Official Announcement (1)

When the two adults entered, Ruan Qingmu was leaning on a small chair, sitting peacefully and quietly on the edge of the bed with his eyes closed.

Mu Wanli anxiously ran over, looked at Qin Yuan on the bed, and checked on her son while the nurse beside her whispered, “Tell him to go back to his ward and lie down. It’s not good for him to continue like this.”

This classmate’s relationship was a bit too good. Even biological siblings were not so dead set on watching over each other.

When Ruan Qingmu heard the movement, he opened his eyes. Looking at his mother and Qin Zhufeng, he sat upright with a smile on his face. “Mom, Uncle Qin, I will leave after he wakes up.”

Mu Wanli caught a glimpse of his hand holding Qin Yuan’s little finger and her heart jumped in her chest.

She walked over to him, grabbed Ruan Qingmu’s arm, and held it without a sound, separating their hands. “Return with me. There are doctors and nurses here. What’s the use of you waiting here?”

Qin Zhufeng was grateful and anxious. “Xiao-Ruan, you are also hurt. Hurry up and lie down. Don’t make your mom worried. There’s no big problem with Xiao-Yuan. The doctor said it’ll be better after slowly recuperating.”

Ruan Qingmu was grabbed around the shoulders by his mother, but he didn’t move as if he was pinned to the chair by something. “No, I’ll be here and won’t go anywhere.”

Qin Zhufeng was stunned, but Mu Wanli suddenly raised her voice, staring at her son with a piercing look in her gaze. “This is the place where other people’s families stay! You’re only a classmate. There’s no need for you to stay here!”

Ruan Qingmu gently lifted his head, his weary eyes meeting Mu Wanli’s for a long time before he raised his eyebrows and said lightly, “I’m his family.”

His tone was calm, but his eyes were deep and dark, without the usual childishness that he couldn’t help but show in front of his mother as if he was an adult with equal standing with her.

Mu Wanli’s heart jumped wildly. Knowing that this child was amenable to coaxing but not coercion, she quickly changed her tone to a gentle one. “Mu Mu, ah. The nurse will come to give you an infusion. Be obedient…”

Qin Zhufeng also hurriedly advised, “Xiao-Ruan, don’t worry. I’ve found a highly-skilled care worker here. I will also keep watch here myself…”

Ruan Qingmu smiled, looking at him with polite but detached eyes. “A care worker isn’t attentive. After all, he doesn’t have a mom by his side.”

Ruan Qingmu looked at his reddened face and waved his hand around. “I’m not blaming you. Uncle, you also haven’t slept yet. Why don’t you rest first? My chest hurts and I can’t sleep anyway. I might as well feel at ease here.”

Mu Wanli grew even more anxious. “You’re also aware that your chest hurts?!”

While arguing, Uncle Yan entered from outside in a hurry. Miao Miao had been treated and was all right, but he was worried about the children here and came here to check up on them. When he saw the situation in the room, he whispered, “President Qin, why don’t we get a two-person ward? The two children will feel lonely when recuperating. They have a good relationship and will have a companion when they wake up.”

The nurse next to him couldn’t help but interject, “Right. Right. They’re all suffering from bone fractures. If it’s an ordinary hospital, they would have originally stayed in the same department’s ward. This will be convenient for the doctor when he does his rounds.”

Qin Zhufeng suddenly became enlightened and nodded his head repeatedly. “Change! Change the room! Hurry up!”

The little nurse pursed her lips and smiled. “No need. Two-people’s ward isn’t as big as this one. It would be better to add an extra bed here. I’ll call people to get this done now.”

… The nurse quickly returned and added another bed to the hospital bed after a short period of time. This was originally a luxurious single room in a private hospital with a spacious area, a wardrobe sofa, and a TV. Yet, the extra bed didn’t make it look crowded.

Mu Wanli opened her mouth several times, wanting to interrupt but in the end, swallowed back her words.

She looked at her son’s silent and unwavering face and felt an unexplained agitation in her heart. She dragged Ruan Qingmu to the hospital bed and whispered in his ear, “If you don’t lie down, I will cut off your hands! You’re not even a little girl in kindergarten. Why do you grab people’s hands!”

As soon as she entered, she caught sight of her son grabbing Qin Yuan’s fingers. She had just separated them, turned her head to talk, and the two held hands again in the blink of an eye. Even if the classmates were close, they couldn’t be this close.

Ruan Qingmu did not refute, quietly lying beside Qin Yuan’s bed. Finally, he had the strength to smile at Mu Wanli and pout. “Mom, my hands are already frozen stiff. They won’t hurt anymore if you cut them off.”

These words brought tears to Mu Wanli’s eyes. Looking at her son’s red and swollen hand, she repeatedly called out, “Nurse, nurse! Do you have an ointment for him to put on his hands? What did the doctor say?”

The nurse smiled bitterly. “Aren’t I going to handle it according to the doctor’s advice? Your son even pulled out the injection needle. Little student, you can’t be like this. I’ve never seen such an un-compliant patient before in my life.”

The adults had been up all night, worrying and running around in the snow and ice. Now that they had finally settled down, they were all exhausted. It was not good to have so many people in the ward constantly, so Mu Wanli went to lie down on a bed in Xiao-Zhuang’s ward while Qin Zhufeng and Old Yan got a room in a nearby hotel.

There were only two young patients left in the ward.
