TTPC Ch. 22: Extension of Life

“Those two auras are very strange. Since the white light protects your heart and meridians, it should be harmless, and the black aura should be dangerous. Even more, there is the white phantom that almost killed me just now. Are these strange things something you’d never discovered before?” Lin Yi asked anxiously, not taking into consideration Pei Xuanqing’s silence.

Just now, his body’s golden thread probed into Pei Xuanqing’s to explore but was shocked into retreat by the white phantom. The Pharmacopoeia frantically trembled in his mind as if terrified to death. How could he diagnose and treat Pei Xuanqing if it refused to go? If he couldn’t come up with a prescription, wouldn’t his deal with Pei Xuanqing have failed?

Pei Xuanqing looked at him carefully, the tone of his voice already having a lot of trust, “I know of the ash black and white auras you’ve mentioned, but I don’t know what the white phantom is. You said it attacked you, so this thing should have self-awareness. Since it has fangs, it should be in a beast-type form. Except, I don’t have a spirit contract, nor do I have any spirit beasts, so this thing’s origin is a mystery.”

Lin Yi felt a little regretful, but it was helpful that Pei Xuanqing knew what the two auras were, “What are those two auras?”

Pei Xuanqing did not conceal anything and told Lin Yi what the high-level pharmacist had said.

“Life and death? So the ash black aura is the energy of death, while the white one is of life?” Lin Yi’s mind turned quickly, and recalling the scene he’d just seen, his tone became grave, “I don’t know what your situation was at that time, but right now, your body is not in a state of balance. The death energy almost shrouds your entire body, so no matter how you look at it, it’s already in a perilous circumstance.”

He was afraid it seemed that if Pei Xuanqing didn’t get a cure, his life would be in danger.

Pei Xuanqing naturally understood the stakes but was calmer than Lin Yi. “Don’t worry. Since you can see it, it proves my life shouldn’t be cut short. Let’s take it step by step.”

Lin Yi also thought it over. He came here himself to cure Pei Xuanqing, so he must achieve his goal no matter what. This was the golden thigh he hugged with great difficulty.

Thinking about it this way, his heart became much calmer than before.

Now that he knew what the two auras in Pei Xuanqing’s body were, it was time to solve the issue of the phantom. Carefully thinking back, it was when he was curious about what the white light source hidden in Pei Xuanqing’s dantian at first. After he tried to probe Pei Xuanqing’s dantian with the golden thread, it was as if he had alarmed something. Suddenly, a strong heartbeat echoed like a bell, and immediately after, the white phantom appeared.

The white phantom had pounced toward him as it emerged but disappeared after he threw off Pei Xuanqing’s hand.

Could it be that that thing was inside Pei Xuanqing’s dantian? Did it think he was harmful to Pei Xuanqing, so it attacked him?

It was very possible that the source of the white light was related to the white phantom. If that was the case, at least one thing was certain: this thing was actually protecting Pei Xuanqing.

Lin Yi shared his speculation with Pei Xuanqing, “Do you think it’s possible?”

“If it’s protecting me, perhaps I can try to communicate with it.” Pei Xuanqing said.

But how to communicate with it was also a problem. Pei Xuanqing couldn’t see the phantom.

Lin Yi became worried again, “Are you able to sense it in your dantian right now?”

Pei Xuanqing said, “I can’t sense it, and I can’t hear the heartbeat you were talking about, but I can try to meditate. If it’s really protecting me and has its own consciousness, it should be able to sense my thoughts.”

Lin Yi’s expression brightened, “That’s great! You should try it as soon as possible!”

Pei Xuanqing nodded and meditated on the spot. Because he couldn’t feel his legs, he crossed them over bit by bit himself. This kind of action was graceless, but Pei Xuanqing’s expression remained calm from beginning to end. When he concentrated his mind, he quickly entered a state where even the surrounding atmosphere was affected, becoming extremely quiet.

Lin Yi dared not even breathe loudly, afraid of disturbing Pei Xuanqing.

Time passed bit by bit, and about two-quarters of an hour later, Pei Xuanqing opened his eyes and looked at Lin Yi, “Have a try.”

Lin Yi closed his eyes, concentrated his mind, and communicated with the Pharmacopoeia in his mind. The Pharmacopoeia’s light quickly flourished, and the golden threads he had seen before reappeared, slowly climbing up Pei Xuanqing’s body. However, once Lin Yi urged it to explore his dantian, it shrunk back a little as if afraid.

This scene made Lin Yi feel strange, but in fact, just a moment ago, he had already felt that something was a bit off. He always felt that whether it was Pharmacopoeia or the gold thread, they seemed to be conscious, even knowing now that it was hesitant and afraid……

Lin Yi tentatively said in his heart, ‘Don’t be afraid. If that scary thing appears again, I will immediately retreat.’

After he finished speaking, the golden thread really stopped shrinking back and began to probe into Pei Xuanqing’s dantian.

Lin Yi: ……

When this was over, he had to fully figure out what was happening!

The golden thread slowly entered the dantian, and Lin Yi once again ‘saw’ the dark and gloomy world of primal chaos. This was Pei Xuanqing’s dantian, a place so vast that it seemed that it should have been almost at the point of becoming a Sea of Energy.

The golden thread unceasingly explored through the dark primal chaos when the white light he’d seen earlier reappeared. Although not very bright, it looked very conspicuous in this dark world.

Lin Yi ‘watched’ as the golden thread very cautiously advanced, fearing the previous situation would repeat itself. However, this time, Pei Xuanqing’s communication worked, and they did not encounter that scary phantom again.

The golden thread finally arrived near the source of the white light, and Lin Yi could clearly see what was going on.

There was a white shadow that he couldn’t see clearly, coiled dormant in Pei Xuanqing’s dantian. From that vague shadow, a white line formed by the condensation of white light slowly rose and twined around Pei Xuanqing’s Primordial Soul. It was a bead, already dim and digressed, with cracks and pits scoring the surface. It looked so miserable that one couldn’t bear to see it.

But those white threads were twisted into a ball, a trace of vitality permeating into the Primordial Soul’s core, saving a faint flicker of spiritual light inside it.

Lin Yi nearly cried out in surprise. If he wasn’t mistaken, it was the white shadow below burning its own vitality to save Pei Xuanqing. If the white line were severed, Pei Xuanqing would undoubtedly die.

Just as Lin Yi was surprised, the hazy white shadow below suddenly moved as if lifting its head. He was obviously unable to see it clearly, but Lin Yi felt as if a pair of eyes had fixed on him. The feeling made his hair stand on end, and his body instantly tensed. This, this feeling was even more terrifying than when he went to see Patriarch Pei. He suspected this sight pierced his soul, his entire body turning cold!

Even the golden thread froze and dared not move……

In the outside world, Pei Xuanqing saw his face turn pale instantly, a cold sweat breaking out on his forehead. He suspected that he had run into some trouble, so he stretched out his hand to cover Lin Yi’s and, at the same time, closed his own eyes.

In the next moment, Lin Yi felt that the gaze staring at him had finally moved away, and its head slowly returned to its original place.

The golden thread dared not stay any longer and rapidly retreated from Pei Xuanqing’s dantian. Lin Yi’s ‘sight’ followed the golden thread and left, no longer perceiving the situation inside.

When he returned to reality, he immediately collapsed, panting heavily, “S, scared me to death.”

Feeling the soft texture of cloth rubbing against his face, Lin Yi ‘saw’ Pei Xuanqing stretching out his hand to wipe his sweat. Feeling a little embarrassed, he said, “I’m fine.”

“You’ve worked hard,” Pei Xuanqing said in a low voice, withdrawing his hand, “How was it? What did you see?”

After Lin Yi took a few more breaths, he told Pei Xuanqing what he saw, “It really is protecting you. The white lights are coming from its body, and if it’s really alive, it’s burning its own vitality to protect that little spiritual light, and your heart meridians for you. In other words, it’s keeping you alive.”

Pei Xuanqing’s face immediately became heavy, his tone imposing, “Could you see clearly what it was?”

Lin Yi shook his head, “It seemed to be intentionally concealing itself. I can only see a blurry ball, but it’s coiled from head to tail like a big dumpling and seems to be a bit fluffy?”

Something white and fluffy……

After listening to him, a light flashed in Pei Xuanqing’s eyes, and he fell into contemplation.

Lin Yi didn’t notice. After looking at the situation in Pei Xuanqing’s dantian, he felt that the prescription should be able to be taken out. He once again concentrated his mind and communicated with the Pharmacopoeia.

Huahuahua……

The Pharmacopoeia trembled violently, the radiance on his body flickering and wavering, seeming very anxious.

At the same time, Lin Yi also felt the sharp withdrawal of his spiritual power from his body, his mind destabilizing. A strong premonition of impending disaster surged in his heart, and his hands and feet began to freeze.

Seeing the intense rejection from the Pharmacopoeia, Lin Yi’s body shook and suddenly emptied his mind, no longer thinking about the prescription.

“Hu!” As soon as the consciousness connection disconnected, even though Lin Yi was sitting, his whole body swayed, the sky and earth spun, and everything around him became blurred. Slowly, his consciousness withdrew, and then he fell unconscious.

“Lin Yi!” Pei Xuanqing caught the unconscious Lin Yi, his face immediately darkening, “Someone come!”

Pei Qi and Shui Su, who had been waiting outside for a long time, immediately came in. When they saw Pei Xuanqing and Lin Yi sitting on the ground, Lin Yi unconscious in Pei Xuanqing’s arms, they jumped in fright and hurriedly rushed forward.

……

Before Lin Yi passed out, he felt as if he heard the voice of a frightened crying child, “Wu……”

There it was again; the voice came again.

After this thought flashed past, he completely fainted, not knowing dusk from dawn.

His consciousness fell into the darkness of sleep for an unknown amount of time. A warm force flowed from his mouth into his stomach and abdomen before flowing through his whole body, making him feel comfortably warm from head to toe, feeling the strength he had lost returning to his body.

“Hu……Thank the heavens, the Eldest Young Madam’s complexion has finally recovered. He should wake up soon.”
