The Dawn of the New World

Chapter 133 - Goodbye

"HEAVENLY BLARE!"

*BOOOOOOOM*

Hao Xuan turned into a blue streak and clashed head-on with the gigantic Mammoth, sending debris and mud flying everywhere.

Sin stood rooted to the ground, not knowing what to say. She looked down and noticed some broken components of a defensive formation. Hao Xuan had probably used it in case any beasts got past him.

Her feelings were in turmoil. For the last 10 hours she had been sitting cozily in front of a fireplace with Kana cursing the man in front of her, while he was out here fighting in the cold rain. Not only did he not let her fight but chose to let her believe that he was a cowardly scum.

"Mama...daddy's back," Kana's face adorned a dazzling smile as she weakly spoke.

"Mhm," Sin could only nod her head in shame, thinking of all the things she said about him.

*Huff*Huff*

Hao Xuan stood a few meters away from the mammoth in even worse condition than before, while the mammoth had a few more minor scratches.

"What is your damn skin made off?!" he said trying to catch his breath. It really had been too long since he started fighting and now he was just barely able to stand.

"Come back," Sin murmured.

"Eh? Did you say something?" Hao Xuan asked without turning around.

"Come back, your daughter wants to see you," she shouted grumpily.

"Give me a min, let me just take care of this guy and I'll be right there," he said, trying to once again lift the glaive with some effort.

"Just come back already. I'll take care of it," she shouted angrily and a pillar of Qi erupted from her body and reached the sky. Faint images of three giant palaces also appeared behind her back and a huge pressure descended on all the remaining beasts, although the mammoth was the only actual threat to any of them.

Hao Xuan went silent and turned around to look her.

"Spirit realm? Let a guy act cool will ya.." he shook his head and stored the glaive away while walking back to her. The pressure on the mammoth was so much that it couldn't even run away, let alone think about attacking him.

"Daddy," Kana extended her hand towards him which was semi-transparent now.

Hao Xuan smiled and used his right hand to take her from Sin, "Good girl, did you take care of Xiao xiao while I was gone?"

"Mhm," she nodded while smiling ear to ear.

Hao Xuan was too tall so he sat down on the ground while Sin silently stood beside him and held up the umbrella. Her two daggers shot forward like fireflies, leaving only faint blue trails behind. They returned within a couple of seconds and all the remaining beasts including the Obsidian Saw-toothed mammoth which was at the top of the Origin realm fell down without even making a sound.

There were faint cuts on their foreheads from which a bit of brain matter was spilling out.

The palaces vanished while the three of them were the only beings left alive within miles.

Hao Xuan was sitting with his legs crossed, blood still spilling out from some of the wounds, Kana in his arms and Sin standing next to him keeping the rain away.

"Mama, can you sing me a song?" Kana asked while looking at Sin with puppy dog eyes, leaving her no choice but to comply.

For the next half an hour, Sin sang several different songs while Hao Xuan and Kana praised her.

Kana looked up at Sin and then at him and smiled, "Daddy, you must take care of Xiao xiao when I'm gone alright?"

As if a bolt of lightning struck Hao Xuan's heart, he felt pain like never before. This innocent little girl, she knew she was about to fade away?

But what could he do or say other than nod in silence? So he did just that.

"And let mama play with her too, you mustn't keep her only to yourself," she followed up with another request that made Sin smile.

"Of course, what's mine is hers," he said as a matter-of-factly.

"Mhm," she nodded one last time and extended out her hand to caress his face.

Her body slowly turned into small white specks of light and floated off towards the sky, leaving behind the little sleeping pup in Hao Xuan arms.

Sin and Hao Xuan both followed the trail of lights with their eyes until it vanished from their sight. Neither of them moved or said anything for the next 10 minutes or so.

"Haha, It hurts more than I thought it would," Hao Xuan laughed self-deprecatingly and stood up with some effort. Sin didn't know if he was talking about his wounds or Kana moving on.

He took out a small circular disc and carefully put the pup inside. With a press of a button, a yellow-colored barrier covered the whole thing.

This was a type of container used to hold small living creatures. It allowed the circulation of air but nothing else. It was really expensive and was only used by the rich to show off their dangerous pets.

He gently pushed away Sin's hand that was holding the umbrella.

The heavy rain fell on him like dead bullets and washed away the blood. He closed his eyes and faced the sky while droplets of water streamed down his face.

Sin looked up at him with a troubled expression wanting to say something but seeing his face with the tears that he was trying to hide in the rainwater, she stopped.

"Do you want the pup? I already have quite a few of these brats to take care of so I probably won't be able to give her much attention," he inquired with closed eyes.

"No. I have to go back home. My father has called for me so I can't stay here anymore. And where I'm going, it's no place for such a frail little creature," she shook her head looking at the cute little puppy and started walking away, but stopped after a few steps.

"If it is meant to be, we shall meet once again, Perfuro Deimos. Don't die too soon," and with small steps she also vanished into the darkness, leaving an astonished Hao Xuan behind.

'Deimos' literally meant 'Demon' in ancient eras, while 'Perfuro' meant raging or mad. So she basically called him Mad or Raging Demon, which was a combination of his alias and the name of his unit, Mad Saints.

"You knew about me?" he mumbled absentmindedly.

*Ruuumble*

The earth shook as sounds of beasts came from almost every side, waking him from his daze.

He looked at the mountain of corpses and quickly activated the physique and started absorbing the nearby corpses to heal himself.

*ROAAR*

Within a few minutes, the beasts were close enough that their roars echoed throughout the valley. Hao Xuan had no choice but to stop. He looked at the time and summoned Bai.

"South, keep running until you see a town. I might pass out during the journey so don't pick a fight. Just run," he said while patting his head and got on top with Xiao Xiao in his embrace.

Bai growled in response and nimbly jumped from tree to tree, vanishing into the dark jungle.
