The mayor had declared a state of emergency and everyone had retreated into their houses but from the looks of things, everyone would be retreating out of the city soon.

These blasts had been continuous for an entire night and some citizens were unaware of what was happening while others knew exactly what was going on.

Up above a high two thousand feet wall that surrounded the entire city, MBO officers could be seen standing in the west area in a lined-up format.

Two people In particular stood out as they rained down multiple powerful attacks, decimating the ground up ahead.

"They started showing up again," Red Shadow stated as his eyes glowed with a cross-red light.

On the ground, thousands of feet below, multiple ashy-coloured silhouettes could be seen.

They were in the tens of thousands and could be seen charging crazily towards the wall. Some of them were oddly able to manoeuvre the attacks and close in on the wall area.

Boom!

A blast sent some of them sinking into the ground before they could make contact with the walls.

Some projectiles would occasionally fly upwards from the ground area but most of the officers here were skilled and successfully blocked or dodged these projectiles.

"We need to send them further back, or this part of the wall will be breached," Gradier Xanatus voiced out as he stretched out his hand raining ballistic blue projectiles.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Explosions rang out ahead as the radius within thousands and thousands of feet were affected by these blasts.

"Did they find out what the box held?" Red Shadow asked.

"They did and it is not good," Gradier Xanatus stated.

"What is it?" Red Shadow asked.

"I will tell you everything after we have successfully destroyed this wave," Gradier Xanatus responded before jumping off the wall.

Every officer standing on the wall had shocked expressions as they watched him land in front and start blasting the infected away.

Red Shadow stretched his hand forward, opening a reddish portal before walking through it.

Another portal opened right beside Gradier Xanatus and he walked through it.

These infected had surrounded them from every side before they knew it but both of them weren't bothered and began to blast through their ranks with their abilities.

Along this wall, one could see it wasn't only this area that was being attacked.

From the south to the southwest to the North and then the northeast... The infected had surrounded a 270° perimeter of the wall and were closing in, intending to breach it.

This wall had no less than five thousand MBO officers standing on it as Gradier Xanatus had managed to bring it back up early. Had it not been for this, the wall would have already been breached earlier.

In the last twelve hours, they had been fighting back the infected who had suddenly spiked in number.

The alarm that had gone off in the city earlier, was related to this. Some infected had Infiltrated the city and were causing havoc in a particular area.

Gradier Xanatus and Red Shadow had gone to take care of the situation and hundreds of them were invading at the time.

After destroying them all, another MBO officer based in Luchan City came to report how thousands of them were approaching the city.

Some city folks who were killed during the incident got infected and Red Shadow had to make the hard call of slaughtering them all.

The wall that was erected around the city was the doing of an MBO Mixedblood. Besides that, it had been fortified by other MBO technologies making it extremely sturdy.

They were successful in ridding the city of the infected that infiltrate and now the new objective was to keep the infected out of the city while they came up with a way to figure out what led to this situation and how to take care of it.

Gradier Xanatus and Red Shadow had handed the box they took from the Slarkov to the MBO scientists who were deployed here to figure out exactly what it was.

During this time frame, the infected had shown up in very high numbers from Gildian City.

Gildian City was very large and its borders were almost surrounding the whole of Luchas City so the infected were coming in from almost every direction

This made things difficult but with the numbers of MBO officers all around the walls, they had been able to contain the situation.

It's been more than half a day since this situation began and more than a hundred thousand infected had been killed during this time frame but no one understood where they were originating from with such numbers.

These weren't infected city folks so where exactly did such numbers come from? Nonetheless, they were coming from a ruined city that was supposed to be unpopulated.

They had sent some high-tech drones to figure out where exactly the infected were coming from within the city but the fog covering the city carried an energy that interfered with the signals.

It was already expected that this would happen since the city was not conducive for anyone or anything with its corrosive energy.

Now that Gradier Xanatus had figured out something, he was leading Red Shadow with him into the ranks of the infected with a motive.

The others standing on the walls were within the ranks of Echo to Kilo while Gradier Xanatus and Red Shadow were both Delta rank mixedbloods.

They were the most powerful there and Gradier Xanatus was the highest ranked MBO officer so he was currently in command.

While he and Red Shadow ventured into the ranks of the infected, he gave commands to make sure the city walls were not breached by the infected.

"Where are we headed?" Red Shadow asked as he tore through another infected leaving a massive hole in his chest.

"Gildian City... The box contained a different variant of the infection," Gradier Xanatus responded as he sent out a powerful fist, clearing a bunch of infected in front.

"A different variant?" Red Shadow voiced with a suspicious look.
