The Herb King

366 Fishing With My Daughters

The Golden Lake was true to its name. It radiated golden radiance and the dense world essence it emitted could make one feel refreshed.

"Wow! What a beautiful lake!" Olivia excitedly said.

Shane's eyes also shone with excitement. "Papa, are there fishes in that lake?" She asked while looking up to her father.

Aethelwolf stared at her and smiled gently. "Yes, there are fishes in the lake." He replied. His soul was now stronger and using his spiritual perception, he sensed the abundant life within the lake. He even sensed some powerful magical beasts hidden in the depths of the lake. The strongest was a Golden Core Formation and there were also a few Core Formation magical beasts. The most common were Foundation Establishment magical beasts. As for Nascent Soul magical beasts, Aethelwolf didn't sense one at that level.

"Papa, can we catch some fish?" Shane tugged his hand.

Aethelwolf patted her head and nodded. "Of course. Let's go. I'll teach you guys how to catch a fish."

The eyes of his daughters shone with joy upon hearing this. "Yey!"

Aethelwolf grabbed three fishing rods. These weren't your ordinary fishing rods. The materials used to make them were far from ordinary. They could be compared to a Core-Grade item!

Aethelwolf took out some wooden chairs for them to sit on. "Look here. I'll demonstrate to you guys how to use this item."

Aethelwolf showed his daughters how to use the fishing rod. They were quick learners so they easily learned how to use it.

"This is easy!" Olivia said.

"Mn." Shane nodded her head in agreement.

"The most important thing to do when you are fishing is to be patient. Just hold on to your fishing rods and wait for the fish to take the bait." Aethelwolf calmly explained.

"Okay!"

The little girls nodded their heads.

Looking at the father and daughters trio, Samira and Julie smiled gently.

"I hope it's always like this…" Samira uttered as she leaned on her chair.

Julie didn't say anything, but she also hoped that no trouble would come their way.

"I cauwght a fwish! I did it! Yey!" Shane excitedly jumped as she pulled her fishing rod.

"Good job! Just hold it tightly. It will soon get tired and once that happens, you can take it out of the water." Aethelwolf came to her side and instructed her.

Shane followed her father's instructions while putting on a serious look.

Not long later, the fish seemed to slow down and it stopped its aggressive movements.

Seeing this, Aethelwolf told her to pull the rod.

Shane did as she was told and used all her strength. Soon, a one-foot-sized blue fish came into view. It was fat and it had a beautiful pattern on its body.

Aethelwolf grabbed the fish and put it in the basket he had prepared. "Looks like we'll eat fish for dinner." He grinned. The fish that Shane caught was an Early Stage Foundation Establishment magical beast. He was surprised that she managed to catch this fish with her frail little arms.

"Good job, sweetheart." Aethelwolf kissed her cheeks, making the little girl giggle.

"Papa, your beard ish tickling me! Tee-hee!"

Olivia walked up to them and stared at the fish inside the basket. "You did great, Shane!" She gave her little sister a thumbs up and this made the little imp laugh in joy.

"Papa, does this fish taste good?" Shane asked while pointing at the fish.

"Yes, but it's too small for all of us. We need to catch more so we can have a full tummy." Aethelwolf had already inspected the fish using his appraisal skill. The fish wasn't toxic. It was filled with healthy nutrients which it got from the lake. This was good for his daughters, especially for Shane who was still developing.

"Okay!" Shane excitedly grabbed her fishing rod. She then carefully put some bait on the hook.

This triggered Olivia's competitive spirit. Her younger sister had already caught a fish so she had to catch one as well.

Aethelwolf chuckled when he saw this. There was no harm in having a little competition. He also wanted to catch a bigger fish so he put a special bait on his fishing hook.

In about two minutes, Olivia finally managed to catch her first fish. It was a brown fish with black stripes. It had sharp spikes on its dorsal fin, making it look a bit intimidating. The fish was three feet long, but Olivia easily lifted it in the air.

The fish was a Late Stage Foundation Establishment magical beast so Aethelwolf used his spiritual power to stop it from making a dangerous move. Olivia would be fine if something happened, but Shane was still young and she wasn't as strong. Aethelwolf did this to prevent some accidents from happening.

"Oh, wow! This one is big! Good job!" Aethelwolf patted Olivia's head while smiling at her.

Olivia grinned as she closed her eyes.

Not long later, Shane caught another fish, but it was only half the size of what Olivia had caught. Even so, this made the little girl ecstatic and she couldn't stop laughing as she put the fish inside the basket.

Aethelwolf already sealed the cultivation of the fish so he just let his daughter put it inside the basket.

After about two hours, the trio already caught more than ten fish. Aethelwolf caught the largest one and it was the size of an elephant. It was too huge so Aethelwolf threw it back into the lake.

"Let's go home." Aethelwolf said as he grabbed the baskets.

"Let me help you with that, my lord!" William hurriedly came to his side when he saw Aethelwolf carrying the baskets filled with freshly caught fish.

"Thank you." Aethelwolf handed the baskets to William and told him to put them on the carriage.

Shane and Olivia reluctantly returned their fishing rods to Aethelwolf. They had become addicted to fishing. The thrill of catching a fish was a new experience for them.

"Papa, let's go back here tomorrow." Shane said while staring at her father with her big puppy eyes.

How could Aethelwolf reject her when she was like this? He nodded his head as he smiled dotingly. "Alright, let's go back tomorrow."

"Yey!"
