The Distinguished Cute Master

Chapter 58 - The Weight of a Kiss

Chapter 58 – The Weight of a Kiss

A while later, Yuan Chu heard Ye Chenyuan’s weakened voice from within the giant clam.

“I’m fine…” He paused. “I was just a bit drained.”

Venerable Li protested from his sea of consciousness. “What do you mean ‘a little’? You’re only at Foundation Building! You used half of your body’s blood and essence to revive the dragon egg! And you used such draining dragon language. If it weren’t for those two acupoints you opened which let you have spiritual energy reserves that far surpass the ordinary person, you would have been sucked dry by the magic!”

Ye Chenyuan ignored Venerable Li and asked Yuan Chu, “What about you? Are you hurt?”

He couldn’t see outside, so he didn’t know what condition his master was in. However, not to mention the ice wyrm’s high cultivation, a beast’s body was stronger than a human’s. Was she alright?

Yuan Chu lowered her head to look and grimaced in pain. She was definitely hurt. Although she was strong, the wyrm wasn’t a vegetarian. If it weren’t for Ye Chenyuan, even if she killed the ice wyrm, she would probably end up half-dead in the process.

However, what she said was: “I’m fine. How could I not be! It was just a little wyrm…”

Now, Ji Hongyan had flown over to the lake. She cried out after she saw Yuan Chu.

“Senior Yue, are you alright? You look badly injured!”

Yuan Chu immediately went silent. She somewhat guiltily glanced at the giant clam and then looked down at her blood-covered body. With an entirely unconcerned manner, she said, “They’re all small wounds. It just… just looks a bit scary. It’s nothing much…”

But it hurts so much! However, with people around, she had to stand her ground! She was someone’s master now!

Ye Chenyuan shook out of frustration. He knew his master was lying!

If he wasn’t trapped in the clam right now, he definitely…!

Ye Chenyuan couldn’t think of what he would definitely do. He didn’t seem to possess anything that could restrain Yuan Chu. Instead, it was Yuan Chu who ate at him so.

“Hehe…” In this situation, Yuan Chu could only laugh foolishly. Luckily, she had saved Ji Hongyan’s life before, so Ji Hongyan obediently bandaged her wounds.

Once all of her wounds were taken care of, Yuan Chu put her clothes back on. Only then did she walk to the giant clam by the lake and carefully scrutinized it.

“What is up with this clam? Oh right, Ye Chenyuan, how did you get me out of the clam before?”

Ye Chenyuan was quiet for a moment. He didn’t know what to say.

It was Venerable Li who cried out from within his sea of consciousness. “Tell him to kiss it. It’ll definitely work if he kisses it! The legends lied. This clam doesn’t have any use in testing the sincerity of heart. As long as a man kisses it, it will open. If you don’t believe me, let him try!”

Ye Chenyuan didn’t want to say anything. Even if Venerable Li’s guess may be right, the man in front of them wasn’t a real man.

Seeing Ye Chenyuan stay silent, Ji Hongyan suddenly drew near and said, “He told me to kiss the clam before. Could it be that the clam opens when someone kisses it? But it didn’t do anything after I kissed it.”

“Really? That’s strange.” Yuan Chu stroked her chin. “How about this? I’ll try it!
Ye Chenyuan’s heart rose in an instant! Just as Yuan Chu lowered her head to kiss the clam, Ye Chenyuan anxiously cried out, “Wait!”

“What’s wrong?”

Yuan Chu tilted her head, kneeling in front of the clam.

Ye Chenyuan’s chest undulated fiercely. Suddenly, he felt like there was less air in the clam as he gasped for breath. He didn’t know why he was so nervous. He only thought, What if the clam doesn’t open when Master kisses it?

At the thought of his master being insincere towards him, he felt all of his hopes turning to dust.

He was able to open the one-heart clam because he held forbidden feelings for his master. However, although his master cherished him extremely, she was young. He was afraid she wouldn’t even know her own feelings. Thus, he would rather not try than be disappointed.

“… You don’t have to kiss it. I let her kiss it as a joke.”

Ye Chenyuan’s depressed voice traveled over. Yuan Chu thought it sounded a bit disappointed.

What was he disappointed with? Yuan Chu couldn’t figure it out. The boy was just a bit more than ten years old. It was that point in time where he would have deep and sensitive thoughts. She was way too lazy to guess at them!

“It’s fine, I’ll just kiss it to see if it works. It won’t be a hindrance!”

Once she finished her cheerful words, she simply kissed the clam without waiting for Ye Chenyuan to react. Then, she silently stared at the clam and saw that there wasn’t a reaction.

Ye Chenyuan’s spirits were abruptly lifted and then ruthlessly smashed down. The disappointment was like a needle stabbing into his heart.

Would it really not work? Was it really a no?!

His ever clear eyes turned bloodshot. Deep within his heart, besides pain, he was also malevolent and resentful.

Why didn’t it work? Why could he do it, but she couldn’t?!

Yuan Chu didn’t realize anything off about Ye Chenyuan. Confused, she knocked on the clam with her finger. “It’s really not opening…”

However, at this moment, the giant clam trembled. It didn’t change colors, but it gradually opened a sliver.

Yuan Chu’s eyes widened. “Hey! It’s opening?”

Kneeling, she watched the clam open bit by bit. She cried out in her heart at how miraculous it was. There was actually a clam that would open with a kiss! So amusing!

Venerable Li took the chance to say, “What did I say? Any man would work! Sure enough, it’s a l*wd clam!”

Meanwhile, Ye Chenyuan was dumbstruck! He dazedly watched the ray of light shining into the crack. Then, he saw the person kneeling in front of him and saw her face which had the same brilliant expression no matter how many times she changed it… The giant clam had opened to her kiss. His heart was filled to the brim with ecstasy, but in the end, he felt some bitterness surface…

When Yuan Chu looked at Ye Chenyuan, she realized that he was looking back at her with an indescribable expression in his eyes. It seemed bitter, yet sweet.

How to describe it? She really could not say, but she knew that the moment their eyes met, her heart trembled.

He was wearing pure white clothes and sitting cross-legged inside the clam. His scattered hair and exquisite complexion made him seem as alluring as an evil spirit birthed from the clam.

Ye Chenyuan’s eyes slowly reddened, his thin lips pressed tightly together. His agitated yet controlled expression confused Yuan Chu.

“How are you?”

She reached her hand out to Ye Chenyuan. There was a smile in her eyes, like a shimmering of sunlight hidden within. “Are you afraid of the dark? I’ll pull you out!”

In this instant, that was all Yuan Chu could think of.
Yet, in the next second, Ye Chenyuan didn’t grab her hand. Instead, he threw himself towards her, tightly hugging her!

With a “thump”, the medicinal bottle in Ji Hongyan’s hand dropped to the ground. She stared at the dog pair of men with her eyes wide open!

When Yuan Chu heard the movement, she hurriedly looked back and gestured for Ji Hongyan to be quiet. She thought that Ye Chenyuan was truly frightened. After all, no matter how strong someone was, he would still have things they feared. Maybe Ye Chenyuan was afraid of the dark?

Even though he had a thousand thoughts in his heart, Ye Chenyuan couldn’t say any of them. When his master kissed the clam, it only opened after a pause, and it didn’t change color. It could only be said that Master had warm intentions for him, but not many. Thus, he couldn’t say it. He couldn’t scare away the young, undiscovered sprout in her heart. He couldn’t express the slightest bit of his feelings!
