48 Invitation for Lin Feng

The eerie and mysterious voice caught Han Xifeng off guard, causing her to jump in surprise.

"W-what?"

"If you want vengeance, then come and beg me. Your wish will be fulfilled at an appropriate cost," The voice spoke.

Han Xifeng immediately turned and rushed towards her hideout.

Meanwhile, Wang Jian had a sinister smile on his face as he witnessed her reaction. This was going all according to the plan.

A few days later, Fen Gen arrived outside the Miracle Angel Tribe's lair with a small group of his loyal guards. In fact, he had set up a camp near the lair, hidden behind a cluster of large rocks and trees.

He had sent a letter to the Miracle Angel Tribe, which stated his desire to meet Lin Feng.

Lin Feng initially frowned upon hearing of this letter and felt inclined to visit the camp. However, the entire Miracle Angel Tribe was in an uproar!

"How dare this devious clan to have the guts to come so close to our tribe?! They really don't put us in their eyes!"

"Let's fight them. If we die, so be it!"

"…I am opposed to this. If we fight these bastards, our children will suffer the aftereffects. We can't leave them alone."

"But what should we do?! How long should we endure this humiliation?!"

While the entire tribe was raging, Han Xifeng was also affected by her tribe member's emotions. She stared at Lin Feng while thinking profoundly that it would be best if he enacted vengeance on her tribe's behalf.

Only Lin Feng possessed the power to enact vengeance on their behalf.

However, Lin Feng showed a puzzled expression. It didn't seem as though he was in favour of harming the Night Dagger Clan yet.

"…I will visit the Night Dagger Clan and see what they have to say," Lin Feng suddenly spoke.

"Holy Son, it will be dangerous if you go alone! There is no telling what those devious bastards are planning!"

"I can take care of myself. And this is my final decision!" Lin Feng spoke decisively.

Han Xifeng approached Lin Feng with a heavy heart and whispered, "…Be careful."

"I will be."

Very soon, Lin Feng left the Miracle Angel Tribe's lair to meet Fen Gen. As he entered the camp, the guards led him straight to Fen Gen's tent and left.

Lin Feng's heart was pounding with anticipation as he met with Fen Gen.

"Father-in-law, how is Fen Shuying?" Lin Feng asked anxiously, his mind racing with thoughts of his beloved fiancé.

"She has been missing you quite a bit these past few days. She's worried about you," Fen Gen replied with a reassuring smile.

Lin Feng let out a sigh of relief upon hearing that his fiancé was doing well.

"Thank you for telling me, father-in-law. I appreciate it."

Fen Gen then explained to Lin Feng that the alliance with Wang Jian was not their idea but was forced upon them.

"We had no choice. Wang Jian is a very powerful man, and we couldn't afford to cross him. But know that our loyalty to you has not wavered."

Lin Feng's disappointment was evident on his face as he spoke, "I understand the situation, father-in-law, but the Night Dagger Clan's actions in the battle were unjust. You betrayed the Miracle Angel Tribe at the last moment and joined hands with the Crimson Mammoth Tribe. This is not something I can forgive easily."

Fen Gen hung his head in shame, "I know, son-in-law. We were wrong to do that. But please believe me when I say that this was the only way I could see the tribe's prosperity. If the Miracle Angel Tribe had won the battle against the Crimson Mammoth Tribe, it would have changed the power dynamics greatly. Without the presence of the Crimson Mammoth Tribe, it would have been difficult to keep the beasts in the northern region of Mellow Magnolia Woods in check."

"Once the Crimson Mammoth Tribe is destroyed, the next target of the beasts would be my clan. I couldn't allow my clan members to face such a calamity."

Lin Feng remained unconvinced, but he knew he couldn't push the matter further at the moment. "I understand, father-in-law. But please remember that Wang Jian is my enemy. I will not rest until I have brought him to justice."

Fen Gen nodded in agreement, "I understand, my son. We will do everything in our power to support you."

Lin Feng was relieved to hear Fen Gen's words and visibly relaxed.

The two continued their conversation as Fen Gen began to talk about some random topics. He wanted to keep his relationship with Lin Feng cordial, so he had naturally come prepared.

Fen Gen even brought some of his clan's heirlooms. A cloak, dagger, and light shoes.

Lin Feng was delighted to test them all. And without him realizing it, a couple of hours passed.

As the hours passed, the members of the Miracle Angel Tribe grew increasingly restless. They began to speculate amongst themselves, wondering why Lin Feng had not returned yet. Some feared that the Night Dagger Clan had harmed him, while others worried that he might have been taken hostage.

In the corner of the tribe, a group of young warriors whispered amongst themselves, their voices hushed and filled with concern.

"What do you think is taking him so long?" one of them asked.

"I don't know," another replied, "but I fear for his safety. The Night Dagger Clan is not to be trusted."

A few of the older members of the tribe, who had seen more battles than the younger ones, tried to reassure them. "Lin Feng is a skilled warrior," one of them said. "He knows how to take care of himself. We should have faith in him."

But their words did little to assuage the younger members' fears. They continued to fret and speculate, wondering what could be taking Lin Feng so long to return.
