After completing an instance, all players would return to the rest area. The rest area was more like a hotel—a towering building with a milky-white paint, countless rooms inside that couldn’t be counted, and no one knew the exact number of floors.

In this towering building, meeting familiar faces without prearranged time and location was nearly impossible.

Of course, all these problems ceased to exist for Li Xi.

The infinite expansion of this building relied on his magic. Finding Duan Zhen within it was done in a blink of an eye.

He stealthily hid in a corner, his hat turned backward, revealing an excessively exquisite face. However, the passing people seemed as if they couldn’t see him at all, not casting any glances his way.

“Even though we were transported out together, Li Xi isn’t with us,” the voice of Xia Qirong drifted from the corridor. “Brother Duan, I knew you should have held onto him at that time.”

Duan Zhen remained silent, but Sun Le spoke up. “There aren’t many clairvoyants who prefer to work alone. Li Xi should have his own team… or at least he used to.”

Those with psychic powers relied on their mental abilities to predict fortunes and misfortunes. Lower-ranked ones may not have the same level of intuition as some others, and they required substantial investment in training. Many clairvoyants were actually part-timers in the early stages. It was rare to come across a clairvoyant like Li Xi, who seemed to have no self-defense capabilities other than his clairvoyance.

“It’s strange for such a powerful psychic to go out on missions alone. I wonder what his team is thinking,” Xia Qirong’s tone was inexplicable.

Duan Zhen remained unresponsive as before. Li Xi listened intently for a while. If he hadn’t sensed Duan Zhen’s presence, he would have thought there were only two people ahead.

Could it be that his previous perception was wrong, and Duan Zhen actually didn’t care about him, to the extent that he didn’t even participate in discussions about him with his teammates?

Half of Li Xi’s heart grew cold. He peeked his head out from the corner, revealing only his eyes as he looked.

Duan Zhen walked in the middle of the three, his gaze lowered, focused on the amulet in his hand. His face remained expressionless as always, making it difficult to discern his thoughts.

Li Xi blinked his eyes, seeing that Duan Zhen was indeed looking at the “token of affection” he had given him. His mood instantly improved, and he began considering whether or not to go out and greet them, perhaps even find a way to join them in a room.

Should he find an excuse to live together?

To escalate their relationship, naturally, they should live together. The strategy mentioned that living together, occasionally revealing a leg or waist, or even sleeping on the same bed, could rapidly advance their relationship by leaps and bounds, directly entering the honeymoon phase.

…But this strategy seemed to be for when two people were already together, and considering his current relationship with Duan Zhen, they were probably close enough.

“Brother Duan, are you still looking at the amulet Li Xi gave you?” Xia Qirong suddenly said.

Li Xi perked up.

The three of them had already moved quite far from this corner. He released his magic, surrounding Duan Zhen, wanting to hear what he would say.

“This amulet is made out of ruby,” Duan Zhen said. “I haven’t seen it in the system store.”

Although there were people in this world who could make talismans and amulets on their own, those who possessed such ability were few. In other words, there was definitely a team supporting Li Xi.

Duan Zhen quickly ran through the teams he had encountered in his mind, but he had no recollection of Li Xi at all.

“Perhaps he’s the hidden ace of one of the teams,” Sun Le whispered.

They talked for a while, but the discussion was focused on Li Xi’s abilities, without touching on their relationship. Li Xi was getting anxious, wishing he could just run up to Duan Zhen and ask him directly if he liked him or not.

As if sensing his frustration, Xia Qirong said, “It’s a shame. I think that he gets along quite well with Brother Duan. If he didn’t have a team, maybe we could have invited him.”

After that, he added: “I’ve never seen Brother Duan so close to anyone before.”

Duan Zhen neither confirmed nor denied it. He put the amulet into the inner pocket of his clothes and casually said, “He’s very similar to Zizhuo.”

“Are they really similar?” Xia Qirong wondered: “Although their ages are indeed similar.”

He scratched his head, glanced at Duan Zhen’s expression, and realized that he wasn’t willing to say more. Xia Qirong could only ponder on it himself.

Duan Zizhuo was Duan Zhen’s younger brother who was ten years old1So in the second chapter, it was said that his younger brother was 16 years old. In this chapter, it was said that he’s ten…So I’m going with the newest age I guess ? ^^’. He had been weak and sickly since childhood and was shy. Xia Qirong had met him a few times, but he would just sit in a chair and smile when they saw each other without saying a word.

When he was born, Duan Zhen had joined the military and rarely returned home, which prevented them from growing close. However, Xia Qirong could sense that Duan Zhen cared a lot about his younger brother. Every time he came home, he would personally choose gifts for him.

So, the reason Duan Zhen had been so gentle with Li Xi today was because he felt that Li Xi resembled Zizhuo… That could explain it.

The three of them returned to their respective rooms.

Meanwhile, Li Xi, who had been eavesdropping against the wall, was dumbfounded.

Who was Zizhuo?

So, all the meticulous preparation he had done for the strategy was because he resembled this Zizhuo who had appeared out of nowhere, and that’s why Duan Zhen treated him so differently?

Li Xi couldn’t accept it and replayed the entire day’s interactions in his mind, carefully considering Duan Zhen’s comments about him. Eventually, he reluctantly concluded that Duan Zhen didn’t have any of the affection he had hoped for.

It’s… it’s okay. It wouldn’t be realistic for Duan Zhen to fall in love with him at first sight with his personality. Although he didn’t know who this Zizhuo was, the first meeting left a good impression, and it would be easier to cooperate next time.

Li Xi tried to encourage himself in his mind, but the little curl at the top of his forehead drooped dejectedly.

“Hey!” Someone tapped him from behind, and another person hugged his arm. “Heard you went to play in a lower world, how was it?”

“Boring,” Li Xi pouted: “And the main system found out.”

“That guy that manages the main system, we’ll dismantle him sooner or later,” The person on the left scoffed: “If we weren’t caught off guard and didn’t understand at the beginning, who would let it boss us around?”

“But if it weren’t for it, we wouldn’t have come to this world,” The person on the right said with a cheerful smile: “It’s a strange world, but it’s quite interesting.”

“Why are you two here?” Li Xi turned his head.

The two people beside him were twins, seemingly around sixteen years old, with matching golden hair and green eyes. Even their outfits were identical.

“We sensed that you came back and we came to play with you,” The person on the right was still hanging onto his arm: “It’s the first time I’ve seen you look so cute. Heard you’ve taken a liking to a human. Did you succeed in winning him over?”

“Hest, don’t ask such rude questions,” the other person tapped his head.

“Yes, yes, with Senafel’s beauty, he can easily win anyone over with just one look. There’s no need to ask,” Hest stuck out his tongue.

Upon hearing this, Li Xi became disheartened.

The twins looked at him in surprise and said in unison, “Did you fail?”

“It’s normal. It’s unrealistic to succeed on the first meeting with Duan Zhen’s personality,” Li Xi tried to salvage the situation: “I like him just the way he is.”

“Perhaps it’s because you made yourself too innocent,” Hest cupped his face: “Such a cute child would only evoke a sense of protection. Even I wouldn’t dare to bully you.”

Li Xi pushed him away and furrowed his brows. “Moduna, do you think the same?”

The man on the left, nodded silently.

“Then I’ll change it next time,” Li Xi pondered.

“Come and play with us in the next world,” Hest shook his arm. “No one has been coming to the advanced worlds lately, and we’re so bored.”

“Let’s go back and watch a movie,” Li Xi cruelly declined: “Duan Zhen is going to Clemens in the next instance.”

“The movies have already finished airing,” Hest sighed. With his adorable appearance, he displayed a mournful expression, as if a child was trying to act like an adult. “That main system guy almost dragged the entire world’s population in, and the release of new movies got postponed.”

“Are you going to follow him to Clemens’ world?” Moduna furrowed his brow. “I heard you’ve fallen for an ordinary human but Clemens has been going crazy for a few days. He might come looking for you directly.”

Annoyance flashed across Li Xi’s face. “Enough already.”

“If we join forces…” Hest climbed onto Li Xi’s shoulder and lowered his voice: “We might be able to kill him.”

“Don’t pull that stunt on me,” Li Xi pushed him away: “I’m going back.”

He intentionally arranged for his room to be not far from Duan Zhen’s room, so there might be a chance for a coincidental encounter in the future.

After Li Xi left, Hest leaned on Moduna and smiled: “Things seem to be getting more interesting.”

“If Senafel ends up ignoring you, don’t come to me to complain,” Moduna pulled his collar and walked away, his tone gradually rising: “The next world is going to be lively.”

“Yes,” Hest laughed, a ripple of delight sparkling in his emerald-green eyes: “We’ve been bored for so long, and finally, there’s a good show… Don’t you think it would be even more interesting if we got involved?”

“Wait a little longer,” Moduna said, a smile curling up at the corners of his mouth. He repeated, “Just a little longer.”

“And they say I’m impatient.” Hest held his hand and smiled mischievously. “You can’t wait anymore, can you?”

Their figures gradually disappeared within the building.

Li Xi sat on the couch, feeling their presence fade away, and his furrowed brows slowly relaxed.

Moduna and Hest, the twins of the Dawnlight Empire, died at the age of sixteen due to a conspiracy, and later reincarnated as demons who decimated the royal family. The once glorious empire on the continent was destroyed, and they became known as the Demon Kings in the subsequent centuries.

They were considered Li Xi’s “seniors” in a way, perhaps due to their similar experiences. The two of them always liked to cling to Li Xi, but he was aware that their friendliness was only superficial and false. Li Xi had lost count of how many times they had tried to goad him into killing Clemens for fun.

It was all just to have some fun. Li Xi didn’t believe they would truly help him.

Li Xi rubbed his temples, thinking that Duan Zhen was just a few rooms away from him, which lifted his spirits a little.
