After the doctor left, the expression on Li Xi’s face instantly faded. He held the hat in his hand, flipping it back and forth, somewhat disgusted by the place the doctor had touched.

“Skipping dinner should have been the lightest punishment. Why did you change it?” Bai Hua finally spoke up.

“Not interested,” Li Xi replied coldly. “Let’s clear this level quickly.”

Surprisingly, he and Duan Zhen were not assigned to the same room, and if the story progressed as normal, they probably wouldn’t be able to act together for some time.

Li Xi was not having it.

Dinner was a bland hospital meal, consisting of only rice porridge and boiled cabbage. It lacked taste and was clearly insufficient to fill his stomach.

Frowning, Li Xi toyed with the few pitiful cabbage leaves on his plate. He had no appetite before, and now he felt even less inclined to eat.

“Take it all,” he pushed the food towards Bai Hua, then lightly hopped off the bed and walked towards the door.

“Should I accompany you?” Bai Hua asked. “It’s dangerous to go out alone at night.”

Li Xi decisively refused: “No.”

As he approached the room’s entrance, he noticed a white piece of paper posted on the door, seemingly showing rules to be followed within the hospital.

The first rule was not to go out after dark.

Since it was summer, it was still bright outside at seven in the evening, and after pondering for a moment, Li Xi pushed the door open and walked out.

The doctor hadn’t told him where the office was, so Li Xi randomly chose a direction. He reached the staircase and saw a map on the wall.

Honestly, he was starting to want to go find Duan Zhen directly.

Wouldn’t it be great to pretend to be scared and share a bed at night?

Unfortunately, before he could put this idea into practice, he heard a dull sound coming from the other end of the corridor.

A person wearing a pink and white nurse’s uniform approached, wearing a mask that only revealed her deep brown eyebrows and a pair of jet-black eyes.

“Dr. Gu is waiting for you,” her voice was cold and devoid of any warmth.

Li Xi tilted his head and looked at her, pulling up the corners of his mouth. “Lead the way.”

It was a shame he couldn’t share a bed with Duan Zhen tonight. He wanted to use this opportunity to deepen their connection.

After a month of being together, their relationship had indeed become closer. But from Li Xi’s observations, Duan Zhen’s feelings for him were no different from those towards their other teammates.

Moreover, because of the fabricated identity, he intentionally kept a distance.

Li Xi didn’t feel unhappy about this, but he believed that they needed a little excitement and breakthrough in their relationship.

The nurse walked briskly ahead, her footsteps echoing urgently on the floor, as if each tap struck directly at one’s heart. Li Xi casually put his hands in his pockets and followed her slowly from behind.

The doctor’s office was located at the other end of the floor, and the hospital seemed to be circular, with the beginning and end connected.

In the center was the doctor’s office, with a door painted in dark red that emitted a faint rusty smell.

“Dr. Gu is waiting for you inside,” the nurse said.

She stood to the side of the door, her pitch-black eyes devoid of any light, staring fixedly at him.

Li Xi glanced at the dried unknown liquid on the door, wrinkling his nose in disgust, and kicked the door open with his toe.

Dr. Gu sat behind a mahogany desk, seemingly focused on reading some documents. When he saw Li Xi enter, he pushed his glasses up. “You’re here.”

Li Xi walked into the room, and the door clicked shut automatically.

“So, what’s my punishment?” Li Xi walked over and sat on the sofa, tilting his chin up with an impatient expression.

“Punishment…” The doctor’s face twitched slightly, and he came out from behind the desk, walking over to Li Xi.

The closer he got, the more fanatical and excited his expression became.

Li Xi disliked this gaze, and he subtly moved his hand inside his sleeve, considering the feasibility of killing the doctor right there.

“Don’t move.” Dr. Gu took off Li Xi’s hat and stared at his eyes with obsession: “Such perfect eyes… they will become the most precious part of my collection.”

Li Xi paused.

“You’re interested in these eyes too.” The doctor raised an eyebrow. “No wonder you’re one of Clemens’ people. He must like you a lot.”

Dr. Gu’s movements hesitated, sensing a faint sense of danger.

But his infatuation with those eyes made him push the unease aside.

Since he showed no sign of remorse, Li Xi decided to practice some combat techniques taught by Duan Zhen.

As a mage, he rarely engaged in physical combat, but trying it occasionally didn’t hurt his mood.

…. ….

The doctor’s head was getting pressed down on the ground, his pristine white coat was now disheveled, and his gold-rimmed glasses had been knocked off.

His fair face bore several scratches, with a bruise forming at the corner of his mouth.

He seemed taken aback by Li Xi’s unexpectedly strong combat skills, lying on the ground with a momentary lack of response.

“Stay put,” Li Xi frowned, grabbing the doctor’s hand and pressing him hard against the ground.

Despite his messed up appearance, the doctor’s obsession in his gaze remained, if not intensified.

Initially, Li Xi had some suspicions about him being Clemens, but seeing his expression put those doubts to rest.

Clemens might have an interest in his eyes, but he definitely had no masochistic tendencies like this doctor.

It seemed to be just a coincidence.

“At least I am still a patient. Can you doctors just take my eyes away like that?” Li Xi thought about Duan Zhen, suppressing the impulse to throw this disgusting doctor out and patiently tried to elicit information.

“No one will know,” the doctor strained to move his neck, staring at him intensely. “You will leave here healthy.”

“Isn’t that  miraculous?” Li Xi said casually, even yawning out of boredom.

The doctor’s pride was wounded by his contemptuous attitude, and his face twisted. “You don’t know anything. This is something that benefits humanity.”

“Oh,” Li Xi had no interest in benefiting humanity. He increased his grip on the doctor’s arm and asked in a low voice, “Why can’t we leave our rooms at night?”

“Guess?” the doctor sneered.

Even while being held captive, he still dreamed of possessing Li Xi’s eyes as part of his collection. He had always enjoyed collecting people’s eyeballs, and after working at this hospital for several years, he finally felt free to indulge his desires.

But looking into the young man’s eyes across from him, he felt that all his previous collections were utterly worthless.

“Don’t look at me with those disgusting eyes,” Li Xi stared at him. “You’ve gouged out so many people’s eyes. Do you want to experience what yours feels like to be gouged?”

Perhaps this statement struck a nerve in the doctor, as he finally averted his gaze. “What do you want to know? For the sake of those eyes, I’ll tell you anything you want.”

Li Xi’s gaze grew solemn, about to ask a question, but the restrained man suddenly convulsed in pain.

Outside the window, the last rays of sunlight slowly vanished, leaving behind a deep and eerie darkness.

The sensation under Li Xi’s hand became sticky. He quickly pulled his hand back and summoned a water ball, rubbing his hand several times to calm himself down.

Now he finally had the chance to examine the creature before him, no longer human in any sense of the word.

I definitely thought the doctor was going to d!e the second he wanted to take Li Xi’s eyes. Guess he was being a generous benefactor for the sake of his Duan Duan ahaha
