Systemless in a Parallel World

132 Joy and Desperation

After his skin ruptured, his arm had been twisted and broken.

His arms had been frozen, and now he was burned and his skin and flesh partially corroded.

If anyone were to tell Zayn that he would have to face all these types of injuries in less than five minutes, he would call that person a crazy maniac.

Unfortunately, that crazy maniac was totally right.

Zayn's body looked more like the landscape of a large battlefield after a war than an actual battlefield would look like after a full-blown war.

His mind was a mess, just like his body as well.

But that didn't mean he was allowed to give up yet. The referee had yet to determine the winner of the fight. If Manager Tilan wouldn't have acted like a piece of shit, Zayn would have considered remaining to lie on the ground and sleeping soundly.

That way, the referee could just say that the Chimera was the last one to die, and that the Challenger lost the challenge. With that method, the Colosseum, or rather the Colosseum's Gambling Ceasaria wouldn't have to pay out too much money to the Gamblers who had been focused on betting on Zayn's victory.

However, because Manager Tilan was a piece of shit and an asshat, Zayn chose to force his body and mind to heed his will. Slowly but steadily, he was getting up from the ground.

Manager Tilan went against the jurisdiction of the city by healing the Chimera. This endangered Zayn's life more than necessary. It was also the reason why he looked and felt like a mess.

'If you're acting like this, you might as well kill yourself. After all, your lovely business will go down the drain, fucker!' Zayn thought in his mind, slowly moving to the left Dragontale Twin Saber which he had lost somewhen around the end of the battle.

He picked up the weapon, which took a great deal of effort, and sheathed it. Afterward, he walked over to the Chimera's charred body, grasping the Soul Wisp of the Chimera before he absorbed a few soul particles to refresh his body and mind.

This gave him enough energy to use the Soul Guidance technique to make sure that the Soul Wisp of the Chimera wouldn't be able to ascend and that it would follow him for the next while.

Zayn then waited for the Medics, hoping that they would rush into the arena in no time.

However, the only thing he heard was an ear-piercing outcry.

"NOOOOOOO!"

This was enough to make Zayn smile.

'This fucking hurts.'

'Well, it's worth it.'

Smiling hurt like hell in his current condition, but Zayn knew that Manager Tilan had been the one who had issued the ear-piercing outcry. The Manager probably saw his gambling empire crumbling in front of his eyes.

If that was not enough reason for him to smile, what else would there be?

Zayn was overjoyed, no matter how much pain he felt at this moment!

Thunderous applause and thousands of spectators crying out in joy followed the desperate outcry of the manager. Tens of thousands of people had bet on Zayn's victory against the Chimera, and all of them would be given a great fortune in return.

That was, of course, if the Colosseum's Gambling Ceasaria was able to pay everyone!

The first Spectators got up from their ground with excitement gleaming in their eyes. They were shouting out loud, thanking the Gods for Zayn's victory as they made their way to the counter of the Colosseum's Gambling Ceasaria.

More spectators quickly followed. They wanted to obtain their rewards as quickly as possible and splurge their fortune. After all, they were about to get rich!

Zayn was still waiting for the Medics to rush in the arena as he turned his head in the direction of the desperate outcry. He could hardly keep his eyes open and see Manager Tilan.

The man was furious, and ghastly pale at the same time. It didn't take a detective to determine that Manager Tilan would do everything necessary in order to retrieve his money and the artifact he was about to lose.

'Why are these idiots taking so long?' Zayn wondered after a while. He made his way to the gate that connected the arena grounds with the basement of the Colosseum

He came in through this gate and it was already opened for him to step out. Four Medics were already standing there, but they didn't actually dare to enter the arena.

The four medics were shivering in fright, and they could hardly maintain eye contact with Zayn as he made his way to them.

"Heal me!" He ordered coldly, while his body exuded eerily cold and searing heat simultaneously.

For a moment, Zayn considered killing the four Medics just to absorb their ownerless soul particles. This would be a much easier way to refresh his body rather than waiting for the slowpokes to start healing him.

Fortunately, his order was not ignored.

The four medics rushed over to him and they started to heal him immediately. First, his inside had to be healed. Internal injuries would be the worst if they turned into permanent problems. Focused on their work, the Medics forgot Zayn's challenge for a moment. The fear they felt toward Manager Tilan dispersed for the period of their treatment as well.

Thus, for the next ten minutes, none of them said a word while Zayn was slowly healed.

His condition was not yet fully tended to when the four Medics stopped, sweating buckets and drained of the color in their face.

"That's all we can do right now. In half a day we should have replenished enough of our strength to heal you a second time," One of the Medics said, but Zayn just shakes his head

He turned around and disappeared into the basement of the Colosseum, where he paved his way to the 'hidden' door that was usually used by the staff.

However, instead of disappearing completely, Zayn approached the entrance of the Colosseum, where he closed his eyes while slowly devouring the ownerless soul particles of the Chimera's Wisp.

The Soul Wisp hovered around him, only for Zayn to see.

He was still tired and would rather sleep for a week or two in a row, but he had something else to do.

Now that he won his bet against Manager Tilan, how could Zayn miss out on the opportunity to obtain his well-deserved reward, one of the God's Era Artifacts?
