The Herb King

352 Flames of War

Aethelwolf fought fiercely with Zorzoch and Gozgel. His Sword Momentum enveloped the area, intimidating the Underworlders at the scene.

"What a powerful Sword Momentum!" Zorzoch's eyes flashed with shock. He never would have thought he would actually be intimidated by a Level 5 Esper.

"I already told you that this guy is abnormal. We should kill him quickly before reaches Transcendence!" Gozgel muttered in a grave tone.

Zorzoch snorted at his words. "You don't need to tell me."

While the three of them were fighting, Semias was observing Aethelwolf. The skill he had shown made his eyebrows crease. "This person needs to be killed!" Killing intent flashed in his eyes as he stared at Aethelwolf. However, just as he was about to make a move, a graceful figure suddenly appeared before him.

"I won't allow you to harm him!" Xymera grabbed a weapon from out of nowhere. It was a wand that greatly amplified her world essence.

Semias frowned at her sudden interference. "You're not qualified to stop me, Xymera! Scram!" He shouted angrily as he pounced at her. A slim short sword appeared on his hand and he brandished it aggressively.

The battle between these experts caused a huge commotion and the soldiers of both armies had to stop and take a look at the sky. Everyone saw that the firmament burning. It looked as if the end of the world was near.

All sorts of powerful spells were summoned. They were so powerful that some of the nearby soldiers were killed by the impact of their attacks!

"So this is a battle between Transcendent experts... How powerful!" Lark Whitmond who had just arrived at the scene muttered in disbelief. He thought he was already one of the best warriors on the continent after he had become a Level 5 Esper. He realized how foolish his thoughts were back then.

"We can't help him at all..." Empress Shiphra gritted her teeth. She couldn't even follow the movements of Aethelwolf and the Transcendent experts. The only thing she could see was their afterimages.

"You guys don't dawdle! Evacuate the injured soldiers and stop the Underworlders from advancing!" Argus shouted at the stunned experts. They came here to support Aethelwolf after hearing that he went to the enemy territory alone. However, they found out that they couldn't help him at all.

Soon, the experts of the Regalis Continent snapped back to reality after heading Argus' words.

"Gather the soldiers and kill the Underworlders!" A Level 5 Esper shouted while raising his weapon in midair.

"Kill!"

"Kill the Underworlders!"

The arrival of the Level 5 Espers and the top experts of the Regalis Continent changed the tide of war. The Underworlders started losing their ground from the ferocious counterattack of the allied army.

Under the leadership of Argus and the other Level 5 Espers, the Underworlder army could only retreat. There was no one who could stop Argus. His identity as the former top 1 expert in the Heavenly Might Rankings was not just for show. He showed an overwhelming fighting ability and no Underworlder could even last after a single blow from his weapon. He was like a nightmare for the Underworlders. The other experts weren't idle either. Although their strength wasn't as exaggerated as Argus', they still displayed powerful abilities.

The war between both armies lasted for over five days before the reinforcements of the allied army arrived. The Underworlders also called for their reinforcements so the battle was extended to over two weeks.

The number of casualties on both sides was already in the millions. Their corpses were scattered all over the battlefield. There were dead bodies everywhere the eyes could see.

In the third week of the war, the mighty Transcendent expert of the Underworlders, Gozgel, fell under Aethelwolf's sword. His corpse plummeted from the sky which caused the morale of the Underworlders to fall.

On the same day, Semias used a powerful spell that severely injured Xymera. Aethelwolf had no choice but to retreat with her.

The Underworlders temporarily retreated back to the Northern Region, while the allied army barricaded the Northern Region.

"How is she?" Aethelwolf asked the doctor responsible for Xymera's treatment.

"She is still unconscious. We have already injected the pills into her body, but because of her severe injuries, her recovery rate is slow. I think she will wake up in two months." The doctor replied carefully. He knew that the man in front of him was not just a Level 5 Esper. He was recognized as the strongest expert in the Regalis Continent with strength that was on the same level as Transcendent experts.

"Is that so? Continue her treatment and station more guards in her ward." Aethelwolf said before visiting the other injured experts. He only left the hospital when night came.

Aethelwolf encountered Argus and the others when he was on his way to his tent. He noticed that the gazes they used to look at him were no longer the same. This made him secretly in his heart.

"How are you guys?" Aethelwolf forced out a smile as he waved his hand at them.

"We are fine, Sir Aethelwolf." Estes replied with a complicated look on his face.

"We lost many of our experts in battle. General Trevor and Holy General Kayu even died in battle." Eliazar shook his head and sighed emotionally. The others turned silent at his words.

Suddenly, Eliazar felt a hand on his shoulder. He raised his head and saw Aethelwolf smiling at him.

"They are heroes of our Regalis Continent. We must win this war and spread their stories to the next generation!" Aethelwolf muttered.

Hearing his words, Eliazar and the others clenched their fists as they nodded their heads.

"We must win this war and not let their sacrifice be in vain!"

"We must avenge them!"

Aethelwolf felt better when he saw the changes in their faces. "You guys should rest. We will be attacking the Underworlders in two days!" He muttered before walking towards his tent.
