After uttering those words, Wen Zhecheng left. Only Rong Yuheng remained, staring blankly at the closed bathroom door. He was a kind hamster, never causing harm to anyone.

Rong Yuheng pondered fruitlessly for a while before, as usual, deciding to give up. He undressed and started taking a shower.

The shower at Wen Zhecheng’s house was very comfortable, with pleasantly warm water. Steam filled the bathroom, and the sound of water “splashing” seemed almost hypnotic. After washing for a while, Rong Yuheng began to feel drowsy, and his eyes slowly closed.

Water flowed down from above him, carrying his intelligence along with it, down the drain…

Rong Yuheng dozed for a moment, then shook his head to snap out of it. He couldn’t wash too quickly, or he would get excited.

After a brief consideration, Rong Yuheng decided to clear his throat to wake himself up:

In an instant, a resounding tenor voice echoed through the bathroom, mixed with the “splashing” of water and a touch of resonance, reverberating through the entire bedroom:

“Good mountains, good waters, good place~

Every road is wide and unobstructed~

…Wen The Jackal had just opened the bedroom door, “?”

Rong Yuheng’s singing, accompanied by the sound of water, grew even more intense:

“When friends arrive, there’s good wine~

If the Jackal come,

Greet them with a hunting rifle—!”

“…?” Wen the Jackal.

He clutched his pants, and the fleeting romantic thoughts vanished instantly.

Wen Zhecheng turned to hang the pants and bathrobe on the doorknob, then knocked on the door to interrupt Rong Yuheng’s intoxicated singing. “Your clothes are hung here. Come out and get them when you’re done.”

Rong Yuheng’s singing abruptly stopped, and then a humming sound, accompanied by steam, followed. “Thank you, Master~”

Wen Zhecheng froze for a moment, feeling the dissipating thoughts gradually converging again.

Rong Yuheng quickly finished cleaning himself inside and wrapped a towel around himself before opening the door, his head peeking out to take a look.

He saw Wen Zhecheng sitting at the table near the window, earnestly flipping through a magazine.

Rong Yuheng reached for his pants and bathrobe, retreated back inside to change, and felt a warm sensation as he stepped out. “So warm.”

Wen Zhecheng looked up at him. His hair was still damp, resting on his forehead. His face had a rosy and tender hue from the heat, and his eyes seemed like they had soaked in steam, gleaming with vitality.

Wen Zhecheng only glanced at him briefly, then quickly lowered his gaze. “It’s getting cold. You’re only wearing a bathrobe. I turned on the floor heating so you won’t catch a cold.”

Touched, Rong Yuheng placed a hand over his heart. “Master even knows about maintaining a constant temperature!”

Wen Zhecheng was both exasperated and amused by his words. He stood up and pushed Rong Yuheng back into the bathroom. “Go blow-dry your hair.”

Rong Yuheng, with a slightly self-satisfied smile, took liberties, “It’s the Master’s duty.”

Wen Zhecheng, “…”

Joy… joy descended from the heavens!

He restrained his lips from curling up too much, utilizing all his skill to perform an expression of “inevitability.” “Indeed, a precious hamster.”

Rong Yuheng, “Hehehe~”

Wen Zhecheng guided him into the bathroom and grabbed a hairdryer, gently blowing the hair on his head.

Wen Zhecheng was about half a head taller than Rong Yuheng. At this moment, standing behind him, broad shoulders and wide back, he extended his long arm, almost enclosing Rong Yuheng in his embrace.

Rong Yuheng faced the mirror; as the steam dissipated, the reflection gradually became clear—

He saw Wen Zhecheng looking down, his expression serious yet gentle. His large palm gently kneaded and rubbed Rong Yuheng’s head, tilting slightly as if about to kiss.

Seeing this scene in the mirror, Rong Yuheng felt an unusual sense of embarrassment. Suddenly feeling a bit awkward, he couldn’t help but shrink his neck.

Wen Zhecheng’s movements stopped, and he asked softly, “Is it too hot?”

Rong Yuheng replied, “No.”

Wen Zhecheng continued to blow-dry his hair. “That’s good, your fur is so shiny, it would be such a pity if it got burned.”

Rong Yuheng, “…”

Okay, the awkward feeling was gone, back to the familiar hamster script. However, at this moment, Wen Zhecheng’s inner state was anything but calm.

Rong Yuheng had fair skin, and the bathrobe’s neckline was quite loose. As Wen Zhecheng looked from top to bottom, he noticed the graceful line of Rong Yuheng’s neck disappearing into the collar. When he turned his head, Wen Zhecheng could even catch a glimpse of Rong Yuheng’s attractive collarbones and Adam’s apple, moving subtly as he spoke.

Very fragrant, very tender, very tempting.

The key was that with just a light embrace, he could hold his waist tightly.

Wen Zhecheng turned off the hairdryer and stepped back two paces. “All done.”

Rong Yuheng rubbed his own head. “Thank you.”

After they left the bathroom, they chatted for a while in the bedroom. Approaching midnight, Wen Zhecheng brought out a blanket from the closet and spread it on the floor. “I’m getting ready to sleep. You take the bed, I’ll sleep here.”

Rong Yuheng felt like he was infringing on someone else’s territory. “How about I sleep on the floor?”

Wen Zhecheng said, “If you sleep on the floor, do you think I can sleep while you’re uncomfortable?”

Rong Yuheng hesitated for two seconds and tentatively suggested, “Then, can we sleep on the bed together?”

“…”.

Wen Zhecheng’s expression almost cracked!

He took a deep breath and shook the blanket vigorously. “It’s a single bed, it’s cramped to sleep together. We’ll sleep separately.”

Wen Zhecheng didn’t actually mind sleeping together, but he was worried he wouldn’t be able to control himself. Especially now that Rong Yuheng smelled like his shower gel all over, looking so defenseless.

Wen Zhecheng thought that some teasing and occasional little actions were reasonable. Perhaps even having some “cheeky” thoughts was acceptable. However, how could he sleep with someone while harboring such intentions? That would be way too much!

Seeing Wen Zhecheng’s persistence, Rong Yuheng could only compromise with an “Oh.”

As Wen Zhecheng made the bed, he told him, “Wearing a bathrobe might be uncomfortable for sleeping. There are clothes in my closet. Pick whichever you find comfortable to wear as pajamas.”

Wen Zhecheng’s thought process was that they couldn’t sleep together, but a “boyfriend’s shirt” could totally be a thing! He imagined Rong Yuheng in his oversized clothes, the collar wide, and the hem just long enough to cover the legs… Even if they weren’t sleeping together, tonight would be worth it.

Rong Yuheng went to the closet obediently and pulled out a set of clothes from some corner. As he unfurled them, they were just the right size to cover himself.

Wen Zhecheng’s pupils contracted slightly…

These were probably the summer uniforms he wore when he was in school ten years ago. Now that Rong Yuheng was wearing them, he looked perfectly fitted, complementing each other.

Rong Yuheng joyfully twirled around in front of Wen Zhecheng. “Look, isn’t it a good fit? Your clothes are all too big, I didn’t expect to find something like this!”

Wen Zhecheng’s lips twitched slightly. “…I didn’t expect it either.”

He was entirely expressionless. Rong Yuheng already looked youthful, and now he resembled a high school student even more.

Wen Zhecheng guided him to the bathroom to wash up and then back to the bed, tucking him in. “Sleep now, sleep…”

Rong Yuheng nestled in the blanket and sweetly chimed in, “My dear~ my precious.”

“…”. Wen Zhecheng promptly switched off the light with a snap.

He thought, isn’t he just a precious one? It would be inappropriate to have any other thoughts. It would make him seem like a pervert.

In the middle of the night, Wen Zhecheng had a dream.

In the dream, he returned to the day of the auditions, on a bright stage, where he first met Rong Yuheng.

Rong Yuheng was swaying his hips and arching his back. “I like it higher, can you do it?”

Wen Zhecheng felt his heart racing. He saw himself placing his hand on Rong Yuheng’s waist and saying, “I like it too, arch even higher.”

Next, the clothes on Rong Yuheng changed, turning into middle school uniforms. The background stage suddenly vanished, replaced by an open expanse of land. The sky above them turned pitch black, and a lightning bolt crackled and struck down.

Wen Zhecheng’s heart tightened, and a commanding voice echoed, “Laying hands on a minor? May lightning strike!”

Wen Zhecheng panicked, defending himself against the dark night sky. “I didn’t, I didn’t!”

Just then, Rong Yuheng bounced up like a hamster, legs wrapped around Wen Zhecheng’s waist, playfully spinning in circles—round and round, again and again… Wen Zhecheng tried to make him get down, not wanting to incriminate himself before the heavens, but he found himself unable to speak, feeling his abdomen squeezed and struggling to breathe.

“Um…!”

Wen Zhecheng let out a muffled groan, suddenly waking up from the dream—

Opening his eyes, he saw the dark ceiling, but the suffocating feeling hadn’t dissipated.

Lowering his head, he saw a pile of person and bedding pressed against his waist.

Wen Zhecheng, “…”

It seemed that the sound of something falling, “crackling” like thunder, was Rong Yuheng falling off the bed.

He sighed and laboriously tried to move Rong Yuheng, but the latter remained motionless, still frowning and muttering a few words. He clung to the carpet, refusing to let go.

He was literally clinging, his tiny paws deeply embedded in the blanket, unable to be pulled away.

Wen Zhecheng was helpless. Afraid of waking Rong Yuheng up, he had to let him lie on the carpet, tucking him in with the blanket, then climbed back into bed…

Early the next morning.

Wen Zhongyun woke up early. With the reduced sleep of an elderly person, after getting up, he took a quick stroll downstairs and returned, realizing it was nearly 8 AM. He prepared to wake the two children up.

Wen Zhongyun had already mentally prepared himself.

He thought, if he opened the door and saw Wen Zhecheng obediently sleeping on the floor, that would be fine. But if he saw Wen Zhecheng cuddling with the little child on the bed, he would also take it calmly.

After mentally preparing himself, Wen Zhongyun gently pushed the door— the bedroom door creaked open a crack, and the scene inside slowly revealed itself before his eyes…

None of the expected scenes were there.

On the comfortable large bed, his son Wen Zhecheng was lying properly, sleeping soundly. Meanwhile, Rong Yuheng, looking pitiable, was curled up under the bed on the carpet.

“…”.

Wen Zhongyun’s pupils shook, and his fists clenched. What a way to treat guests!

Before Wen Zhongyun could rush in, Rong Yuheng, lying on the floor, slowly opened his eyes.

Upon awakening, Rong Yuheng was initially confused—where was he?

Then his memories returned: Oh… he was at Wen Zhecheng’s house.

In the next second, Rong Yuheng realized he had somehow ended up under the bed, while the one who had said, “You sleep on the floor, do you think I can sleep?”—Wen Zhecheng—was already lying on the bed.

“…”. Rong Yuheng stared at Wen Zhecheng with a look that was hard to describe, a mixture of difficulty and indulgence, then shook his head.

Enough, he forgave Wen Zhecheng’s arrogance and indulgence.

Rong Yuheng got up and met eyes with Wen Zhongyun, who had been secretly observing at the doorway. Wen Zhongyun was startled, and before he could say anything, he gestured for Rong Yuheng to come over.

Rong Yuheng tiptoed over. “Uncle?”

Wen Zhongyun lovingly patted Rong Yuheng’s head as if he had suffered some great grievance. “Hurry and freshen up. Uncle will steam some shumai for you to eat.”

Rong Yuheng immediately ran off to wash up. When he came out, he saw Wen Zhongyun steaming shumai in the kitchen.

Rong Yuheng put a small plate aside. “Uncle, let me help you with the shumai!”

Wen Zhongyun warmly held his hand. “Good child, did you not sleep well yesterday?”

Rong Yuheng thought for a moment and realized he had actually slept quite soundly. He even had a dream about participating in a treasure hunt reality show, swimming in the ocean ball pit and rock climbing in an escape room…

“Not really, I slept well.”

Wen Zhongyun took it as politeness. After the shumai was steamed, they put it on a plate and brought it to the dining table together. Rong Yuheng even proactively handed Wen Zhongyun a pair of chopsticks. “Uncle, here are the chopsticks! Khekekhekehe~”

Wen Zhongyun felt like he was breathing lively and cheerful air for the first time in over a decade. “You should eat too, khakhakahkaa~”

The big white swan and the little hamster were happily nibbling on the shumai at the dining table, but after just a couple of bites, they heard some commotion at the entrance of the dining room.

Turning around, they saw Wen Zhecheng standing at the doorway, looking bewildered, as if he were asking them: Why didn’t you call me?

A hint of coldness curved at the corners of Wen Zhongyun’s mouth, but he remained silent with a smile.

With a sigh, Rong Yuheng kindly pulled out a chair for Wen Zhecheng. “How did you sleep?”

Wen Zhecheng sat down, giving the instigator a meaningful look. “Not very well.”

But as soon as the words left his mouth, he received a look from Wen Zhongyun that was even more meaningful—

Wen Zhongyun gazed at Wen Zhecheng, his tone tinged with a hint of irony. “You say that quite shamelessly.”

Wen Zhecheng, “?”

Rong Yuheng amiably lightened the atmosphere. “It’s alright, it’s alright. Have a shumai.” He handed one over to Wen Zhecheng.

Wen Zhecheng took it and furrowed his brows… He couldn’t shake the feeling that the term “shumai” was loaded with some significance in his mind. What was going on?

Before he could figure it out, Rong Yuheng added, “This is the shumai Uncle made early in the morning.”

Wen Zhecheng’s action of eating the shumai froze for a moment, and suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck through his mind—Rong Yuheng’s “criteria for marriage,” getting up early on a cold winter morning to steam shumai for him!

Wen Zhecheng felt like his whole world was crashing down!

He abruptly put down the shaomai, looked at the two bewildered faces before him with utmost seriousness, and blurted out an almost solemn declaration, “I can steam shumai too. From now on, let me steam the shumai.”

Rong Yuheng & Wen Zhongyun, “…”

The sharp gazes of the two gradually softened. Wen Zhongyun turned to Rong Yuheng and whispered, “Did we misunderstand him?”

Rong Yuheng nodded. “Yeah, the way he looks, he really didn’t sleep well.”

His mind was clearly not fully awake.
