Qi Fenghua, who knew both Yi Wusheng and him, didn’t have any special feelings towards Yi Wusheng, but instead had deep-rooted feelings for himself.

Yi Qinglou didn’t want to admit it, but he seemed to have been comforted.

It was as if his inner demon had been healed by love.

The cold light shone on him, and the room was cold and empty. Lin Hanchuan saw Yi Qinglou’s memories. He paced in the living room for a few rounds and picked up a decorative item placed on the shelf.

It was a small sailboat made of wire, and it was… a derivative cultural product of Vincent van Gogh’s “Fishing Boats on the Beach at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer,” the painter that Yi Wusheng liked.

The entire room’s arrangement was the ‘love nest’ imagined by Qi Fenghua and Yi Wusheng.

The pale color tones that Yi Wusheng liked were so pale that they seemed unnatural. Most of the quirky little decorations that Qi Fenghua liked were made by him.

In the original text, Yi Qinglou vomited upon learning the truth.

Lin Hanchuan now also felt disgusted.

It was just a trivial case of low blood sugar, but Qi Fenghua didn’t come home. He either stayed at the hospital or went back to the Qi family. Lin Hanchuan searched around and found Qi Fenghua and Yi Qinglou’s identification documents.

Regardless of why Qi Fenghua didn’t come back, Lin Hanchuan wasn’t planning to delay any longer. No matter what happened tomorrow, he was going to get a divorce.

People’s hearts are always biased. If there are several children in a family, it’s often difficult to treat them equally. Even twins can’t achieve complete impartiality, let alone others. Suppressing his disgust, Lin Hanchuan lay down in the guest room where Yi Qinglou lived and sighed before falling asleep.

For example, the Qi family seemed to be biased too… It was just that in the Yi family, the older brother was more favored, while in the Qi family, it was the younger brother who was the darling.

Looking at it this way, Yi Qinglou and Qi Yuyu seemed to share a subtle commonality.

The next day, Lin Hanchuan leisurely had breakfast and then took the identification documents of Yi Qinglou and Qi Fenghua as he strolled to the hospital.

As expected, Qi Fenghua was still in the hospital, and there was a friend visiting him.

Lin Hanchuan’s gaze lingered on the ‘friend’ for a few seconds before falling on Qi Fenghua. “Let’s go.”

With just two simple words, Qi Fenghua instantly understood Lin Hanchuan’s meaning. His face changed, and a hint of melancholy couldn’t be hidden in his expression. “Must you…?”

The softly spoken words were blurred, but the other person in the hospital room furrowed their brows. “Yi Qinglou, must you be so heartless?”

Upon hearing this, Lin Hanchuan finally shifted his gaze to him. “Yuan Xiao.”

Yuan Xiao was Yi Qinglou’s ‘friend.’ The two lived in the same dormitory during university and both came from Qingzhou City. They had a close relationship and stayed in touch even after graduation when they returned to Qingzhou.

In Yi Qinglou’s memories, Yuan Xiao was his good friend. However, in the original text, Yuan Xiao was part of Qi Fenghua’s circle of friends and… a secret admirer.

Yuan Xiao was dressed in a simple and clean white shirt, and he sternly reproached, “Fenghua hasn’t been discharged yet, and you’re so eager for a divorce! I’ve known you for so many years, and I never knew you were such a heartless person.”

“Now you know,” Lin Hanchuan said indifferently.

Yuan Xiao was frustrated. He wanted to say something, but all his explanatory words were stopped by Lin Hanchuan’s cold gaze.

Qi Fenghua was immersed in grief and didn’t even notice Yuan Xiao’s turbulent emotions. He looked at Lin Hanchuan and started to say, “I…”

Before he could finish his words, someone pushed the door open, interrupting Qi Fenghua.

Last night, Mother Qi took care of Qi Fenghua all night and left in the early morning. Before leaving, she called Qi Yuyu and asked him to come to the hospital to take care of his younger brother.

Qi Yuyu hurried to the hospital and was surprised to see Lin Hanchuan there.

The two glanced at each other, without mentioning the events of the previous night. They just nodded at each other as a greeting. The stagnant atmosphere in the hospital room was broken by Qi Yuyu’s arrival.

“Big Brother Qi,” Yuan Xiao greeted Qi Yuyu first, with a tone that involuntarily carried some flattery. He attentively brought a chair, “You came to see your brother so early. Big Brother Qi is such a good brother…”

Qi Yuyu looked at Yuan Xiao coldly and asked Qi Fenghua, “Is he your friend?”

Qi Fenghua was at a loss for words, and Yuan Xiao felt a bit awkward.

Qi Yuyu didn’t seem to realize and said, “He came to see you so early. Your friend cares about you.”

Before they could react, Lin Hanchuan laughed first, lazily leaning against the wall. “He was hospitalized because of low blood sugar yesterday, and I didn’t say anything. You rushed here to see my partner. Your friend… is indeed quite something.”

Yuan Xiao’s face turned red. He struggled for a while before finally saying, “Fenghua cares about you with all his heart, but you treat him with indifference. Even as an outsider, I can’t bear to see it. If you have a bit of conscience, you should treat Fenghua better.”

Qi Yuyu suddenly realized, and he asked Lin Hanchuan, “Is he your friend?”

Lin Hanchuan rubbed his temple, somewhat helpless, and tacitly agreed.

“Your judgment of people is not as good as your judgment of art,” Qi Yuyu pondered for a moment and made an emotionless evaluation.

“Indeed,” Lin Hanchuan couldn’t refute, admitting it calmly.

The original owner’s judgment of people was indeed not that great.

He was fixated on Qi Fenghua, who had someone else in his heart, and his friend, Yuan Xiao, who coveted his wife and had Qi Fenghua as his sole focus. If his parents were not chosen, then the person he chose as his partner and his friend were not any better than his parents.

With this in mind, Yi Qinglou’s life seemed even more miserable.

His parents were biased to an extreme, his partner always had a corner of his heart reserved for someone else, and his friend never stood by his side, only blaming him for not treating Qi Fenghua well… It was difficult for Lin Hanchuan not to feel some pity for Yi Qinglou.

“Brother!” Qi Fenghua grew impatient and angrily called out.

Qi Yuyu turned around, his relaxed expression completely gone, returning to the familiar cold and calm demeanor that Qi Fenghua knew well. He spoke in Qi Fenghua’s familiar tone, saying, “If he wants a divorce, let him have it. There are plenty of fish in the sea.”

“I only want him!” Qi Fenghua’s eyes turned red.

If someone unaware heard these words, they would think he was deeply passionate and persistent. It was precisely this deep affection and persistence that moved Yi Qinglou and brought him to the point of no return.

Yuan Xiao was one of the people moved by Qi Fenghua. “Yi Qinglou, if you have a bit of conscience…”

“If you like him, then have him,” Lin Hanchuan suddenly said, as if provoking. After speaking, he seemed to remember something and looked at Yuan Xiao, who was wearing a white shirt with a sly smile, “If you can transform yourself into my appearance, he might really divert his attention.”

His words caused both Qi Fenghua and Yuan Xiao’s expressions to change.

Yuan Xiao thought that Lin Hanchuan was demonstrating, but he had no grounds to be angry.

Qi Fenghua’s expression became subtle. He looked at Lin Hanchuan, wanting to ask but not daring to.

“Yi Wusheng had a spotless reputation until his death. Don’t you want to be his only stain?” Lin Hanchuan stared directly at Qi Fenghua, as if threatening and mocking him from a superior position.

Qi Fenghua’s expression changed repeatedly. He didn’t know what Lin Hanchuan knew or if there was any evidence in his hands… but he didn’t dare to gamble.

With a submissive and resigned manner, Qi Fenghua lowered his head and said word by word, “If you want a divorce, I agree.”

Yi Wusheng is the pure and flawless moonlight in his heart. Even if it’s himself, he doesn’t want a single trace of darkness to taint that moonlight.
